Registration in the guild

It was not until twenty minutes later that they reached the prosperous area of the town, where the building of the Guild was also to be found.

As they approached the Guild building, Thiago and Armelia were struck by the grandeur of its size and design. Li Wei did not, as he had been to the guild many times before and the building was nothing new to him.

The building towered over the surrounding structures, at least three storeys high. The walls were made of stone and the roof was covered with dark, sloping shingles, giving it an intimidating appearance.

Despite its size, the building was not overly decorated, giving it a simple yet imposing appearance. The front of the building was adorned with a large wooden door with intricate carvings depicting mythical creatures and symbols of the guild. The door was flanked by two tall pillars, also of stone, giving the entrance a regal appearance.

There was a constant stream of people entering and leaving the building, indicating that the Guild was an important place.

Before entering the building, Thiago put on a black mask that completely covered his face, which he had bought in the system shop beforehand.

The reason for this was that Thiago thought it would be wise not to show his face when he registered later, so that he could maintain a certain amount of privacy, and no one would know who he was in the future. It was not really necessary, but Thiago did it anyway because you can never be too cautious.

Once inside through the wooden door, the interior was even more impressive than the exterior. The entrance hall was spacious, with high ceilings and several large windows allowing natural light to flood in. The walls were lined with intricate tapestries, probably depicting the history and achievements of the Guild.

In the centre of the room stood a massive bronze statue of an old man, at least six feet tall. Its intricate detail and lifelike features were a testament to the skill of the sculptor.

When Thiago wondered who the man in the sculpture was, Li Wei, seeing his expression of curiosity, explained: "I suppose you are wondering who the man in the sculpture is? Well, that man was an extremely powerful man called, hmm, what was his name again? well, to be honest, I have no idea myself, ha-ha".

"Damn, you bastard, and I thought you really knew." Thiago cursed as he was once again fooled by Li Wei, the first time being in the tavern.

With that brief episode out of the way, Thiago turned his gaze to the vast interior.

The rest of the building was equally impressive, with vast halls and rooms dedicated to different aspects of the Guild's work.

At the back of the hall there was a huge bulletin board on which many of the missions and other important notices for the people who came here were posted.

And most importantly, there was a long counter behind which sat a number of people wearing a particular uniform and a badge, presumably employees of the Guild.

They were handing out mission information and giving out mission rewards to cultivators who had completed a certain mission.

Thiago also saw them registering some newcomers to the guild so that they could accept missions. This was important to Thiago, as he was planning to join the guild to take on some missions later on.

All of this seemed to take a long time, but in fact it was only a second or so as Thiago took in and processed all the visual information in that short time.

As they walked towards one of the counters, which had just been cleared because the person there had successfully registered with the guild and was now finished, Thiago saw many different cultivators standing in this huge inner hall of the guild, which also had seats.

Most of them looked like normal people, but there were also some who looked like they had just stepped out of some sort of magical fantasy work with the strange blue robes they were wearing decorated with moons and stars. They wore rather exotic outfits compared to the other people around them.

These people must have belonged to some sort of sect or something, for none of the people around them showed any change of expression when they looked at them, let alone curiosity.

Li Wei, seeing Thiago looking at them, explained to him: "They belong to the Sky Gazing Sect, that's why they wear those strange robes." Seeing Thiago's sceptical look, he hastily defended himself: "This time I'm not joking, I swear."

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

At this point, Armelia, who had been silent the whole time, seemingly mesmerised by everything around her, chimed in: "What he said is true, the disciples of the Sky Gazing Sect are really known for wearing those blue robes decorated with stars and moons. Basically, everyone knows that. It makes me curious why you don't know such a basic thing."

"Well, Then I guess with your reassurance I will believe him this time," Thiago said, thinking that what she said made sense.

"As for why I don't know, it's simply because I'm new in town." Thiago answered Armelia's indirect question, to which she commented: "Ah, so you just came to Half-Moon Town, which city did you come from?"

Well, let's talk about that some other time," Thiago said when they had already arrived at the counter and Li Wei was already handing out the herbs he had packed in his bag.

Fortunately, the herbs he needed to collect were not of such a high quality, otherwise they would have simply gone bad and lost their medicinal properties if they had been so casually stored in a bag made of ordinary cloth, where all the energy stored in the herbs could easily dissipate.

"I was ordered to collect the eight herbs on this list," Li Wei reached into his pocket and took out a rather dilapidated list with a few names on it, the list he had just mentioned.

"Alright, do you have your Mission Acceptance Certificate?" The beautiful lady behind the counter, who had blonde hair and a fantastic figure, asked in a pleasant voice.

"Yes, I have it," he reached once more into his pocket, which seemed to have an unending amount of room to store his things, and said, "Here it is," while handing a rather formal looking scroll to the lady.

After looking at the scroll for a few seconds the lady put the scroll down again and said: "Well the mission certificate is tur, now I only need to control if the herbs you brought are the right ones and if that is the case then you will get the reward."

"Yes," Li Wei replied, as this procedure was nothing new to him, as he had been here many times before and had handed in his missions.

Nevertheless, for Thiago and for Armelia all of this was quite novel.

Thiago, in particular, was quite impressed by the whole system and was eager to ask Li Wei some questions about the guild later, as he did not even know the name of the guild yet, only that it was a guild, but he had not seen the real name anywhere.

Obviously, he could also ask the lady behind the counter, but Thiago did not know whether this was also a type of common knowledge and therefore did not want to appear like complete county bumpkin, so he would just ask Li Wei later.

He should know at least the basic things about the guild.

After the lady at the counter had checked the quality of the herbs and whether they were the right ones, which had only taken a few minutes, so it had been quite quick, she spoke to Li Wei again: "The herbs are of relatively good quality, and they are the right ones," then she reached under the counter, where there were probably a few compartments where various rewards were stored, and took out a pouch full of spirit gold coins, about two hundred of them, and said: "This is the reward, in this pouch are two hundred and thirty spirit gold coins. Originally, the reward was only two hundred coins, but you have brought back the herbs much faster than it was stated in the mission, so I have decided to give you an additional reward of thirty Spirit Gold coins."

"Oh, thank you then!" Li Wei expressed his gratitude as he reached for the pouch the lady had already placed on the counter.

Meanwhile, Thiago asked Armelia something: "Do you want to join the guild too?" she replied: "Well, I'm not sure, I can hardly do any missions with my strength, so what's the point?"

"While that might be the truth now, who knows what will happen in the future, so you might as well register now, if there is a registration fee, Li Wei will pay for it anyway, so you don't need to worry about it." Thiago tried to reason with her, although he himself did not quite understand why he was doing it, maybe it was just because he really thought it made sense to register now, as it could be useful in the future since they were already here.

"Well, then alright," Armelia conceded.

Juist then Li Wei moved to the side and called them to come forward for the registration, which Thiago and Armelia promptly did.

It seemed that Li Wei had already told the clerk that Thiago and Armelia wanted to register with the guild, as she asked them when they approached the counter: "You both want to register, right?"

"Yes," Thiago and Armelia replied in unison, to which the clerk pulled out two forms from under the counter and said: "Well, you have to fill in this form and then the registration is almost complete."

"Oh, well," they both agreed, a little surprised that it was so easy to register, but they didn't think too much about it and started filling in the form.

As Thiago read through the contents, he felt a little strange because the guild did not even want to know your real name or anything personal, just a pseudonym you wanted to use, or if you really wanted to show your real name, you could use your real name, and the most important thing that was written there, in bold letters, was 'I accept that if I join the Starry Sky Alliance, I must carry out at least one mission per year, otherwise I will be disqualified and will not be able to join thereafter'.

Is this a joke? Is this all?' Thiago thought inwardly and looked up from the document to see if the lady was making some kind of joke but seeing that she was still as serious as before, Thiago did not think he was being fooled here, and it was probably really the only two things one had to do.

So, he wrote with a pen that the lady had given to both him and Armelia that he accepted the conditions and then, seeing that there was really nothing else to do but write down a pseudonym, Thiago thought for a while to come up with something that suited him or that he liked.

'What would be a good pseudonym?' Thiago wondered inwardly, when suddenly a name crossed his mind – 'Yama'.

He thought it was a good pseudonym, sounded good and had a meaning, so it was really his best choice at the moment. Nevertheless, this pseudonym does not have much importance at the moment.

If the lady at the counter had seen the face of the person who wrote down his pseudonym, what use was the pseudonym, you might ask, and the answer is simple, no damn use at all, at least if you show your face when you write down the pseudonym, like Armelia next to him, who wrote down her pseudonym or real name without wearing anything to hide her appearance, but Thiago was wearing a mask, so for him it actually made a difference and could be useful.

Once he had decided on the name, he quickly wrote it down on the form and then handed the finished form to the lady behind the counter, who tactfully did not openly look at what he had written on the form, as that would have been extremely disrespectful.

But who could guarantee that she would not look at it later?

Then Armelia handed in her completed form and the lady asked them to pay twenty spirit gold for the registration fee, which Thiago told Li Wei to pay as he still had no money.

This reminded him that he should buy some spirit gold in the system shop later so that he could also buy a house or a place to sleep so that he would not have to sleep in the inn all the time.

After Li Wei had paid the money, the lady gave Thiago and Armelia each a special badge with a few stars on it, explaining that this was their personal badge, on which the points could be recorded that they would get in addition to the rewards they would receive after completing a certain mission. And these points could later be used to buy various things that the Starry Sky Alliance sold in exchange for those points.

After that, they took their badges and left the guild, as they had nothing else to do there for the time being, and Thiago did not want to accept a mission yet, as he had other important things to do next...
