Prologue 0.1: The Beginning

"I create truth but I am not truth. I create lies but I do not lie. I stand and the end of time, and the begining. Forever alone, surrounded by friends. Suprise mother fucker, I eat chicken. Rose are red. Violets are blue. I put a bullet in W.R.'s head."

----------------------------------------

I didn’t expect my day to go like this. If you were to say I was to die today. I would’ve laughed it off... No, I would’ve skipped school to have one last breakfast with my family. It started like any average day.

I heard a faint noise creeping up on me in my half-dead state, lightly breathing like a cat stalking its prey. A feeling of dread hung over my head like a sickness, waiting for me when I am at my most vulnerable. A Halloween pumpkin raced through my mind, laughing, screaming, tearing. My heart racing as sweat poured down my face. Was I awake? Or dreaming? As it gets closer, closer, I breathe faster and faster. Then, a sudden jolt wakes me up. I wake up to see my monster. Scared shitless, I did what anyone would have done. Flip the fuck out. “Motherfucker!!! What the hell!?!?!”

“Mom!! Eric is swearing!!” the beast giggles in a feminine tone.

“Pride attacked me!” I shouted for mom. As I rub my eyes, I see the image of a white-haired girl with red eyes was on all fours towering over me. She wore violet pajamas which were all wrinkly and her hair matted. Her face and body were slim like a cat and probably as deadly as one, too.

Mom’s voice reverberated from the kitchen. “Both of you aren’t ten anymore! Pride, I told you to wake up your brother, not crush him.”

Pride looks over to the origins of the voice. “I did,” she cheekily responds and then looks back at me, “You just didn’t say how.” Prides body towers over me as her long white hair flying in my face.

“Are you going to move?” I ask my sister. My violet eyes stare into her red irises. We stared into each other’s souls for a bit, trying to read the others’ thoughts.

“No, I don’t feel like it.” Pride brushes her fingers over my face, stroking my eyebrows like petting a cat.

In the hallway stood a white-haired girl with white eyes. “Are you going to kiss Eric again?” She wore a black pajama dress with a hoodie covering her face. Her face lacked any emotions, like a doll with no will of its own.

“Kay, in some places around the world. It is normal kissing someone is a greeting.” Pride still makes eye contact with me.“Go bother Ace. Ask her to pick out your clothes, then say no to every outfit she picks. When she has gone through every item, pick up the clothes I hid in the corner.”

“Ok,” Kay said, walking away.

“Now.” Pride, now pinching my cheeks, said, “Where were we?”

Kay came back into the pink room. “I forgot to say this. But mom said you have fifteen minutes.”

“Ok!” Pride quickly replied, “We’ll be down soon.” Kay left the pink room, the sounds of her footsteps echoing as she walked down the stairs. Pride got up close to my face. “Where were we? Oh yeah! Give me a kiss.” Her face’s leaning into the point where our lips were no more but an inch away.

“No matter what you say. It’s still weird. So no.” I said, pushing her head back.

“Not even a good morning?” She playfully asked, her nose touching mine.

“Fine.” I look to the side and look back at her. “Good Morning!” I kneed her in the crotch.

“OHHHH! Don’t touch me there, brother!” She moans. Pride flips her head back and back forward, licking her hand. “You’re getting me excited.” She left me speechless, my face turning red. She fell on me like a brick saying, “So you wanna play rough?”

I laid there in silence, screaming in my mind, “Play dead, this it will be over. Pride is just trying to get a reaction out of you.”

Pride laid there for a moment before whining. “Aw. You’re ruining the fun.” Her hair, covering my face. She got off of the bed and me. “Girls like it when you play rough.” She said looking back at me with her devil eyes.

“Yeah... right,” I grumbled at her, rising like Frankensteins monster rising from its table. I was struck by lighting, if lighting weighed about 100 pounds and was the child of Satan.

“That’s why you haven’t had a girlfriend yet.” Pride teases, heading towards the mirror closet door.

“And you wonder why you don’t have a boyfriend. You have a personality of a sadistic brick.” I smugly said.

“I bet Em would love it if you were like that.” Pride mimicked another girl’s voice and wrapped her arms around herself. “Oh! Eric! Not there! That is too rough! Ah! Oh–”

“EEEEEK!!!” I shoved my head into a pillow, screaming. “NO!! She is not!!” I was too flustered to continue talking.

“You’re adorable when you get nervous.” Pride laughed. She started taking off her purple pjs and pants.

It had taken me a bit before I could talk. “Will you ever change into your own room?”

“What’s wrong? We are twins. You have seen me naked a bunch of times. I don’t mind you taking a peak.” She brushes her hair. “Remember when you were too scared to take a bath alone?” She teased.

My face, still in the pillow, raised my voice. “We were six then! Plus! I’m your brother!”

“But you’re still too scared to take a bath alone!” Pride mockingly said.

“And you’re afraid of the dark.” I bite back.

“That’s why I have you. You are my cuddly buddy.”

As I rested there, I recall the dream I had last night. It has been the same one for three years. Ever since I saw it, Hallow Eve. A tall skinny figure was twice the size of a human, with vines covering it and a pumpkin head. Pumpkin squatted over a man ripping him apart, blood everywhere. As I tiptoed back, I then caught my foot on a twig. The pumpkin stopped tearing at the man, twisted its head around like an owl. Its triangle of eyes burned as bright as the pits of hell. It had a devilish smile to compliment the fire leaking out of the holes.“𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝓂𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝒶 𝒻𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝓅𝓊𝓂𝓅𝓀𝒾𝓃.” It then stood up and started chasing me like a demonic basilisk lizard. I ran, I hid, but no matter what, it kept chasing me. It was toying with me. It kept saying, “𝐼’𝓁𝓁 𝓂𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒷𝑒𝒶𝓊𝓉𝒾𝒻𝓊𝓁!! 𝒮𝓊𝒸𝒽 𝒶 𝒻𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝒸𝓇𝑜𝓅!!” As I was running, the pumpkin appeared out of nowhere in front of me. I fell backward as the burning pumpkin towered over me.“𝐼 𝑔𝓊𝑒𝓈𝓈 𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝑔𝒶𝓂𝑒 𝒾𝓈 𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓇. 𝐻𝑒𝒽𝑒𝒽𝑒𝒽𝑒𝒽𝑒!!! 𝒜𝐻𝒜𝐻𝒜𝐻𝒜𝐻𝒜𝐻!! 𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝓂𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝒶 𝒻𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝒥𝒶𝒸𝓀-𝒶-𝓁𝒶𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝓃!!” As it was about to cut into me with a huge thorn, a flash of light appeared, then it disappeared.

“Well, you can look up now.” She grumbles, breaking my train of thought.

I peak out to see she is in the middle of pulling up her pants. “Come on!” I look away.

“What?” She acted like she did nothing wrong. Pride is wearing a white shirt with red words saying HEARTBREAK. Over the shirt was a light blue sweater with a hoodie and with strings. Her pants matched her red blood eyes. “I also picked out some clothes for you.” She whistled. As she leaves the room, she looks at me, grinning. “You have less than two minutes left. Oh, yeah.” She stared off into the distance like a sad puppy, “Happy Birthday.” Without another word, she vanishes like a ghost. Not even her footsteps echo down the stairs.

“Sigh... I thought so.” I get up and grab the clothes that Pride had left me. “Let’s see what we got.” I skim through the clothes; violet pants, a white shirt, and a green sweater. I look in the mirror to see a blood-red face in medium spiky black hair. My red clothes matched my face. “Well, I guess this is what I have… Sigh. Did she waste my time on purpose?”

I pull off my shirt and throw it at my wooden desk near the door, missing the blue laundry hamper and crashing into a shelf full of transforming robots. “My Machinaformers!” I reach towards them dramatically. “Forgive me, Honeybee and Optimum Primar!” Placing my hands over my face. “Your sacrifice will not be in vain. I will avenge you and nail that math test.” Pieces of unfinished tech laid in the corner there as well. “Shit. Is it safe?” I walk over to the pile and grab a silver cylinder with blue lights on the top and lines on the side. I click a button, green words saying safe lit up. “Good.” I placed it in a hole under my shelf and covered it with fake flooring.

I grabbed the white shirt. I was about to put it on when I noticed a red mark on my right arm. It was painful to touch, and it itches. “I need to put on more sunscreen. Sigh. Oh well. I have to- HACK!” I started coughing violently into my hands for what seemed like an eternity of red. After my coughing fit, I looked at my hands to see a bit of blood on them. Wiping the blood off my hands, I finish getting dressed and head downstairs.

I came downstairs out of breath. I had on violet pants, a white shirt that said HEARTACHE in red, and a green sweater like Prides. As I entered the kitchen, the smell of flowers covered the room. It is the benefit of having a flower shop downstairs. Inside the kitchen, mom was standing by the frigid, bringing out an orange juice carton. Yuck.

“Aw. You two are matching.” Mom said. She got up in my face and pinched my cheeks. She was wearing a bright pink dress with white Holly and Narcissus flowers.

A young woman with short brown hair had her face planted into the kitchen table. Kay and Pride are sitting on each side. “I did what you said, Pride,” Kay said emotionlessly. She bites into an apple.

“So it was you!” Ace turned to face Pride. “I have spent the last fifteen minutes picking clothes for the doll!” Ace grabs Pride and flips her full circles into the ground.

Mom turns around with demonic velocity and shouts to Ace. “Do not call Kaylee a doll!”

Ace didn’t say another word and sat there, pulling a plate of waffles towards her to eat. “Sorry, mom,” she whispers as she ate. Pride got up off the ground, sitting back down in her seat.

“It’s alright. Ace was comparing me to a commodity. Is that wrong?” Kay said like a hand puppet.

Kaylee, unlike Pride and I, both her eyes and hair were white as snow. Her skin was quite pale compared to the rest of us. She was like a lone white chocolate bar among a rack of milk and dark chocolate. Kaylee wore a plain white long-sleeved dress and leggings. A white sun hat blended into her long, straight hair.

“I love family breakfast,” I said, sitting down next to Pride.

“It’s cute how you two do everything together.” Mom said.

“We don’t do everything together,” I said with a mouth full of waffles.

“Speaking of cute!” Mom walks giddily towards the fridge and pulls out a round plate covered in tinfoil. With the same energy she had going towards the fridge, she sets the plate in front of us. “Happy birthday!” Mom, Ace, and Kay shouted.

“I thought we were doing it today after school like we always do,” I said, slightly upset.

“I know, but I thought I would surprise you. I know you say you’re too old for a party. But there is a surprise for you when you get home!” Mom’s body could not hide her excitement. Her arms and legs are shaking, and also her voice, changing tone rapidly.

“Is it a surprise party?” I already knew the answer, but I might as well put on an act. I might hurt her, plus it would be a waste of time and effort not to act surprised.

Pride pulls off the tinfoil to reveal a half pink and black cake with black and pink words saying “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” Kay placed eighteen red candles in a circle. Everyone huddled towards us and took a picture.

“Make a wish!” Ace said.

We look at each other and synchronize our timing to blow out the candles. “So what did you wish for?” Kay asked.

Pride looks and mom. “For mommy to tell me the truth.” She created the same awkward setting that happened a few days ago. Pride confronted mom about adopting us. She had found adoption papers for Kay and asked questions that mom couldn’t handle. It ended in a yelling match with mom in tears and Pride not talking to her for the rest of the day. I was unfortunate enough to get in the middle as I tried to cheer up mommy. She yelled at me, which paralyzed me because she had never yelled at us like that before.

“How about a piece of cake?” Mom said, cutting the cake and handing out slices.

I ate my piece of cake, lost in my thoughts again. “Is it true? Do I want to know? No. Yes. No. Yes. I don’t know. Does it matter? Yes? No? Do I like pancakes or waffles? What am I thinking-” I hear Ace shout, “It’s time to go!” She was already in the car with Kay.

Pride and I quickly grabbed our bags, dash towards the door. We were already at the door when mom pulled us by our bag.

“Wait!” Mom said, rushing towards Pride and me.

“What? Does Pride have gum in her hair?” I said, poking Pride’s forehead.

“No, I just wanted to say goodbye and that I love you.” She rubs both of our faces with her hands, tears in her eyes.

“Goodbye. We love you too,” we said in unison.

“I am sorry for yelling at you last night,” Mom’s eyes were tearing and her voice breaking. She pulled our heads closer to her as she continued. “It was a sensitive topic. I just wasn’t ready to tell you. But you are old enough now.”

“It’s ok, mother,” I said.

“Ha! You still call mom mommy.” Pride snickered.

“Shut up.” I glared at Pride. “Can we go, mommy?” Shaking with anxiety.

“Wait just a minute longer.” Mom was now crying. “No matter what, the three of you are my children. And I will always love you.”

“Ok!” I responded anxiously. I don’t want to be late for school.

Mom let go of us, tears covering her face. “We will talk more when we’re making bouquets. I want to see this special combination you guys created.” Rubbing tears off her face, “Just remember I love you with all of my heart.”

“We love you too,” we both said in unison. We waved goodbye one more time before we left. Little did I know that was going to be the last time we were a family.

“So,” Ace said, her brown hair flowing out the window. “How does it feel to be an adult?”

“We don’t turn eighteen until midnight. So I don’t know.” I said, looking out the window.

“You don’t have to be a smart ass about it.” Ace smiles.

Outside the window, I saw what looked like a pumpkin hopping from building to building, following us like a lion stalking its prey. I watch as it hoped over and over and over like a bunny on crack.

“Hey! What are you looking at?” Ace asks, her eyes glued to the road.

“Nothing… I just thought I saw something.” I turn away from the window towards my sisters. “So you’re browsing Bitter again?”

“Yes!” Pride raised her hands in the air and parted them like a rainbow. “Bitter. Where bitches go to complain.”

“I do not understand why you even have that.” Kay is drawing in an art book.

“Well, when-”

I cut Pride off. “LOOK-” I wasn’t able to finish as a truck slams right into the driver’s seat.

The car spins out of control as I watch it happen. Left becomes right, and right left. The outside is now a blur of grey and green. Just looking out there almost made me puke. We were all screaming bloody Mary, except for Kay, who was sighing as her drawing becomes ruined. Our spinning finally stops as the sound of glass breaking and metal shattering. The orchestra of chaos screams then everything goes black.
