Prompt: You and your soulmate meet again in the afterlife, you both talk about your past life times together and all the memories come flooding back. You then ask your soulmate if they wanted to sit out the reincarnation cycle a little bit and enjoy the afterlife together for an extra decade or ten.

That old familiar door, its look ever so strange.
Every time you glance at it it's obviously different. different shapes, different sizes, different materials.
Yet no matter how much you think, you can only ever remember it being exactly the same as how it looks now.
In that same way that everything here seems to be a thousand different things at once, Echoes and memories. All completely distinct yet perfectly blurred together.
I pick up the tea from the table, add some creamer and take a sip from the coffee.
Anna sits across from me, her beautiful red dress and green eyes, a reminder of the evening we spent together at the ball.
My own Farmers outfit and dirty brow were perfect match for the green of her tie dye t-shirt.

Oh how Sarah loved the colors and swirls that made up tie dye clothes. She would compare it to the ever moving clouds and the changing Hues of love.
I nervously readjust the tie around my neck, an old habit from years of working at the company.
I clear my throat to help relieve the sting of whiskey as i ready to talk, she peers at me with her warm Icy blue eyes.
"You're as beautiful as ever" i say
"Oh you, sweet thing, such a charmer" she said in her deep southern accent.
"you know" I said, taking a puff from my cigar. "We have had so many times together, we knew each other for a week as you guided my hike through the Himalayan mountains."
"and we knew each other for but a few months as I toured France as a student" she replies
I breathe in the pleasant Aroma of the Rose Garden around us.
"We never seem to meet for long" I said
she replied in her soft Irish accent "but it always burns so bright"
I ready to ask my question, even though I already know the answer.
"do you think we could stay for a while? Sit out on the cycle? For maybe a year or two?"
she simply smirks and stands up from our shared bean bag.
as she approaches the door and gazes to the horizon through the winding city streets, over the fields of golden wheat, and at the snow topped peaks of the mountains.
"there is beauty in the hills" she softly sings
"A chip in the sky"
"So don't be sad, because I roam"
"It keeps me alive"
our favorite song we found on our honeymoon.
I smile and peer down as the door gently opens.
Despite all the twists and turns, different times and places, differing short encounters that spin in this place.
If there was one thing that remains unchanged.
There is nothing quite as beautiful as the sound of her footsteps.
A door closes, and I smile, happy to follow.
