Sam was hugged tightly as soon as she opened the door to her house, feeling the warm feeling surrounding her along with the silent sobs from Brittney, Sam lifted her arms and hugged her back.
After a while Brittney finally released her, lifting her head and looking at her, she saw that Brittney's eyes were red and puffy.
"Sam... I'm sorry... I really I'm... I just got jealous and... And... It was all because I didn't want to lose you... Please forgive me..." She apologized again and again, while in a horrible state.
Sam didn't know what to do, Brittney never acted like that to her in front of other people, the most she did was putting her down and making fun of her, it was the first time she acted like that with her in public, and she wasn't sure how to respond to that, but after seeing Brittney like that and how she seemed to have regretted it a lot, she could only forgive her.
"It... It's alright... Just calm down..." She said while patting her gently.
Soon after they had dinner and went to bed.
Feeling Brittney holding her tightly while sleeping, Sam fell into another state of confusion, Brittney had been like that for a while gentle and loving in a second and... Terrifying in the other.
She thought that it might be her fault and that it was her who was pushing Brittney to act like that, but as time passed, she started feeling more and more confused, especially on those nights she fell asleep crying, with her heart feeling as if it was being crushed, in those moments, she would feel as if she had already done her best, yet Brittney was still having those episodes.
Even though she hadn't cried herself to sleep in a while now, those thoughts started appearing a lot more lately, and they started making her feel even worst, confused and guiltier towards Brittney.
With all those thoughts in her mind, she finally fell asleep.
The next morning as she was getting ready to leave for work, Brittney suddenly appeared in front of her.
"You going to work?" She asked in a faint voice.
"... Yeah."
"... That Judy will work in the same shift as you, right?" Brittney asked again.
"I... I told you that she's my shiftmate, so yeah we will work together..." Sam started having a bad feeling about all of that.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
"... Can you ask of your manager to change you to another shift... I... I think that she's trying to get in between us... It would be better if you just change shifts, don't you think?"
"That can't be done... Changing shifts is hard and the other two don't have any reason to do so..." Sam answered.
"Then... Then can't you change your job... I seriously don't like that Judy... She will only bring us trouble..." It seemed that Britteny was hell-bent on separating Sam from Judy.
"Brittney... You know that finding another job like the one in the jewellery shop will be hard... The pay is great, the manager is understanding, and... And the shiftmates there are really great... So... So I... I won't leave." Sam refused her entirely, and even though she was stuttering, she showed her determination.
It was quite apparent that Brittney was surprised because Sam denied her, it had been such a long time since something like that happened.
But she just stood there watching Sam while clenching her hands, she didn't do anything, she just looked at her.
"... See ya later... I'll be back in the usual time..." Sam didn't want to stay any longer, neither did she want to talk about that subject anymore, so she paid her goodbye and left.
She had a weird feeling as she stepped out of the house, even though she seemed normal on the surface, for some reason she couldn't understand, her heart was beating so fast.
While sitting in the taxi going to work, She put her hand on her chest, feeling her beating heart which hadn't calmed down till then.
"Hey, manager, Judy." She greeted with a smile while opening the door and seeing Judy and the manager.
"Sam!" As soon as Judy saw Sam she jumped towards her and gave her a strong hug, surprising her and the manager both.
"Come on, whoever sees you will think that you haven't met in ages." The manager said while hitting the back of Judy's head and shaking her head.
Judy turned around smiled at the manager before holding Sam's hand and going to the staffroom.
She too hadn't changed yet, so she led her as they went to change and to ask her while no one's listening.
Closing the door behind her Judy asked in a hurry:
"So nothing happened when you returned home yesterday right?" While asking that she scanned Sam to see if she can catch anything wrong.
"Nothing happened... Please don't judge Brittney with what happened yesterday... She's just easily triggered..." Sam said with a troubled expression.
"I just didn't like how she treated you? She shouldn't have done that." Judy said.
"..." Sam didn't know how to answer.
Sam stood there thinking about all that had been happening for the last few days, ever since Judy gave her the glass puppy keychain, she felt that a lot of things had changed, yet also as if everything was still the same.
Looking at Judy who had already turned her back to her and started changing, Sam started spacing out.
She was sure that Judy was the source of all the change and thinking about that, she couldn't stop herself from smiling to herself.
"Hehe... What are you looking at and smiling like that?" As she was still lost in her thoughts, Judy's voice returned her to her senses and she couldn't help but blush after she noticed that she had been smiling blankly at Judy while the latter was changing.
Seeing her like that, Judy laughed to herself before saying while leaving:
"Hurry up and change, we have a long day coming."
Sam followed her with her eyes as she left, before smiling to herself again...
