The Disappearance of James
"What?!" I asked, my voice shaking with concern.
"James has gone to retrieve the Immortal Wendigo himself? That's too dangerous."
"Yes," responded Claire, her tone filled with exasperation.
"He should have just used a diffrent method for retrieving the case and relocating it." Claire said and I couldn't help but feel slughtly anxious.
The Wendigo was a powerful and dangerous monster, and I hoped James knew what he was doing.
"Sigh..." Claire muttered, her head bowing down. "I hope he doesn't get hurt getting the monster." I simply nodded, silently agreeing with her.
A loud sound of blaring began coming out of the laptop making me jump which I then hurriedly rushed to switch of, I rushed over to the kitchen counter where James had left his laptop and As I opened it, the loud blaring sound that filled the room slowly died down.
"What's happening again? Is it another tornado?!" Gloria shouted from behind me, but I didn't respond. My eyes were glued to the laptop screen, trying to figure out what was going on.
My heart sped up for some reson as the anxiousness within me grew as I heard Jarvis's voice coming from the laptop. "Miss Wednesday, the connection to Sir James has been lost."
"?!?!?" My mind suddenly went into full throttle as I understood what Jarvis just said.
"What do you mean?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Fear and worry gnawed at me, and I felt suffocated with dread.
My heart raced as I listened to Jarvis's words. "Miss Wednesday, James entered a crossroad inside a cave, which would have led him to the Wendigo, when all of a sudden my connection to him and the Wendigo cut itself causing me to lose the positions of both of them"
"What?!" Claire's voice rose in alarm when Narvis said this outloud, and I could hear footsteps rushing towards me. The blaring sound from the laptop quieted down completely, leaving an eerie silence in the room.
"This just happened, and as soon as it did, I notified you all via the laptop. That's the coded first response," Jarvis said.
I felt a lump form in my throat as I realized the severity of the situation. "So, you're saying that something happened to James?"
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
"What happened? Why did the connection fail?" I asked Jarvis, as soon as he spoke while trying to once again compose myself.
I However couldnt hide the slight shaking in my voice, I remembered back to the days before I met James, I would not have had such worry in my heart even if this were to happen to my parents rather I would stay composed yet... sigh, I guess, I have changed.
I dont even feel any sort of hatred for my new self, previously i had thought of the possibllility of becoming more emotional in future and i absolutely resented the idea of becoming even slightly emotional like i have become now due to James and it seems my past thoughts were wrong, I do not resent this new version of me, I dont even mind it.
Thoughts whirled through my mind as I struggled to Also logically make sense of the situation.
I couldn't believe that James was missing. Could he have been kidnapped?
No then Jarvis would defently know, yet now Jarvis is completely disconnected from what may be happening in the cave, so maybe something happened in the cave.
Was he in danger?
I couldnt help but wonder, however I quickly put such a thought to rest even slightly as I remembered the power of James's Armour.
I felt a sense of helplessness, and my heart raced with fear. "Can you show us the recording of the moments before you lost connection?" I asked Jarvis, hoping that I could get some answers.
A video appeared on the screen, and we watched it with bated breath.
It showed a video from James's perspective of him walking into the Dark and Hard to see cave and soon reaching a crossroad where he picks the right path and crosses into it however he seemed to have frozen for a split second for some reason the moment he completely stepped inside the cave.
By now everyone was carefully watching the video, James turned his head around all of sudden only for the video to cut.
The last scene where the camera stopped recording, I could keenly see a wall standing in the exact place he had just walked through, causing my eyes to widen as I looked at this knowing that this must have been the last moment before the recording and Jarvis's connection cut of.
I felt my jaws clench together as I felt flustered. What could have happened in those few seconds that caused the connection to fail?.
"Why did it stop?" I heard a littlè child voice, looking around the room I saw that it was Luke who said it. Everyone seemed as lost and confused, except Alex who looked completely serious.
"That is The Last moment of James before my connection to him or his suit completely cut of"
Cut Of! How did I not realize this, I know how James's suits thrusters power adjusters and such works, its through Jarvis so if Jarvis is disconnected doesnt that mean... James wont be able to use his suit at all and rather be the one stuck inside it?
"Will the suit stop functioning?!" I asked loosing my composure slightly.
"Acording to my information, I do not believe that will be a problem Miss Wednesday"
Claire who was standing beside me, her eyes fixed on the screen. Her voice was trembling as she spoke. "Is he going to be okay?"
I could tell that she was scared, and her fear only added to my own although according to Jarvis he will be fine and I am sure James must have thought of the situation where Jarvis were to disconnect from his suit and must have had a solution in place for such a situation.
I felt relief wash over me as I realized this, Now atleast he still has protection, however my thoughts came back to the Main problem, It still does change the fact that we dont know what is happening to him.
