The morning arrived as quickly as the night went by. As the early morning sun reflects off the glistening waves of the oceans into our inn, I was blinded by it. It made short work of the curtains as I opened them. The scenery was elegant. With a breathtaking view of the ocean and seafront, it was something else. I shook Accel awake and he groaned while turning away. Guess he’s not a morning person. I left Accel alone for his beauty sleep and leave the inn for breakfast. My stomach was growling despite not being a morning eater - which is someone who gets hungry in the morning. But today was different, I needed to get some food in my stomach quick. I went around the city and viewed all the good spots for food that were opened this early and finally found a sandwich shop. I stare at the rosy glass tinted shop of this bread shop, it was fantastic from the outside with great aesthetics. The chef was wearing a chef hat, the bread in the round displays looks fresh and the customers look genuinely happy eating there. Looks like a good place to eat, so I open the door to this bakery shop. Immediately the fragrant smell of the sandwich hits me and I am lured to it. The closer I come the more the rich and intoxicating smell comforts my nostrils. I could even taste the delectation of the sandwich. I ordered the house specialty and went to my seat to wait for my order. Then someone tapped me from behind, it was Accel.
“How did you know to find me here?” I questioned him.
“Well that’s easy, I just go to the status window. Good morning by the way!” Accel cheerfully replied while sitting down.
“Well go and order your food then haha.” I playfully punched him.
We waited for the food to arrive and it did come after a long while. Despite it being just a sandwich, it took some time for the baker to prepare it. The smell wafted its way into our noses, it seems as delicious as it was delicate. I munch into the creamy and sumptuous cheese toasted bread. The yellow cheese was springy and left a trail of cheese as I bite into it. It was absolutely incredible. Accel nodded along as he agreed with my sentiments as he bite into his turkey ham bread. It was not tough but instead soft as an ice cream. Accel gave me double thumbs up as he chows down on his sandwich.
We would finish eating up our sandwich before heading to the potions shop. We drank a good cup of joe with creamer and sugar and it was great. The coffee was just the right amount of caffeine to wake us up for the day while being light enough to not spike our blood levels. I sip the hot coffee as I watch Accel drink his in a gulp. How does he enjoy his coffee that way is a mystery I will never find out.
After the amazing breakfast, we headed to the potion shop. Yes it is the premier potion shop in all of Bayfront and level three of the dungeon. It was coloured a shade of yellow of its roof and a brown dusted building background. There is a huge signboard that says Potion Shop at the very front of the shop. It was extremely noticeable and every adventurer knew of this famous store. As we enter the building, it was flooded with customers and potions. There were people talking, arguing and haggling at every corner of the store. Every inch of this store was properly occupied by potions of every kind.
From mana recovery potions to health potions to dexterity increase potions, there was something for everyone. It was really colourful with shades of rainbows that colours every many potions. There was an emerald green potion, a crimson red potion and even a pink potion. We were absolutely spoilt for choice here. However we were only here for one thing only - mana recovery potions. And the storekeeper pointed towards the sapphire blue potions that sat at a corner of the store. They were beautiful with a slim profile and a glass case. Then out of nowhere, an argument erupts from a customer and the cashier on the left of us.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“What do you mean you don’t have the potion? This is supposed to be the best potion store in all of level three. What is your standards coming to? Such a tiny potion should be available at all times. I demand to see your manager at once.” The tall giant man hollered.
The cashier was shaking, sweating bullets and apologising constantly. I almost wanted to step up to him to interrupt the commotion but Accel stepped forward instead.
“Hey you, please spare the cashier your scoldings. It’s not her fault. Anyways a single potion should not ruin someone’s day. Happiness is a choice. Please go away.”
“Oh if it isn’t Mr. Righteous. Please do not get in the way of me taking the potion shop to task on this simple matter.”
“Oh I will get in the way of you…” Accel stood ready for battle as he unsheathes his sword.
“Are we really doing this now? Come on, give me a break” the giant man leaves the scene in a huff, as he did not want to cause a commotion there.
I heaved a sigh of relief as the situation did not escalate. The cashier was already profusely thanking Accel for diffusing the situation. They even gave us a special evasion potion as thanks for our help in the situation. Accel clinched the bottle in victorious form and applause from the other customers around the shop. And we left the store with our heads held high. However we were careful not to offend the wrong people in this town as there were gangs in Bayfront. That was the one crucial mistake we did not fail to make. We have offended the wrong person. But we would not know it until later.
After the debacle, we went straight to the city library. There, the air conditioners were on full blast and we felt like we were in Antarctica, which was a good thing. However much to my horror, there was not even a single magic book in this whole library. All there was, was autobiographies and history books which honestly put me to sleep. I needed to expand my repertoire of magic skills in order to defeat the increasingly powerful monsters. I was sad that that could not happen while we were in this city. We spent the remainder of the evening trawling through the troves of books that this library had.
Defeated after failing to find even a single magic book, I turned towards the entire city to find my magic books to expand my collection. Unfortunately after searching high and low in the city I still failed to find any. Hence I retreated back to the comfort of my inn instead to read up on dark magic. Apparently this was close to what is considered forbidden magic in this dungeon. Dark magic has the ability to exploit the inner molecules of any living creature and crush them under the darkness. It was certainly an overpowered magic skill as it cannot be dodged. I could not wait to use it in my next battle.
I would spent the rest of the night reading up on dark magic and its various uses. I learnt that you can combine dark magic and fire magic to create black flames that burn forever. That was an interesting combination that I never thought of before. I’m so glad I got my hands on this book. It was a treasure worth keeping forever. I hug the book to sleep as I doze off into the night. The next morning Accel found me drooling onto the book. It was downright embarrassing to say the least.
We left the town after yet another hearty breakfast, but of course this time at a different establishment. We would spend the rest of the day seeing the rest of the city before leaving it for good. This time our destination was the Orc King lair. It was deep within the dungeon, around three kilometres deep in the ground. We quickly started our descend down to the lower floors. We fought mini orcs, to normal sized orcs to now medium orcs. Then we came face to face with a giant door at the end of the lair. On the status bar was a danger signal, the entire bar turned red as we stepped closer to this door. I looked over to Accel who nodded at me, we are going in! We pushed open the gigantic door together and braced for the worst. We walked into a long corridor where there was nothing but a wide red carpet. Then two eyes flash in the darkness. The Orc King was here.
