Chapter 13

Hey guys. Sorry its been so long! With work, birthdays, and graduations, its been a pain in the ass for me to write all week long. Good news, school ends on the 23rd so I'll have more time to write! :D

Also, I have ideas for 3 other books that i want to write, so during the summer my schedule MAY look like this.

Day 1- Searful

Day 2- Idea 2

Day 3- Idea 3

Day 4- Idea 4

Day 5- Searful

With that it should be a chapter every 4 days, so hopefully i can make it work.

Idea 2 is a VR-MMORPG, Idea 3 is another fantasy with a bit of a twist, and Idea 4 is a dungeon master type book. Think slime dungeon.

So with that, enjoy.

BTW: Changed book desc so now you will not be killed with names.

Chapter 13-The Fight for Supremacy

Sear left the town and went back to his cave, deciding to create more creatures. He stared at his creations and realized that the next thing he needed to do was gain better control over the bones.

He sat down and picked up what looked like a human femur. It was too small for what he needed so he joined it with another by molding fingers around the center. In the end, he was left with a large stick that had a bump in the middle. Concentrating on the bone, he began to imbue it with his energy.

When he felt his mind take control, he began to slowly condense the bone stick making it thinner and thinner, all the while it began longer. When he finished, he had a bone shaft the height of his body, the width of a finger and the length of his forearm.

He gripped it, and with all the strength he could muster, jabbed it towards the stone wall near him. The shaft went a foot into the wall, before chipping into hundreds of bone shards, many of which went into Sear’s own hand.

“Shit!” A good ten minutes of pain and misery later, he had fished out all the bone shards from his hands. At least he thought so.

Sear now made ten more of the same shafts. By the tenth, he could tell that it was about 2 millimeters thinner than the last. He continued until he got what he wanted.

He had an unsharpened sword, basically. It was a 3 meter long shaft of pure white bone. He had made the entire length about 5 millimeters thick. The edges were somewhat sharpened, but nowhere near what he wanted it to be.

Once again, he thrust it into the stone wall. This time, all 3 meters of the sword slid in. It also didn’t crack. He took it back out, and made a handle that would fit its size. It would look like a bludgeon if it wasn’t for the uneven shape.

He picked more bones and continued to mend them together while compressing it. In the end, he had a 3.5 meter long bunt claymore. He put it back into its hole in the wall and began to move back to the town, wanting to see what he could do now that he had assigned himself as king.

With a grin, he walked out of the cave with his small pack behind him.

When Sear arrived at the gate of the wall, he was surprised to see a large group of well over 100 guards glaring menacingly at him. Confused, he continued to stare, until he found the leader.

Sitting upon a large steel chair on a platform carried by slaves, was none other than the same noble who had attempted to kill another. When he realized he had been noticed, he began to talk.

“Sear! You are now wanted by the Town of Eldridge! I, as the strongest noble, have made myself king and you are now wanted for treason and attempting to take the crown!”

“Ahh, so that’s the town’s name, Eldridge.” Sear laughed it off and continued to stare at the group.

“Surrender now Sear, or we will be forced to take action!” Instead of doing anything, Sear just stared at the man on the “throne,” and waited. Minutes passed as he could see both the guards and the “king” begin to sweat.

After another minute, he could see regret in some of the guard’s eyes. Happy with his success in the psychological battle, he charged in.

“Flashings and Guardians, stay behind and let me do this alone.” His creations just stood while watching Sear rush into battle. Be thought he saw one of the Guardians get saddened because it found out wouldn’t be able to fight.

Paying attention to the guards once more, he saw that they had pulled their weapons out. They formed a wall of shields, and anywhere there was space, spears stood out. He smiled, seeing that the barrier was slightly wobbly as the men were still fighting a mental battle.

Sear felt his bloodlust coming, and showed it to the world. Many of the guards collapsed onto their knees and some even shit themselves.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

The others began to hunch over and looked like they had just seen a ghost, not that it was impossible in their world. Sear continued to rush in.

Right before he reached the wall of shields, Sear lowered his body almost parallel to the ground, as launched himself through men’s legs. Once through, he strengthened his grip upon the floor and spun, kicking countless guards into the air.

He got up, and took in his situation. He was now in the middle of a pack of guards. The guards all around him dropped to their knees, and a few even fell unconscious as they now felt the power radiating off of him.

The pressure they felt was onto second to them having to carry a mountain on their backs. Sear now moved on to his next plan.

Summoning a large scythe in his hand, he began to spin it around him while walking towards the nearest standing guard. The guard ran in, attempting to surprise and injure Sear. Instead, Sear whipped the scythe from his back and with a slash the man’s head got lobbed off. It landed in the arms of another man, who fainted from the sight.

Grinning, Sear continued to move forward all the while attacking anything that got in his way. Soon enough, he turned into a tornado that flew through ranks of men.

All around men screamed as limbs were cut off, while some suffered a worse fate as Sear cut a few men in half, both vertically and diagonally.

After a while, he had reached the noble. All the guards around had either been killed or had fled from the battle, cherishing their life that was almost taken away.

“Im, impossible! How can one man defeat an army of hundreds of trained soldiers?” The noble began to slowly crawl away, while Sear continued to increase the pressure he put on the man.

Soon enough, the noble was unconscious and Sear was dragging him back to the town square.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once the noble woke, he was astonished by what lay around him. He didn’t even care that he was in a cage.

All around, the village had been changed, the once red stone town hall was now turned into a tomb of bones. The entire building, from the throne to the walls, had been remade from bone, and mended together to create a nice surface.

The town around him was darker too. The pavement had turned pit black, and the lampposts seemed to give off an eerie blue light. Some of the houses had bones and skulls melded in random areas.

In the distance he could also see walls that went up a good 15 meters. The walls were made from the red stone, and had bone towers that went up for at least 10 floors. He turned back to the town hall and took in what he saw.

The chandeliers now, instead of having golden candles, instead held skulls with black and red candles within. The wax dripped and formed stalactites hanging off of the jaw. The guards were now replaced by Sear’s minions, and the throne held a large skeleton that seemed to belong to a mermaid in shape.

Upon that very throne sat Sear, wearing a golden crown that was lined in bones. The entire village had become bone themed. Sear now spoke.

“I see you have awoken. Welcome to the new village of Eldridge! As the new king, I have changed a few things, and the entire village is now much more fortified, and to my liking.”

Sear could sense the hatred coming off of the noble, but he paid no heed to it. He instead looked around at his handiwork and smiled. He had turned the entire city in a crypt of bones. He had infused every single thing in the village with his mana, from shoes to wooden boards, literally everything.

“Guardians, take him to the dungeon and let him rot, I have work to do now.” Two of his guardians moved over and took him out of the cage, leading him down a path to the “dungeon”, more known as a hole in the ground.

He could hear the nobles muffled screams and pleads for mercy, it was soothing. Now that he was done, he decided to go visit the other nobles to see if they accepted him.

He was surprised at how effective his magic was at changing an entire town, but he wouldn’t make it perfect until he took over a city on the surface.

By the end of the day, all of the nobles had accepted him, some nicely, and others with a small amount of persuasion. Going back to the town hall, he created another staircase leading into the room that would become his army barracks. He still had to make an army of skeleton dragons to follow him.

For now though, he had to be happy with the Guardians and Flashings.
