I get up, clutching at my side while continuing to try and burn the wound closed with [Light Of Justice], and stumble towards the keys on the floor next to the locked door, picking them up. After trying multiple different keys with a shaking hand, I finally manage to unlock the room and enter into it, shutting and relocking it immediately. I scan the room to find something to rest by, noticing some pieces of weaponry and armor that I plan to check out once I’m not in immense pain, and I wobble over to a nearby crate and sit atop it with my back leaning against a shelf. Once I have gotten comfortable, I then take the time to check out my earnings from the brutal assault.

Well god damn, I doubled my subspecies level from that one encounter. The amount of danger I’m in or how hard I struggle must account for an increase in level growth. While I only gained a couple of levels from my first fight, which wasn't nearly the near-death encounter I made it out to be, I gained significantly more growth this time after an opponent inflicted what would've been a mortal blow in my last life. I wholeheartedly believe I deserve the significant increase in levels I obtained.

Speaking of, before going over the interesting looking new skills, I should use my free stat points and actually check what Titles are before I forget yet again. I evenly split the points the same way as I have been, since a tougher and stronger body would have definitely helped in the fight, maybe allowing me to break through the ice shell easier or reduce how deeply the icy fuck would've penetrated me with its claw. Then before I get sidetracked again, I open my status and focus on the section near the top that says “3 Valid Titles Available,” and a list of what must be Titles appears along with descriptions of each.

Otherworlder:

Chosen Of Justice:

You have been blessed by the Goddess of Justice Iusti herself, becoming one of her few Chosen. Immediately grants the General Skills [Light Of Justice] and [Holy Affinity], as well as having the potential to affect how you develop.

Banebreaker:

You have obtained a skill granting resistance to your Species’ Bane through means not usually possible. Negates the debilitating effect from being affected by your Bane and allows for the potential to obtain any skill related to your Bane. However, you will still take significantly more damage than those without a Bane would from the Category you are susceptible to as usual.

These three Titles either answered something I have been questioning, or gave further evidence to a theory I concocted. It is easy to understand why I received the (Otherworlder) Title, seeing as I got it for just getting sent to this world, and the effects would've been a bit confusing if I didn't see it take effect by changing one of my new Skills into something different. (Chosen Of Justice) pretty much confirmed my theory that this Iusti person must be the one who reincarnated me here, but unfortunately the Title’s description didn't give me a single clue as to why she brought me here. I didn't really believe in gods before, losing faith in their existence over my life, but I guess I have to believe in their existence now that I've been given a new life by one. With a name like Goddess of Justice, I wish she would've brought some “Justice” down on those who enslaved me, but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt until I learn more about her. Lastly, it seems that, either intentionally or unintentionally, Iusti’s blessing gave me the skill [Holy Affinity], which most likely was what gave me resistance to whatever a Bane is. From name alone I figured it must be the Holy Category since it makes sense for that to hurt Demons to my understanding, but I should try to get more information about it anyways.

(Bane):

A Category of Skill or Spell that some Species, Subspecies, Class, etcetera, is particularly weak to. On top of receiving significantly more damage from a Bane than normal, those affected by a Bane will receive a debilitating effect that may weaken, inhibit traits, or do both simultaneously. Most commonly found in Species that are particularly close in nature to or complimented by an opposing Category to their Bane, such as the Bane of most (Fire) creatures being (Water).

Thank goddess that I got (Banebreaker), I'm not sure how bad the debilitating effect would've been, but being weakened every time I used what is currently my best Skill could've been the death of me. Though if the Holy Category wasn't my bane, I might not have been able to close up my wounds and have bled to death, so I guess I'm lucky that I still get burned whenever I use it, no matter how weird that is to think about. Now that that is out of the way though, I can now check out my trio of new skills.

[Temptation’s Tongue]:

Makes it so that the user is more likely to be paid attention to when speaking. Additionally, if the user is speaking in relation to a listener’s desires, the effect is enhanced and the listener is more likely to be persuaded by the user. This is a Skill under the (Enchantment) Category.

[Ice Resistance]:

Gives the user increased resistance to (Ice) Skills and Spells.

[From The Brink]:

No matter how big or small, the user can recover from any non-fatal injury through natural Recovery, as long as enough time passes.

The [Ice Resistance] was self explanatory as I expected, and [Temptation’s Tongue] seems to pair well with [Eyes Of Aspirations], but the biggest boon comes from the skill [From The Brink]. I was worried before if my Recovery could actually handle injuries this severe, but I should not only be able to recover from what I am inflicted with now, but other things such as broken bones and maybe even lost limbs should heal over time as well. I'm not going to test that theory willingly, and I'm still going to avoid getting injured as much as possible, but having this safety net eases my worries quite a bit.

I open up my status again to overlook everything. Noticing the Displayed Title section still empty, I just pick the one I think sounds coolest since it seems to do nothing more than display it in my status. Having done that, I finally bask in all the changes I have gone through.
