Chapter 22 — First Day...over...

Kyrille shifted her gaze to where a loud beastly cry could be heard, even though they are currently fighting groups of them.

“Young miss do focus.” A stern voice came from Old Man as he casted a defensive spell on her right side.

Clang!

A glowing magic circle stopped the spear-like horns from appearing out the other side of the Kyrille's body, who smoothly drew her rapier in the air, its silver blade then was swallowed by a darker black ink and before the bullhound's feet landed back the ground her weapon flowed into a thrust, landing a point on its abdomen.

The dark coating surged out to the tip letting everyone see the rapier's silver beauty again however in exchange the light in the hounds eyes dims. Kyrille withdraw the piercing blade while elegantly stepping to the sides.

Thud!

When the monster landed it had half of its abdomen missing leaving a cavity for the remaining content inside to fell. The sheath then welcomed its partner.

Simultaneously Tron faced the charge of creature of the same species, he was able to forcibly stop it just with his bare hands without even taking a step back before he twisted its head letting the monster saw a worm for its last moment. The hound then kissed the ground while he dusted off his palms.

“You got an amazing blessing there, young miss.”

Old Man pointed the tip of his staff on the ground then a couple of complicated magic circle appeared, the dirt rose before being molded like clays into muscular human-shaped golems.

She showed no expression about his commendation instead looked where the roar previously echoed.

“Are you worried about the young fella?” the gray-bearded man asked while his staff move to puppet-controlled the two dirt golems to carry the carcasses.

“Why would I be worried about him?”

They did not called for her bluff instead just watched her with warmth.

“Let's go to the next!” she felt them teasing her so he urged them to hurry.

“Alright, alright…then lets go there.” Old Man pointed to some direction with his staff after he opened his eyes.

Kyrille gave a last look in the distance where a light orb also started moving before she followed the two.

...

At the top of one of the trees stood Ezekiel, he watched the sun slowly sleep in the west while the night in the east replaces it.

He then jumped down landing from branches to another until his feet softly landed to the ground.

“The sun's about to set.”

Irushka nodded before she closed her eyes and touched the closest tree bark from her, the mana flow using it as a medium towards its roots which then extended her message towards another tree.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Lance who was watching the fight between Alexis and his fourth enemy, the bullhound, suddenly felt someone tapping his shoulder turning back he saw the tree move its branches like hands. He shifted his gaze back at the young man who had all of his focus evading its predator's weapon.

“Hurry it up the day is going to end.”

Alexis whose newly bought robe was full of scratches gritted his teeth as he pushed his body to jump after a roll barely evading the horn that swiped below him. His feet slid off the sides turning him around once he landed, then the young man held his sword horizontally forward before he run towards the hound, using the momentum of the run he stabbed his chipped sword forward.

Cliiink!

However the horn that was much stronger than steel parried his blade over its head, the creature then opened up its maws trying to bit off a piece of his unguarded abdomen.

Alexis reacted by dodging backwards but before he could create some distance the bullhound also followed him, the two danced around the field for a while before the young man dodge another swiped of horn by doing a roll then he used his left hand as a leverage to help him pivot back around, then he repeated his rush just a moment ago with the difference of his lowered posture, one-hand wielding his sword, and a brief blaze on his blackened leg propelling him forward.

Caught in a surprised by his sudden rise of speed the bullhound took the thrust from the side of its face, the sword was unable to passed on the other side but it mixed the brain really well. Alexis then cushioned himself with the monster as both of them slid the ground sideward.

Thud!

The young man relaxed himself in the warmth of his enemy before he stood up with the help of the horn that he hated for a while.

“Huff...Huff...” he was breathing heavily but a smile couldn't help but crept up from his lips, “Haah...I did it in one try!” he raised his fist in the air in his glee.

“Good work, now you can rest.”

When he heard those words Alexis felt the waves of fatigue hit him and closed his eyes, slumping back over the bloodied body of his prey.

Lance took out a rope from his waist bag while walking towards the two, then he first tied knotting the horns of the carcass before he lifted the young man on his shoulder, finally he turned back and walked towards the tree branch where three more ropes hang.

The man then dragged four monsters with him as he vanished to the dark.

...

“Alexis!”

Kyrille worriedly run towards Lance who was carrying the fainted young man on his shoulders.

“He's just asleep.” The man assured before handing the boy to her.

“What did you do to the kid to make himself this tired?”

Damian curiously pointed at Alexis who had a peaceful dream on the frail arms of a beauty.

Instead of giving him answer Lance pulled the ropes he held dragging out the carcasses from the shadows, two of them were bullhounds, one was the mountain beast, and the largest among his hunt was a moonbear.

Damian went over to examine it and whistled when he saw their state.

“All of them had their heads mutilated, did you teach him about it or something?”

“No I just let him fight monsters we met.” Lance shook his head.

“Sigh.”

“Captain you're a demon!” Ezekiel shouted, cheerfully.

“Its not time for that, the sun will go down so let's hurry back to the camp.” Irushka chided them before moving their spoils towards the cart made of dirt.

The groups had hunted a lot, if ranked by numbers it would be Kyrille's group followed by Heretic's then Damian's and last would be Lance's. Thankfully Ellena had a moonbear two times bigger than what Alexis had hunted as a servant, this creature had a black glossy fur with a circular patch of white in its forehead, they used it to dragged the cart that carries their loots.

The group then made their way back on the camp relaxing on top of her bear's back and following them was both golems and servants that carries other carcasses that couldn't fit the cart anymore.

“Right what about Ellena's servants, would not everyone fuss about it?” Damian asked.

Ezekiel pat the bear's fur while nodding his head, “That's right, they will probably get suspicious once they saw this one.”

“Keep them.” Lance answered simply.

“Its rare but there are magic spells that could make people tame beast into their familiars.” Old Man added his reasoning before taking a sip of his tea.

It was leaves that he picked somewhere while they are separated, he offered others to which they gratefully accepted, leaving their explanations to the magic.

The group enjoyed their trip back to the camp without any monster disturbing, not just because the threatening aura of their mount but also the mercenaries advancements.
