No longer was it a harmless little slime, this one was ferocious and attacked quick. Upon reaching the ground, it immediately leapt at Accel. Accel narrowly dodged what could have ended his life then and there. It was just a sliver of space of half a meters that separated him and death as the giant slime used body slam to push against Accel. However Accel was swift, he immediately escaped the attack and went on the counterattack. He slashes the giant slime while I ready my fire magic. Then after what seemed like forever, as Accel continued to hold off the giant slime, a rain of fire came down from above.
The health points of the slime went down by just a mere five percent despite the onslaught of fire balls. Edward needed to think out of the box for this one. I cast my first wind element spell followed by a fireball, turning what is a normal fireball and a normal tornado into a fire tornado. It seemed to have great effects on the slime as it flinches backwards and did not dare to move from its spot. Then I cast earth magic for the first time, trapping the slime under thousands of kilograms of sand and dirt. The spell is called earth prison. Using earth prison, the giant slime is trapped in between tons of sand and dirt, unable to move even an inch. Then I used fire tornado again to finish it off before Accel used his ultimate skill, consecutive slash to slash the giant slime hundreds of times. I have no idea where he got the stamina from but I’m glad he’s not my enemy. The giant slime whittled down to just one percent health point before I could do anything else. Then miraculously, it recovered half of its total health through Rejuvenation. A healing spell unique to the giant slime.
This was significantly annoying and prolonged the battle for much longer than we wanted to. And the longer we battle, the more we saw our health dwindle. This was getting dangerous. I started using ice manipulation on the giant slime, turning my wind magic into a tornado of ice. That was turned out to be a critical hit and the giant slime finally died. Turns out its weakness is ice. Took me quite long to figure it out but we’re done here nonetheless. The spoils from the boss is a rare staff and a magic book. Unfortunately, there was nothing for Accel.
I picked up the rare staff and magic book, turns out the magic book was on Rejuvenation the healing spell that the giant slime used earlier on. “This will be super useful!” I exclaimed out aloud while holding the magic book in my outstretched hands. Accel nodded along, we did get something really valuable. I swapped my staff for the rare staff, it includes a plus ten stat on magic. Bringing it to a total of seventeen points on my magic stat. I also leveled up in the process and dedicated all three points to Evasion. Bringing it to a total of nine points.
I congratulated Accel on a job well done. He was delighted although he had also previously killed this boss all by himself. It was nothing new nor special. Still it was something to celebrate. We entered the portal to level three where a new city was awaiting us this time. The city of Bayfront, a city by the seas.
But first we had to get past the mountains of Ascaban. These mountains are extremely steep, one small step in the wrong direction and there goes your life. It was treacherous and tough. The mountains were unforgiving to the weak and Orcs would spawn at the most unexpected of times. We were halfway through one mountain when a bunch of them spawned just behind us, taking us by complete surprise. You could even say we were ambushed. The spawning of the Orcs was completely by random and they were stronger than the slimes. It took quite a lot to defeat each of them. It took a concerted effort of raining fireballs and ice and Accel’s hard work of slashing them one by one. By the end of the first mountain, we were completely exhausted but we knew we had to press on. I used Rejuvenation to heal myself and Accel. But our mana was going low so we stopped by a tree to camp for the night. It rained that night as we huddled against each other and the pouring rain ensued. It was ice cold and wet. The ground was slippery and our equipment were drenched. This was not the journey we expected but one that we needed. It toughened us up to become true magician and warrior. Regardless of the natural elements that nature would throw at us in this dungeon, we will get through it together as one. Accel begin to tell me stories to past the time.

This time it was the story of how he met the love of his life back in the upper floors. And why they separated. Her name was Florence. She was an incredibly beautiful blond who wore cute spectacles and a flowery dress. However unbeknownst to others because of her appearance, she was also a first class mage. She could raze the fields with fire instantaneously and could rain meteorites from the skies. She was that powerful. Nothing could stand in her way. Until Accel found her one day that is. They were in a tiny village and they happened to stay in the same hotel and were neighbours. They bumped into each other at breakfast and everything was history. They were glued to each other from the very get-go and nothing could separate them.
Florence and Accel would go on quests together and defeat boss monsters and reaped their rewards. They tremendously enjoyed each company as tears of joy and sadness were shared in their journey. However they would ultimately part ways as Accel wanted to explore the lower floors while Florence wanted to scale the upper floors. Hence they parted ways after about half a year.
When they said their goodbyes, it was heartbreaking. They knew they would see each other again once Accel starts to scale the dungeon once more but no one knows when that will be. To this day, Accel keeps a tiny photograph of him and Florence in his wallet. It is an eternal reminder that he must get through the dungeon in one piece to find her again one day. And thus, I promised him that day will come soon. Accel smiled as he put away his wallet. Time is of the essence.
We wasted no time and decided to scale the final mountain on our way to Bayfront, our final destination for this level. It was twice as tough as the first mountain. This time the Orcs that spawned were medium sized and knew more advanced attacks. There was even a class of magician Orcs who knew how to cast magic. We would go back and forth as we neutralise their attacks one by one. Luckily there was never a whole horde of them and they were usually alone. Much to my chagrin, I lost a shoe to an Orc as he wrestled it away from me. I spent the rest of the way on one leg as I skipped down the rest of the mountain.
Finally after what seemed like a millennium, we reached the city of Bayfront. It was a beautiful city with towering skyscrapers and looming grass fields. To call it beautiful was an understatement actually. It was serene with a great view of the ocean and seafront. We immediately checked ourselves into the nearest inn. By this time, it was already past midnight and most of the city was asleep. However the lights from the traffic and buildings still kept Bayfront bright. It was a shining jewel in the darkness that was the dungeon.
We collapsed immediately and fell into a deep sleep the moment we reached our beds. We were deftly exhausted and could not continue any longer. Both our health and mana were completely spent. Evidently our shoes were still left at the door and we did not bring them in. An important detail indeed. Also we both had a glass of water at our bedside in case we were thirsty during the night. It is important as people to stay hydrated so that we can be healthy. If we don’t die to the monsters, we should not die to natural causes like thirst. Hence we keep a glass of water close to us so that we can quench our thirst. In the following day, we planned to explore the city of Bayfront. We opted to go to a potions shop where we can buy elixirs that can boost our stats and improve our fighting capabilities. That’s on the agenda tomorrow. Maybe I will even drop by the city library.
