Chapter 35 — A Pebble Feud

Chapter 35 — A Pebble Feud

The sun is already in its way to the peak yet the spar between the young man and the servant continued.

Unlike Puppet, Alexis is sweating a lot and his shirt is covered with mud still he did not stop, he threw a weak left punch to his abdomen which was then countered by Puppet with him kneeing it upwards.

However the young man followed with a sweep of his right leg aiming for his foot. Puppet jumped backwards before the impact happened. Alexis missed but he was not disheartened instead he used the momentum of the kick to swiftly made a circle and when he landed back on his feet he lunged forward like a beast. Arms stretched to the front while he shaped his fingers into claws, it looks like he is planning to make the fight more brutal.

However Puppet—or Tron would not want that, he smoothly stopped Alexis by making his arms slip between the gap of the young man's hands then spread them open before they collided.

With the rugged hands spreading away both of his wrist Alexis is currently left dangling mid air, but, instead of giving up and stopping the fight there he instead suddenly pulled back his locked hands then using that chance he tried to headbutt the servant while his right leg aims for his abdomen.

The puppet is stuck between the two attacks and yet instead of letting Alexis go and evade it he first move his head further away to dodge his then used his left foot to block the incoming attack below, even with the lag in between the servant still perfectly killed the young man's strikes however—

Alexis smiled when he saw his leg connects with the servant's, it crept to its limits until it transformed into a grin.

“I...win.”

He weakly proclaimed after his hands ate released and landed on his butt. Alexis then let his body be embraced grass, he was that tired after the long fight but his body does not have any bruises as Tron controlled the servant without making any direct attacks that is why except for some acute pain in his back which met with the ground earlier in the first round the rest of his body is fine.

Even though he knew that without the delay and him not using his best Alexis is still proud with what he did, that's why when he heard Tron's words as he overshadow him again he heaved a large sigh of relief.

“Good job.”

“Thanks...Then can I go back now?”

Looking at his expression he decided to let the young man savour this bliss for a while and did not told him the plans he had for tomorrow.

“Yes, you can.”

Just as Alexis about to sat up his gazed wandered and landed on the pulverized stone near the fence, his blissful face suddenly contorted as painful past and future breeze through his mind.

“What's wrong?”

Alexis turned back to normal and he took Tron's help to stand before he replied, “Its nothing, I just remembered...something.”

...

After coming back to his room with a bucket of clean water with him Alexis then cleaned himself off with mud and his sticky sweat.

When he finish putting his clothes on he immediately laid on his bed to not only to rest his tired body but also to practice his magic.

Alexis took out the pebble that he got from the backyard as the one he used the night before was already broken into dust, he raised the small stone that is in between his fingers in his eye level and glare at it with hatred second only to the wyvern, if it has been conscious it would surely shake until it shatters.

The young man took a deep breath to calm his emotions down, maybe its a side effect of the lesson with Tron but his focus was much sharper than before, when he breathed out all the warm air inside he threw the pebble up in the air for nth time.

When it reached its peak it floated only for a moment before falling back straight to his forehead, Alexis didn't close his eyes in reflex unlike the first time he did this, currently he is so focus that he felt that the stone is descending slower than before. Like what he did the last night for countless of times, he let a strand of mana that came out in the middle of his brows flow to the stone and then struggled to stop it before it could hit him.

Not only the pebble training but also the knowledge of using his mana to exit from any part of his body was one of the many knowledge and tips that Lance taught him last night.

The pebble did slow down but it did not stop and when Alexis tried to force it to his focus broke, due to it the tiny stone—

Tok~

Alexis massaged his forehead that started to crease while his other hand tap around the bed until he finally felt where the small rascal. He once again looked at it that is pinched in the middle of his fingertips

“Sigh.”

Small sounds can be repeatedly heard from his room with some grunts and outburst that sometimes followed.

...

Lost in his world Alexis did noticed the ringing of the bells, a sign that the noon already came. He was so focus that even the knocks on his door did not register to him only once they turned to a series of pounding did he finally snapped out of it.

“Its already noon are you not eating you're meal?”

Kyrille greeted first when she saw the door opened.

“Ah? Its already noon?”

“Its passed that—”

Her voice stopped when she saw his forehead that is filled with bruises, its the same as what she witnessed this morning.

“Let me see.”

She grabbed off his hand that tried to cover it and check the wound closer, it was a relief when she noticed that its not as bad as the last time.

After Kyrille's treated it and her hand left Alexis' forehead his stomach all of a sudden cried out in a loud growl.

“There are meal waiting for us downstairs.” she said not minding his redden cheeks before she started leading him downstairs.

Alexis caressed his stomach as he followed her down to the dining table. When they arrived there, the smell of newly cooked meals wafting around the place aroused his hunger making him finished more meal than what he normally takes.

“Are you going to continue practicing until your mana runs out if I didn't came to your room?” Kyrille asked as she watched him order another food.

“I...think not.” Alexis answered after shifting his eyes away from hers.

“So...what's your next plan?”

“I plan to continue practicing mana control, I almost had it couple of times.” He replied as he started shoving food to his mouth again after the waitress delivered his orders.

“What about others lessons?”

Alexis almost choked when he heard that, he hurriedly drank all the water from his cup.

“Haa...don't scare me like that.”

Kyrille chuckled at his stunt.

“I just asked.”

He wiped the forming sweat on his forehead as he sighed, “I am not sure about them, they did not tell me anything about a schedule or did they assigned me a task like Old Man did. Right what about you?” he asked Kyrille when he remembered that she would also teach him.

She caressed her cheek with her hand as she thought about it, “Hmm, you will be thought by Sir Lance about the sword, once you learned the basics of that weapon it would be much easier grasping the rapier, meanwhile for magic you can wait for that after you casted a fireball, so maybe once every five days?”

Alexis felt relief when he heard that but he noticed something in her words. “You will teach me magic?”

Kyrille gave him a proud smile, “Yes, you don't know but I am proclaimed to be one of the most talented magician in the field off life magic in the whole empire.”

“Woah!”

All Alexis could do was showed that he was amazed even though he did not really understand it. Kyrille nodded as she looked at his astonished face certifying his skills.

“Right, I could also teach you noble etiquette.”

“Those fancy tricks?”

“What fancy tricks!? Its an important knowledge to be presentable.”

She pounded the table with her fist making the plates float for a moment.

“Alright! I will learn it.” Alexis hurriedly agreed when he saw that her brows started to furrow. Kyrille eased her brows and pointed towards him, “Then first straighten your back.”

He hurriedly followed her order making his back straight.

“Always keep that up.”

Alexis then finished his last meal uncomfortably as he would be scolded if he ever so slightly bent his back.

He put down his utensils and he said to her, ”I'll be going back to my room.”

“Don't push yourself too much.” Kyrille reminded her.

When he came back to his room he laid down his bed and immediately started his practice. And in the throw number eight(in this practice), with a perfect focus on the stone and smooth connection of mana between them, he was able to stopped the pebble just as its barely close enough to his skin.

Alexis was happy but he learned from the past and did not lose his focus, he slowly lifted the stone away from him when—
