As I lie against the wooden door, I read through the bombardment of messages sent my way, seeing how my near-death encounter benefited me. Speaking of death, I didn’t really get the chance to really think about how damn unnatural it was to be attacked by three silver-eyed skeletons or to beat said attackers with magical light conjured out of nowhere. This observation, as well as the stinging pain I feel pretty much all over my body, really cements the fact that the magic and monsters around me have become my new reality, and that I need to fully embrace it if I don't want to lose my next fight.
I should probably check out what's new while I’m just sitting here.
First on my to do list is figure out what stat points are, as I got some when my subspecies increased in level. Thinking about doing as much, I’m surprised to see not a description of what a stat point is, but a section of my status pop up in front of my eyes.
Unused Stat Points: 4
Endurance: 5
Recovery: 32
Strength: 5
Dexterity: 29
Magic Power: 12
Mana Control: 29
I figure that I could have guessed that, seeing as how I got the points as my Recovery and whatnot increased. That probably means I can use these points to increase any of these six attributes, or stats as they are called, but the question is what exactly do these do. I should probably check what they actually affect.
(Endurance):
The stat that determines the user’s basic resilience and stamina.
(Recovery):
The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
The stat that determines the user’s ability to recover from injury and fatigue.
(Strength):
The stat that determines how much power the user’s body can muster.
(Dexterity):
The stat that determines how precisely the user can control their body.
(Magic Power):
The stat that determines the rate at which the user can output mana as well as its quality.
(Mana Control):
The stat that determines how precisely the user can direct mana.
The first four seem pretty self-explanatory, and I think I get the gist of the magic related ones. Basically the Endurance, Recovery, Strength, and Dexterity improve my body itself whilst Magic Power and Mana Control make me better at using mana. They all definitely have their uses, but it looks like Strength and Endurance are what I lack most and also don't get increased when I level up Temiskyr Imp, so I might as well put my points into them. Having a tougher body isn't bad either.
I went ahead and increased both of the stats from 5 to 7, and noticed an immediate change occurred as my pain lessened almost immediately, and I could see a couple of the bluish bruises on my arms decrease in size. At this point, the only pain I still felt was a dull stinging on my hands and tail tip. It kind of sucks that my best skill also happens to be the one that also makes me hurt myself, but that probably means I was right when I thought that Demons were not exactly compatible with Holiness. The only reason I have the skills in the first place probably has to do with that “goddess Iusti” lady in the skills description, which is supported by the fact that the System said I was reincarnated because of a Patron. Now as to why I was reincarnated by some goddess I haven't even heard of before, I don't have the foggiest idea about. Trying to remember the moments before I awoke here still makes me dizzy, so I will just put off getting any answers to that query until an opportunity happens to arise. Now I'm starting to get off track, I still need to find out what my two new skills do.
[Tail Whip]:
Allows the user to swiftly strike out with their tail in a whip-like manner, potentially inflicting lacerations onto your target.
[Brawling]:
Gives the user slightly improved combat ability while unarmed.
Even with [Brawling]’s vague description, I still choose to set the broken sword I picked up earlier beside me, deciding that I might as well stick to what works and fight unarmed, especially since all my offensive skills complement fighting with my body anyways. It's also good to now have an instantly damaging skill that won't catch me in its crossfire. I should probably test the skills out before heading outside again. Besides, I don't feel any pain anymore.
On closer inspection, after the few minutes that passed while contemplating my improvements, all the bruises on my arms had fully disappeared. I don't know if it was me improving my Endurance that did it, or my excessively large Recovery kicking in, but I'll gladly welcome this outcome. Though, if it was the latter, I might be able to practice my [Light Of Justice] with some short breaks in between as well. Getting up from my seated position, I head over to a spacious portion of the room unobstructed by any of the benches or debris.
“To start with, let's test out [Tail Whip].”
After declaring my intent, I instinctively dart my tail in front of me with a *THWACK* in an instant. Startled by the sound, I just stood there for a few moments dumbfounded, before going ahead and taking the time to really get an in-depth look at my tail that I failed to do earlier. I now notice that it is probably around 5 to 6 feet long, almost as tall as me if I retain my past height, based on how the tip managed to strike out a couple of feet in front of me even while the tail is curving around my torso. I try it again, but this time twisting my hip sideways with the motion, and manage to not only send out the tip further, but cause an even louder *THWACK* to emit on impact. Next, I twirl around 180 degrees whilst using the skill, and can feel my tail glide through the air until it finally sweeps out behind me in a wide arc with yet another *THWACK.*
Now to just test if multiple active skills can be used at the same time.
This time as I swish my hip to the side, I think about activating both [Tail Whip] and [Light Of Justice] whilst bracing for the latter skill's pain. After the customary *THWACK,* and a welcomingly reduced amount of burning pain, I glance at the spade-like tip of my leathery tail and smile at the golden glow radiating off of it.
“Hell Yea…”
