Red gripped the table as the entire garden room began to shake, watching as the Alchemical Oak trembled like it was in some massive windstorm. Blooms of light resembling psychedelic flowers appeared all around the garden like fireworks as whatever the ‘weird’ effect taking place was dispersed.
“Red! What’s happening?!” Addison yelled in panic as she watched a fairy-blitz happen overhead, the colors both astonishing and terrifying. The fey within the dungeon were all in a panic, trying to make sure that the plants of the garden were not destroyed by whatever happened next.
“These worms have a random effect! They’re changing the room!” Red shouted before he tried to think of what to do in order to keep Addison safe. He looked around before realizing the perfect solution. He raised his build menu up and selected the shaping tool from the top, suddenly making a dome of earth appear over their heads. He hoped that whatever happened, he would be able to get the room back under control quickly this time.
Addison cowered on the bench, looking terrified as she tried to handle the gravity of the situation that was going on. Red felt a guilt deep in his heart as the little girl cowered in his dungeon once again, and this time because he didn’t have the foresight to check what he was summoning. He should have checked what the worms did when summoned, rather than just throwing caution to the wind.
“I am sorry, Addison. I should have been more car-” He was cut off as he felt the shaking stop, pausing for the moment as he tried to understand what was going on. A gentle thunk thunk resonated against the side of the dirt dome. He gently pulled down the dome to find that the majority of fairies and fey were looking around in confusion. There seemed to be nothing that had changed from Red’s immediate perspective.
He looked to the side and found a very tired looking Lotus glaring at him as she waited for an explanation. “Well? You can’t go half a day without another emergency?” She asked as she tapped her foot, her eyes still a bit puffy from the fact that she had been pulled out of her room for this.
Red was about to open his mouth and explain what was going when a new pop-up finally decided to make itself known. He gave a sigh as he looked at it for a long moment, finding nothing but frustration in how his luck seemed to work.
Weird Roll
The only thing weird here is dumb luck!
Reward:
Endless Expansion - It’s bigger on the inside.
The room this weird effect takes place in will continuously expand permanently until the weird object(s) are removed. If Endless Expansion is not stopped before the space reaches three miles, it will become a permanent effect
“Well… on the bright side it looks like it is a positive effect. I was worried for a good moment.” Red sighed as he looked at Lotus and then at Addison, the relief in their expressions clear as his words registered. They had both been holding a lot of tension in their shoulders, which was fair because the garden seemed like it was going to explode just minutes ago.
“You need to cool it. Doing things in the dungeon on the same day as stressful events is not good for anyone here.” Lotus said firmly as she pointed at Red, Addison following her finger to pinpoint just where Red’s face was. She couldn’t help but wonder what he looked like, her young mind already over the stressful situation that just happened.

“You’re right, I need to calm down. In all fairness I didn’t know it would happen. I was just trying to have some fun with Addison.” He said with a sigh, rubbing the back of his neck as he avoided eye contact with Lotus. He felt like a real fool at the moment, especially since this one could have easily been avoided.
“I am not back from that horror show we caused this morning, Red. As much as I appreciate you and everything you have given me, we do not need more stress right now.” Lotus implored him, taking his hand gently. Her eyes were still red from crying, bags showing a need for sleep.
“I understand, Lotus. I pro-”
“It wasn’t Red’s fault, it was mine. Please, your majesty. Don’t get upset at him because I picked the weirding worms.” Addison said with a frown as she sniffled, far more guilt on her face than Red’s. The little half angel was staring at the ground, sniffling slightly as she tried to handle being the one to cause trouble. She seemed like the type of kid that would do chores to make an adult smile.
Lotus gently bent down into a squat, her fluffy blue dress expanding outwards on the grass of the garden. “Oh, no. Addison, it’s alright. No one got hurt and that is what matters. We just need to remember that dungeon magic is powerful stuff. We can’t just play around with it.” She said softly as she gently tilted her head up, petting the girl’s cheek with a well manicured thumb.
“Yeah, and it wasn’t that bad. We even got something for the dungeon that really helped!” Red said cheerfully as he tried to get her mood up as well, wishing she could actually see his animated facial work. It was hard to mug funny at a child when your face existed on an ethereal plane while also being made of crystal. He thought about it for a long moment as he searched for a topic change. It finally clicked as he remembered the original reason he wanted to speak with Addison. “I’ve got a surprise for you Addison, since I don’t want you to feel trapped in the dungeon anymore. Lotus, do you think I could borrow you for just ten quick minutes?” He asked with a gentle smile, knowing that the fairy princess was trying to help Addison cheer up as well.
She gave a small glare as she was asked before giving a small nod. “I suppose that i could be asked to step away from bed for a few minutes to see what is new within my domain.” She said as she gently pulled herself off of the ground and offered her hand to Addison.
Addison gently took her hand and began to walk with Lotus, following after Red who was briskly walking across the river of the garden. A bridge formed with use of the shaping tool, allowing the two over before it disappeared once again, separating the main entrance from Addison. The shack stood as a memory of the original, only slightly edited with an additional pair of rooms to make Addison’s life easier.
“You can choose whatever colors you want to be painted, and if there is anything you don’t like inside just talk to Ivy. She can replace it for something more to your tastes.” Red’s text box appeared as Lotus looked around at the outside of the shack.
“I hope that you choose some nice colors, Addison. Because this shack could really use a little bit of color.” Lotus commented, finding that it was especially bland compared to the rest of her beautiful domain. Between flowers and the unique checkerboard grass, the hut left much to be desired of a fairy wonderland.
Addison was beaming as she looked at the incredible sight in front of her, having not expected that Red would actually go through the trouble of making an entire home for her. “It’s so big! And it’s all mine? Are you sure?” Addison asked as she looked at Lotus and then used her to gaze at Red’s general direction. She wanted so desperately to see the being that was helping her, but so far she was stuck with just staring at a section of air that supposedly held his form.
If she could see him, he would be beaming as well at the fact that she was so happy over his surprise. “I’m glad you like it, of course it's all for you. Without you, my dungeon wouldn’t be half of what it is today.” He said softly as he looked down at her, finding nothing but joy and genuine happiness in her eyes. “I want you to know that you are important to this place, not just because you live here.”
“He’s right, Addison. You are my first friend, even if I wasn’t able to speak for the longest time.” Lotus mused with a smile as she put her hand on Addison’s head and gave her a gentle pet. “Also, you don’t have to say your majesty to me when there aren’t any fey around. I always just liked being Lotus to you.” The princess of poison smiled at the little girl before looking back at the house. “How about we head into the shack and see what to change? I am sure that there is so much Red should have put in that he didn’t. It always seems like he doesn’t fully know what he is doing.” She said with a chuckle, getting a smirking glare from Red.
