The vampire that Kai had just strangled was burned to death by the black flames.
Kai walked towards the casket and like the vampire, paid heed to not stomp on the flowers scattered around. He could smell the fragrance of the roses, as if they were still in a garden. The smell of the corpse in the casket was practically nonexistent as Kai neared. In fact, it even smelled better than perfume.
"As I thought."
Kai had a grim expression his face as he looked at the body inside the casket. The Blood Primogenitor was a very beautiful woman with curves that could make any woman jealous. The paleness of her skin wasn't to the degree of a vampire's, it was just right. Her blonde hair glistened even in the darkness and her face was perfect without blemishes or uneven features.
Anyone looking at her would be utterly smitten whether they be male or female. Even Kai wouldn't be immune to it but seeing the Blood Primogenitor's face made his mood sink.
It was because the Blood Primogenitor... greatly resembled Amelia! No, it could even be the other way around. Amelia's body would undergo a change once she awakens all of her blood and this could very well be what she would look like once that happened.
"As I thought... she's the reincarnation- no, the clone of the Blood Primogenitor."
For both Amelia and Kai, this was bad news. That was because the Blood Primogenitor was dead but when the right conditions are met, she would be revived and one of those conditions was for someone to awaken the Blood Primogenitor's bloodline to a certain point.
That meant that if Amelia were to awaken her blood, she will be sacrificed to revive the Blood Primogenitor. Even if it wasn't forfeit of her life, the Blood Primogenitor would still attempt to take over Amelia's body.
Just as Kai was about to close the casket, he fell over and vomited blood. Just one quick scan of his body and he knew that most of his organs had failed and some even been torn apart. It wasn't because of the pressure from the Blood Primogenitor's body, it was because of him using the power of a God.
He immediately began healing himself as he lay on the side of the casket. It wasn't a normal injury, in fact, he had no confidence in healing himself in short-term.
"...How do I talk to Amelia?"
Kai muttered seemingly at a loss. He wasn't talking about the matter with the Blood Primogenitor, Kai was going to keep that a secret, what he was going to talk about was his power.
During the ritual, Kai and Amelia's memories overlapped for an instant. A fragment of Kai's entered Amelia's and vice versa. What Kai had gotten were some memories from her days as a child while Amelia had gotten the fragment of Kai's memories during his time as a God.
If Amelia had acquired the memories prior to that, Kai would be in more trouble but with this, maybe he could pass it off.
----------------------------------------
Sheep's Wool Inn
Kai walked into the inn with heavy steps and a somber mood. He had one hand on his abdomen while the other was free.
Amelia should still bedridden at this time. A God's memories were special, even just looking at it would make one feel an enormous strain on their body, let alone being forcefully bestowed.
Amelia collapsed immediately after the ritual not because of fatigue from using her powers, it was because of Kai's memories. Sure, this would benefit her if she ever reached the same level as the Blood Primogenitor but right now, it did more harm than good.
She would need a few days to process the information and during that time, her mind and body are at its weakest. If he wanted to fool the normally sharp-witted Amelia, he had to do so now but it was going to be difficult.
For one thing, Erina won't leave them alone even if Kai asks her to, at least not with Amelia in that state and accompanying Erina is her magic eye which can differentiate truth from lies. It was how she had no doubt that the Blood Primogenitor was in the castle.
And even without Erina, if he managed to fool Amelia and she were to rethink of this event once her mind clears, then it'd be even more dangerous.
"Amelia, Erina, I'm coming in."
After knocking thrice, Kai entered the room. He waited for a few seconds but after hearing no answer, he just decided to walk in, it was his room too after all.
There, Erina was asleep on the side of Amelia's bed while the latter was in deep sleep.
For just an instant, Amelia's figure overlapped with the Blood Primogenitor, forcing Kai to stop in his tracks. And during that time, Erina woke up and looked at Kai while in a daze.
"Kai, you're safe..."
Erina smiled and sat up. She had no energy to get off the chair and there was an extra seat right next to the other side of the bed.
Seeing his smile, Kai felt guilty. He was about to fool the two of them.
"Amelia, I need to talk to you."
Kai sat down on the other chair and whispered in Amelia's ear.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
He didn't teleport back at the inn directly, instead, he teleported outside the town and walked all the way back. He had to think of a way to fool both Erina and Amelia. He had already made several plans but now, it all depends on what fragment Amelia had gotten.
If she finds out that Kai is from the future, then she'll find out the truth about the two of them eventually. That was why Kai couldn't allow it.
Amelia's eyes slowly opened. Her eyes made it evident that she was very tired but upon seeing Kai, her eyes brightened, even if it was just for a bit.
"Dear..."
Seeing Amelia in that state made Kai feel like fangs were gnawing at his heart and he had to fool her on top of that.
"Amelia, what did you see in the fragment?"
"You... as a God..."
Erina's eyes opened wide upon hearing Amelia. Her drowsiness dispersed instantly, it should be known that they've only personally met one, Kai's grandmother, the Goddess of Frost.
Although Erina had a mountain of questions to ask, she lsitened to their conversation intently while using her magic eye to its limits.
An eye that can see the truth, how would Kai pull the wool over Erina's eye?
"What you took was a fragment of my memory, but even though it's my memory, it isn't mine."
The memory isn't mine, that's because it's from the future me and not the current me.
"The will of that God you saw has been given to me, but that God does not exist."
The God does not exist because I've never been a God in this time.
"You will need to digest the information for a few days. It will strengthen your mind and soul power greatly but during that time, you'll be extremely weak and feeble."
Erina furrowed her brows.
"Kai, if the God didn't exist then how did his will become passed on to you?"
-Yes, this was the question Kai had been waiting for. She had definitely suspected something but Kai had long since been prepared to answer it.
"A bestowal from another God. That God forcefully made a faux God not bound by the same rules as the others, it was free but couldn't be considered a God. The God only had that power for a short while and through means provided by an organization protecting the world for years, transferred his will to mine. It may be a faux God, but it's still a power on the level of a true God."
I only had the power for a short while because I failed my mission and had to be sent back here by the Guardians. I was a God but I didn't bow down to the creator of Gods, that was why I was a faux, an imitation.
"But... why would they bestow it to you?"
"Fate, destiny, whatever you call it. It's still about that damn prophecy."
It was his destiny to once more reclaim his power and to do that, he needed to have a fragment. The prophecy foretold that a human would rise up, rule the world, then launch an offensive on the stalemate created by the Supreme Beings and their realm but that was it. It didn't mean that the human would succeed in doing so.
A half-truth isn't a lie, but that didn't mean it was right.
"..."
Erina fell silent. She had known about the prophecy since she was a child. It didn't give names but the meaning and people involved were clear.
The prophecy foretold of a boy marrying a noble, overturning the rule of the divines and ruling the world, then the boy turns his fangs towards the Supreme Beings under the guidance of the Supreme Being of Reincarnation. It wasn't the exact oracle given as Kai and Erina weren't told but that was the gist of it.
But there was a problem with the prophecy. It foretold that Kai would marry a noble but it didn't say that he would marry two people. Ever since Kai met Amelia, this had been on his mind.
A noble, that could apply to both Erina and Amelia. That meant that he doesn't end up marrying one of them, and that meant there was a possibility that the worst case scenario would happen, one of them would die. After Kai saw the Blood Primogenitor, he knew what was going to happen.
Kai clenched his fist while using the other hand to softly stroke Amelia's face.
"Go ahead and rest."
"...Nn."
Amelia quickly fell back to sleep. It appears that she had been forcing herself awake for Kai this entire time.
For now, Kai had succeeded in fooling the both of them. He set up a barrier around Amelia's room and walked out. The inn basically belonged to them already so he took Erina to the neighboring room for her to rest as well.
"I can still keep watch."
Erina protested but the visible bags under her eyes made it evident that she hadn't rested in quite awhile. Although their bodies were tougher than regular humans, in the end they were still humans- at least, Erina and the others were.
"No, you need to rest."
Kai sat her down on the bed and sat on the chair in front of her. He had various thoughts swirling around his head as he stared into Erina's eyes.
"W-what is it?"
Being stared at for awhile made the bashful Erina turn her gaze away with a flush on her face.
Kai took hold of the side of her head and made her look at him before leaning close to land a light peck on her lips.
"Sorry, you were just too cute I couldn't bear it anymore."
She was used to his occasional random kisses from time to time but hearing his comments were the clincher.
"...Then, do you want to do it?"
Immediately after her words, Kai pushed her down on the bed and began kissing her. At first, it was only on the lips, but he gradually went downwards to her neck and even gave light pecks between her chest.
Erina was frozen stiff but had no hint of reluctance on her face, instead she was welcoming Kai with open arms but just as he was about to reach into her clothes, he stopped himself.
"W-what's wrong?"
Kai sat her up and gave her another peck on the lips before smiling.
"We'll continue some other day, you're tired."
"No, I can still..."
A wave of drowsiness hit Erina.
"I told you..."
Kai shook his head with a wry smile and set her down on the bed properly. Then, he gave a kiss on her forehead and allowed her to sleep.
Although she was using healing potions, she still had to fight an S-class vampire. Her stamina hadn't returned at all.
Leaving Amelia and Erina in their rooms, Kai headed for the cellar.
"So you're still alive..."
Kai muttered as he looked at the tied up vampire.
"What?! You!"
The vampire's eyes opened wide and the disbelief in his eyes was visible for all to see.
"How did you survive against the Queen?!"
"Queen? That's an insult. She's just a tainted vampire."
Kai slapped the vampire on the side of the head.
"We're going to be having some fun."
Accompanied by killing intent, and Soul Aura, the vampire felt that Kai's smile was that of a Death God's. Kai erected a barrier to prevent sound from leaking and quickly began to work.
He used many forms of torture, one that vampires that were used to pain hadn't felt before.
At first, the vampire kept his screams but before an hour had passed, he was screaming curses at the top of his lungs. Three hours had passed and instead of curses, he was screaming for help and mercy. Five hours had passed as his screams turned hoarse.
The night passed and the vampire had lost all will to live. Once Kai set him free, he immediately ended his own life.
"Kai, why didn't you seal my senses?"
Reo had asked him out of the blue.
"...I suppose that's because other than those two, I'm fine with anyone knowing I'm from the future."
"..."
As of now, Reo who had the best understanding of Kai felt that he was incomprehensible but he felt that compared to the pressure placed on anyone else's, the pressure on Kai's back was heavier than a mountain, it was as heavy as the world itself.
