Chapter 10

Vegeta simply sat on the ground and closed his eyes as humans in uniform burst into the warehouse. He ignored their yelling, he knew who was in charge of this show for now. It was the Bat. He just had to focus on his breathing and willing his body to heal as fast it can. He refused to be weakened by a mere disease, unlike that fool Kakarot. Maybe he caught it from Bulla, maybe not. He didn't know or care, he was going to get better through sheer force of will alone. His breathing had become more ragged and shallow than it had in the highest point of the battle between the Prince and the Bat. Without realizing it, Vegeta has passed out into a dreamless rest.

Batman spared only a glance for the alien slumping over and turned to the police. Thankfully, Bullock wasn't here but instead Commissioner Jim Gordon. Jim scratched at his mustache and walked over to Batman. "Friend of yours?" Batman turned back to the Prince, "Not quite, no. Seems to be a League problem. Alien." Jim paled and he expressed his concerns. "You know I don't like the League dropping their problems in Gotham. We have enough to deal with as is." Batman favored his friend with a very light smile. "Don't worry Jim, taking care of it right now." Jim softened a little bit at this. "I know you will but it comes at a bad time and I know you know that. Penguin is getting more active and Riddler was sighted in town today as well." He ran a hand through his hair. "I got enough gray hairs as is dealing with local problems. I don't need mad aliens wrecking stuff and riling up the riff-raff." Batman nodded and approached the downed alien. Suddenly someone yelled for the commissioner behind him. He made the mistake he always makes and looked away from Batman who had vanished along with the alien. He trusted Batman well enough after all these years to know that he wouldn't being seeing this spiky haired weirdo again any time soon, if ever. "Alright, make way for the medics, we got wounded!"

In an instant, Batman and Vegeta appeared on the Justice League satellite. They were teleported into a combination jail cell/hospital room. The room served a dual purpose, combining a spartan jail cell with a hospital room. A bed with sleek monitors integrated seamlessly into the wall. Batman wasted no time in hooking Vegeta up to various monitors and handcuffing him to the bed. He stepped back and activated the force shield, it shimmered into life, a dark-blue barrier to prevent unplanned excursions. Batman stalked down the hall to the command center to speak to J'onn in person. The Martian Manhunter was floating in the command center as he usually did, reaching out to multiple keyboards at a time and typing.

His tall figure exuded an otherworldly presence, which made sense as he was not of Earth anymore than Vegeta was. With his distinctive Martian physiology, he possessed dark green skin that had a smooth texture. Unlike humans, he was entirely hairless, and his facial features were both unique and striking. His eyes, usually glowing with a deep red hue, expressed a mixture of wisdom and intensity. Draped over his broad shoulders was a flowing blue cape, clasped together by prominent golden buttons that added a touch of regality to his appearance. Across his chest, a bold red emblem in the shape of an X stood proudly, signifying his Martian heritage. This emblem continued downwards, forming a belt that held up his form-fitting blue briefs, which accentuated his muscular physique. Completing his ensemble, he wore matching blue boots with folded cuffs.

"Greetings Batman. I trust you saw to our new resident?" He didn't turn to look at him but due to his psychic nature he didn't need to. Any of the other Leaguers might have acted affronted but the Manhunter and Batman were usually straight forward with each other. Business first and then maybe banter. "hh. You said Superman encountered another Saiyan? Are they a race you are familiar with?" J'onn shook his head. "Not a race I have heard of, neither has Superman, and I checked in with Green Lantern. Oa has no records of them." Batman frowned at that. -Mysterious new alien race just pops up out of nowhere? This could be a problem.- he thought sourly to himself. "Well, I need to get back to Earth, the Penguin is ramping up operations and I intend to find out why. Alert me when you get some answers from the Prince." With no further preamble, he made his way to the nearest teleporter pad. [I do so enjoy our talks, Bruce.] J'onn sent to his comrade with a smile. Batman couldn't help shaking his head as he teleported back to Gotham.
