“Her Majesty wants to see you now.” While Ed was relaxing, a servant knocked on the door before calling out to him.
Guess it’s time to go now. Making sure he looked presentable, Ed opened the door and followed behind the servant.
The servant stopped out front of a large ornate wooden door and turned around to Ed. “Her Majesty is in the room ahead of us.”
The door split in the middle, as two servants dragged it open from the inside. On the other side of the door was a massive and extravagant throne room. Rows of guards and servants lined the side walls, as Princess Elaine sat tall on a gigantic golden throne. Immense pressure emanated from her in waves, crashing into Ed.
It’s okay. Everything’s been cleared up, and she invited you here. Nothing bad is going to happen. Ed convinced himself to stay calm, giving himself time to adjust to the pressure.
“You may enter.” Princess Elaine commanded.
Following the servant’s lead, Ed walked forward. Stepping through the door, the pressure felt even more palpable, but Ed pushed through, step by step making it closer to the throne. The door closed behind him, leaving him with no chance to escape from the pressure.
Putting all his focus on stepping forward, the rest of the outside world disappeared from his mind, leaving just him and the throne.
A tenacious feeling rose from his very soul. His entire being felt eager to fight back against the outside pressure. His body threatened to explode outwards into a mind-numbing horde of threads, but he tried his hardest to restrain it.
The threads rampaged internally, but from the outside nothing had changed. The tenacity of his bloodline burst forward, easing the pressure he felt and making it easier for him to move.
Elaine watched on in acknowledgement as Ed drew closer. When he reached the bottom of the steps leading up to her throne, she reigned the pressure in.
Ed stumbled forward slightly as the room went back to normal. What’s going on? He caught himself from falling face first onto the ground, and stared up at Elaine, noticing the twinkle of amusement and pride in her eyes.
Now without the overbearing pressure, the room took on a more solemn atmosphere. All the guards and servants that were lining the hall stepped forward and knelt towards the throne.
The butler stepped out from beside the princess with a furled-up scroll in his hand.
“Edward Armitage. For your assistance in today’s operation, the princess has bestowed upon you this list of rewards: one hundred thousand dollars, a recently rescinded two-storey building to the east, and the opportunity to assist the princess in the future with any investigative tasks of a similar nature.” The butler then unfurled the scroll and held a pen out to Ed. “Sign along this line and the rewards will be conferred upon you immediately.

That’s a lot to take in. I think she just solved all the issues I was having. That money should last me a long time. I won’t even run out of it by the time Buddie pulls me out of Hell. Ed carefully read through the entire scroll, making sure that there were no tricks or traps in it before taking the pen from Wilfred.
Pressing his pen to the paper, he was moments away from signing his name when the door burst open behind him.
“Baaaabe! Why am I missing out on all the fun?” A sultry voice called out from behind Ed. He turned around to see a young woman standing in the doorway.
Succubus. The woman had all the trademark features of a succubus; The spiralling horns, the tattered demonic wings and the long heart-tipped tail, all of which identified her as a typical succubus.
Where her looks differed from the norm was in her ash grey skin, and the long flowing white hair that sat in a high ponytail.
She was wearing a flowy, off the shoulder crop top and a pair of tight denim shorts, oozing a casual sensuality.
She sauntered across the floor in complete silence, tossing herself onto Elaine’s lap. “Why didn’t you send someone to come and get me? You know I’m always down to support you in your big fancy pants ceremonies.” She said.
Elaine’s face gained the faintest tinge of red, as her domineering demeanour immediately deflated, and she appeared slightly flustered.
“There was no need for me to bother you with this Lola. It’s not anything important.” Elaine said.
What just happened? The solemn atmosphere was immediately broken by the arrival of Lola, and Ed felt it. While the guards and servants remained unresponsive, still kneeling towards the throne, Ed saw Wilfred sigh and shake his head with a slight smile.
“It’s not a bother at all, I want to be here. Now! What are we doing?” She turned back around to face the room, still nestled in Elaine’s lap. It was at this point that she finally noticed Ed. “Ooh, who is he? I haven’t seen him around the palace before.”
He assisted me in tracking down my attacker. You’ve just walked in on the middle of his reward ceremony.” Elaine said, trying her best to stay regal and solemn.
Lola turned back around in excitement. “That’s amazing babe! I’m so happy you caught that guy. We should celebrate. Let’s go back to the bedroom...” Lola began to whisper seductively into Elaine’s ear, whose face turned bright red.
Wilfred coughed loudly, drawing everyone’s attention back to the matter at hand. “You may now sign it Ed.”
That’s right. I almost forgot what I was doing. Ed put the pen back on the paper and signed his name.
Wilfred rolled the scroll back up and looked at Ed. “Now that everything is settled, you will be brought to your new residence. Please follow the servant who led you here, and I hope you find the place to your taste.”
“Yay! WOOO!” Lola cheered happily, clapping loudly for Ed. She hopped off the throne, dragging a flustered Elaine with her as she raced out the door. “It was nice to meet you Ed! Let’s chat later, okay?” She yelled out as she disappeared from view.
The guards and servants lining the room got up and walked away, going back to their regular duties, leaving Ed alone with Wilfred and the other servant.
“I hope you appreciate what Her Majesty has given you.” Wilfred said as he put his hand out to Ed.
“I do.” Ed shook Wilfred’s hand firmly.
Satisfied with his response, Wilfred walked out of the room.
“Please follow me sir.” The servant said.
“Lead the way.”
Following behind the servant, Ed was led to a car that drove off to the east.
