Vegeta refused to open his eyes yet. He knew he was in a tough situation and had to prepare himself for the possibility of escape from the man dressed as a bat. He was feeling better than he was when he passed out and that gave him satisfaction that he was stronger than Kakarot in that facet. With a deep breath, he opened his eyes to see a barren jail cell with a dark-blue wall of translucent energy for a door. He wasn't surprised to see the restraints on his arms and legs, nor was he surprised to see a green man standing on the other side of the force wall. "May I come in?" The green man asked plainly, seemingly devoid of any major emotion. Vegeta couldn't help but bark out a laugh. "Please, by all means, enter." The force field dropped and the man entered the cell. "You'll have to forgive me for not getting up." Vegeta couldn't help but say with a small sneer. A smile danced across the jailor's lips. "And I will ask you to forgive the restraints. We know very little about you and you are hooked up to some rather expensive equipment."
Vegeta interjected "Not to mention the fact that we are in orbit." The green man couldn't hide his surprise. "And how do you know that?" Vegeta shifted in the bed, what little he could. "I've spent years of my life in space. I know the difference between orbit, deep space, and planetary gravity." The jailor stroked his chin. "Fascinating. I would love to ask you more but I need to introduce myself first. My name is J'onn J'onzz. I also go by the Martian Manhunter." Vegeta was puzzled by this. "And what, pray tell is a 'Martian.'" J'onn had anticipated this question since Saiyans seemed to be a brand-new race. He pointed at a display on the wall for Vegeta. It showed the solar system and Mars was circled. "This is my home planet, Mars. Ergo, I am a Martian. What of you, Prince Vegeta?" Vegeta frowned. "Don't bother looking for my home planet. Planet Vegeta was annihilated almost 40 years ago in a different universe." J'onn nodded empathetically. "Then we are both orphans of our homes. My race was wiped out." Vegeta's expression changed to one of shared tragedy. "My condolences."
With a sudden smirk, Vegeta continued "I didn't expect my jailor to have so much in common with me. I'd like to get free of these restraints. I promise no ill intentions while we speak." J'onn was quiet for a moment before Vegeta's restraints flew open. "Fairly quick to trust me there, J'onn. Though I suppose I should not complain." A smile crossed the Martian's face. "I suppose so, but I have my reasons. Tell me more about your home universe." Vegeta sat up properly and swung his legs over the bed he was sitting in, then he sighed. "I grew up under the heel of a tyrant and conquered planets for him until I was strong enough to overthrow him. I never grew that strong, that was my friend... Kakarot. He was sent to Earth as a baby to escape the destruction of Planet Vegeta." J'onn quirked an eyebrow but didn't say anything. "He took an Earth name and we crossed paths a few times until he killed Freiza. I returned to Earth and fell in love with a human woman and raised a family. Kakarot and I kept surpassing each other in strength until we were approached by the God of Destruction of Universe 7, Lord Beerus. We learned of the multiverse then and took part in multiple interversal battles." Vegeta couldn't help but clench his jaw. "We were returning from such one and there was some kind of shockwave that enveloped us in color. We passed out and crash-landed here on your Earth."

J'onn held a firm belief in the sanctity of one's mind and didn't read other's minds without permission or necessity, which he knew was a hard path to tread upon. However he couldn't help reading surface emotions sometimes and he felt the truth of Vegeta's words. "So, why were you in the warehouse that Batman found you in?" he questioned. Vegeta frowned briefly before returning to a neutral face. "I was feeling strangely exhausted and needed a quiet place to rest and regain my strength. Some thieves woke me up and I taught them the errors of their way. Batman appeared and wouldn't let me leave to search for my ship. So, I decided to try and subdue him but my body began to fail me more and more." He stared at his closed fist. "I had thought to test myself against him as well but I was unable to do any lasting damage to allow me to flee." J'onn chuckled lightly "I would be hard-pressed to find anyone more skilled in Martial Arts than Batman. He has devoted so much of himself to battle and has thrown himself into more life or death situations than I can count." Vegeta shocked him by laughing out loud, "He sounds like myself in my youth. I was so desperate to see Freiza grovel before me I would often go into battle without any support. I grew stronger for it, of course, but I also grew colder I think."
J'onn let out a 'hmm' and said "Batman is cold on the surface but he has a core of warmth hidden inside himself. I count him as one of my closest friends on this, or any world." He motioned for Vegeta to get up and follow him. "There's no need to keep you here, I have a good grasp of your character at this point. We will also see about finding your friend and your ship." Vegeta felt hope flare inside his chest and he didn't smother it, he let it burn as brightly as it wanted to. He stood up off of the bed and followed the Martian Manhunter down the hallway.
