CHAPTER TEN

Lam Bai panics, thinking Li Feng is about to be killed, and shuts her eyes as tight as they can get. For the past five years, she’s been the only one in Lord Wen’s estate who cared for Li Feng, even the cooks would prevent him getting a meal if she didn’t step in. Though they’ve had their ups and downs, she’s loved him like her own son for half a decade.

“As expected of the young master of the Li family!” Someone shouts, and Lam Bai opens her eyes. Instead of Li Feng having been devoured by the winged lion, a huge spike of black metal as erupted from Li Feng’s outstretched palm, piercing the winged lion’s skull. The attack surely would have killed Li Feng if it connected, but it didn’t!

“Let’s get out of here!” Lam Bai shouts at Li Feng and stands, and attempts to pick him up. The metal spike, which is not physically attached to Li Feng’s palm, stays cemented in the winged lion’s skull as he is lifted away.

“Yes, back to the estate,” Li Feng says, not even attempting to break free from Lam Bai. He didn’t noticed his life was in danger until the last moment, at which point he used ground magic to make a steel spike pierce the attacking monster.

While Li Feng and Lam Bai flee, additional cultivators are called to the scene to subjugate the escaped demonic beasts. Far away, on a distant rooftop, a man completely covered in block clothes uses the Heavenly Pathway Talking technique to send a message to Lord Wen.

“Something happened. It looked like something a Spirit stage cultivator would produce,” The cloaked figures says.

“Like what?” Lord Wen asks the man, speaking out the window of his third-floor bedroom at his estate.

“I couldn’t see it clearly, but it looked like a palm strike with a stone elemental effect, creating a huge spike to pierce the Golden Winged Lion’s skull,” The cloaked man describes Li Feng’s short fight to Lord Wen, and is met by silence for several seconds.

“Your payment will be delivered to the usual location,” Lord Wen says and cuts the connection, closing his bedroom window shutters.
