Chapter 5
Walking towards the tent, on the dirt path, he could feel the ground shaking much harder than usual. Being around a large group of giants, he was used to the light rumbling of others walking past, or the rumbling of, teenagers playing, but this was closer to an earthquake. Looking around for the source of the disturbance, he could hear a rhythmic stomping coming from afar. Looking around, he saw a massive eight hooved horse dwarfing the other giants coming over the horizon, and eclipsing even his mother, by a large degree. “Holy shit, what is that!”
Riding atop the gargantuan beast, was a giant with massive arms, and covered in steel plate armor, his face was covered by a strong helmet, striped blue and white, with war paint, it went down the entire helmet, going from above his right eye, to the very bottom. It reminded him of old school, Viking armor. The rider's bright red hair, and big belly, truly sold the esthetic. "Wait a second, bright red hair, huge arms almost too big to be real, and a huge belly? Dad?"
"Argath, what are you doing riding the slepnir in town, you’re going to scare your child." Looking up anom could see his mother, visibly frustrated and lightly amused at Argaths foolishness. Argath was looking especially smug as he looked at his child staring up at him, reminding him of the warriors of old legends. “Look at him, he’s not scared!" "He is like his old man wanting to go into battle with us war guards!" "Fighting in the dirt and mud, blocking the enemies from the village, not like your fancy stuck up Sky rippers!!"
Laughing slightly and partially offended she walked up to him, knowing his plans already. "haa… so this is your attempt to make an impression on him, and have him remember it huh?" "Well whatever, when he gets a little older I’ll just have to take him on a fly with me and we will see what he wants to do after!!" "And you and I both know that without those, “Fancy, and prissy” sky rippers you lot would have turned into a bag full of holes, or worse."
Picking anom up from her chest, she looked at him, and then Argath, "but we will let him decide where he wants to go when he comes of age." Snorting in his disapproval and Mild irritation of his sons future role, he replied. "I see what you are up to!" "But ok, we will let the runt decide what he wants to do." "I’ll play fair." "Now let me see my boy, I haven’t seen him all day and you have had him." Staring suspiciously at him, she reluctantly grabbed anom, and took him over to Argath, gently lifting him up to him. “Be gentle with him, and only for a second, ok.” ” Yeah, Yeah, just a second I just want to see him for a second.”
Feeling his massive hand grab ahold of him, he felt him pulling him into his chest, carrying him like a football. Looking around, he felt like he was on top of a giant building, except the building was moving. From here, he could see the village better than before, but just as he was getting comfortable he looked up and saw a spark in Argath’s eyes. "Not Good!" Argath broke out with a wide grin and whipped the reigns in front of him. Crackling like a firecracker, the horse bolted off!! “Sorry, he just looked like he wanted to go for a run! Hahahahah!” Laughing like a madman he shot off like a bullet.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
The last thing he could hear was Saram screaming behind them, “Damn you Argath, I’ll make you pay for this.” And Argath yelling back, “Only if you catch me first” Ahahah” Running at full throttle the slepnir was the fastest animal he have ever been on. Holding his breath he could see the road in front of him begin to blur and the trees on either side of him began to streak together.
Riding a speeding skyscraper was a truly thrilling experience. Laughing as they went along Argath bent his face down close to his and said, “See how great I am!!" "I can even control the biggest Slepnir from the herd!" "This is a real man’s mount, a man’s man’s mount." "Now, those rocs are pretty good too, don’t get me wrong, but you can’t block a hoard from the sky!"
Looking as smug as possible at him, he turned his nose up and said, "your old man’s not too shabby is he. Hehehe, don’t let your mother fool you, I’m the strongest male giant there has been in multiple generations. It’s just that I was born at the wrong, and the right time.
You see your mother is the biggest mountain giant any of us have ever heard of, even the elders. Along with her growth, she had an insane amount of strength that even I can’t beat. Many people from my tribe at the time thought that perhaps she was a half breed with Titan blood or part yotan or some other giant. I was actually going to be the chieftain, but your mothers group discovered our group and challenged us to the right to lead. I was chosen to be the participant, but your mom beat me. Fair and square though.
Even after she beat me I was planning to just leave, but she wouldn’t let me. Told me I was the strongest mountain giant she had ever seen and asked me to marry her. I was actually against it for a while but she eventually persuaded me. I guess vice chief isn’t so bad. But the point is little one, always keep in mind that with strength, anything is possible.
It all turned out for the best though, my village integrated into theirs, and I ended up with a pretty decent wife, and as a bonus I even got you! Just judging from your size I’m betting you’re going to be much bigger than me or your mom. When that time comes, be sure to take care of your old man, alright? Hahahah"
The thrilling ride, slowly turned into a slow trot, as the sun began to fall, and night approached. The small baby nestled in Argath’s arm watched the road and scenery change as the birds and other animals chirped and played. Slowly his eyes began to close, and soon he was asleep.
Time moved on as the days turned into weeks, and eventually turned into years. 10 years passed by as life seemed to quietly move forward. During this time our tribe moved once or twice a year, following the High necks, and taking advantage of whatever else happened to be in the area.
