CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

The story of Ping Feng and his Demonic Dynasty Destroyer sword is known to almost every child in the empire, Li Feng being no exception. Tens of thousands of years ago, an evil dynasty ruled over the entire world. They squashed uprises without compassion, killing entire cities when the faintest trace of resistance reared it’s head.

In that desolate era, a man named Ping Feng, determined to avenge his family for being wrongfully killed, created a sword which had the power to steal cultivation just by touching it. The thievery of cultivation did not happen instantly, but it occurred rapidly enough to label touching the blade as a death sentence.

So, with the Demonic Dynasty Destroyer in hand, Ping Feng set out to enact his revenge. Cultivators of that age were best at throwing heavy punches and overpowering their foes. For Ping Feng, who trained for speed rather than power, just one hit to his body would kill him.

However, Ping Feng never let that happen. Unaided by the life-extending forces of cultivation, Ping Feng fought through hordes of cultivators so that he could reach the emperor. With each cultivator killed by his blade, the sword became faster and stronger, cutting down stronger enemies faster than weaker ones in the past. At the height of the sword’s power, it could kill an Ascendant stage cultivator with just a nick.

When it looked like Ping Feng was about to kill the emperor, a meteorite came down from the heavens and stuck him, killing him and trapping the sword within.

Though Ping Feng died suddenly, the story doesn’t stop at his death. The emperor, stunned from having seen a meteorite crash through the ceiling of his home and squash an invader like he’s squash and ant, suddenly gets assassinated by his own son. The son, a secret empathizer of Ping Feng, saw the moment as an opportunity of secure his position on the throne.

In the end, a hundred years later, the emperor’s son transformed the empire into a happy and prosperous land. Instead of attacking their neighbors, the armies of the empire focused on internal support, killing bandits and protecting trade routes. Diplomacy with foreign leaders once again opened, and peace was secured. At the time of the son’s death, his dynasty completely changed from one of tyranny to one of liberty.

But, that’s still not the end. Through the ages, Ping Feng’s sword has never left the meteorite. The Demonic Dynasty Destroyer couldn’t be pulled from the meteorite by even the highest of Ascendant stage cultivators. Whenever a cultivator touched the sword, they lost the majority of their cultivation and had to start from 1-Mortal all over again.

Because of the countless cultivators who had their cultivation stolen by the sword, the sword was named the Demonic Dynasty Destroyer. For millennia, it has sat in the meteorite, waiting for someone to pull it loose and wreak havoc with it, again.
