Chapter 53 - Frigid - Enemy (Vol 2)

Dark Child Master looked at Sylas and then Les; he got closer and sat down beside Les.

“I understand that you are angry,” said Dark Child Master, looking up and down.

Sylas smiled and nodded.

“It is good that you understand.”

Dark Child Master then kept on speaking.

He feels that Sylas right now is about to explode on them, and he did not want to see that at all.

In the end, the mission priority is not angering the target and fighting against him; it is recruitment of the target.

“I have to say that before we did know that you had potential, we were rude to you.”

“Is there anything we can do to solve this problem?”

Sylas laughed a little and shook his head.

“I am going to say it for the first time here, officially.”

Les and Dark Child Master kept their silence and waited for the words.

“I am not going to join or have anything to do with Dark Father Organization. I do not want to be enemies with the organization too.”

Les hearing the words furrowed her brows and let it out.

“Huh, who do you think you are to be enemy of the Dark Father?”

Dark Child Master reacted and put his gloved hands on the knee of Les. Sylas, on the other hand, looked deep in the eye of Les.

“Less, do you think I am joking?” he said it in a silent, frigid tone.

Dark Child Master took a deep breath and looked at Les for a moment before speaking.

“We heard him; let's get up and leave this place.”

“But-” Les was about to speak, and Dark Child Master shook his head.

Not much longer, Les and Dark Child Master left the cave, the temporary house of Sylind, without creating any problems.

After Les and Dark Child Master went back to the other Dark Child group, Dark Child Master started speaking.

“I know you have your questions.”

“And I know that it is your mission and you are in charge.”

Les, then showing an angry face, asked.

“Then, why are you intervening with my mission?”

Dark Child Master sat on the log cut down by the Dark Child Group to sit on it and started talking.

“His words are clear and on to the point; he has motives and reasons not to trust the organization.”

“But-“

Dark Child Master cut the words that Les was about to say.

“You may think that he does not have power to order us around.”

Les gulped and waited, coming to her senses. It is clear that Dark Child Master is able to read her like a book.

So, it is better that she should listen, she thought.

It is true that she is feeling greatly disrespected, and her ego is a little hurt from all of her interactions with Sylas.

But this did not mean that she would be dumb about her decisions.

“Yeah,” she said in a small, fly-like voice.

Dark Child Master kept on speaking.

“I am just telling you that, if he wanted, at that time, his power should be greater than both of us and all the dark children.”

“Which means that any kind of a battle would end in our defeat, which means death in our line of work.”

Les felt her bones getting colder and colder; every word of Dark Child Master hit her in the deep and showed that her thoughts and understanding were wrong.

She could not help but remember and understand the dialogue between herself and Sylas, how he moved, his behavior, and his actions.

“Oh..”

“He never showed that he was afraid of any conflict!”

Dark Child Master laughed soundly and nodded.

“Yeah, you got it.”

“So, you mean that from the first moment, the time he noticed us, he was never scared of fighting to death against us?” Les said, despite all the evidence, she was still having a hard time accepting the reality.

“Precisely, actually, I felt that he wanted a battle.”

“His anger towards you, especially, is exciting.”

“He wanted a battle to happen so that he would have a clear and good reason to kill you.”

Les smiled weakly.

“Yeah, considering I have spied on him by sending a frozen shapeshifter, and before all of this was happening, I went to his manor to kill him right here and there.”

"Also, the assassins we have sent to him, I believe he has enough reason to get angry with me.”

Dark Child Master said nothing for a moment and then added.

“In any case, he has to die.”

Les stopped, and her face changed.

“Why ?”

Dark Child Master shook his head.

“I am having a hard time understanding why you are a team member.”

“He is clearly angry with you, and under the name of Dark Father, you have spied on him, went to kill him, and sent assassins to his house.”

“Which means that, right now, he may not be powerful enough to change the balance of the mages and political arena between organizations.

“But what would happen if he got powerful enough to even take on Dark Father?”
