The day after the impromptu date, M.A.L.A. had a breakthrough in translating the god’s language and from there it was easy to decipher everything about the summoning circle and the options that had to be filled in. That also made it easier to study it and make modifications, even create a new spell based on its design. Instead of summoning something at random, it would transport her in a random, hospitable dimension on a planet with life on it. For the rest of the day she lost a lot of drones while experimenting with her modifications of the circle before she was able to receive a picture from one of them. It was active for a second and send the image of a star, before she assumed it was destroyed. It may need a few more days of modifications and testing before she would perfect the circle, but that could be left to M.A.L.A. now that they had partial success and only had to do small and menial modifications. Soon she would be able to travel to dimensions not from the imagination of humans, but alien worlds no one on earth knew about.
Later in the evening, Penny fabricated thousands of receivers/transmitters and continued to fabricate more while enchanting the ones she had with two way signal teleportation and just in case it didn’t work only on the signal, she put the one that would stay with her and connect to her computer in a hermetically sealed box. When the first batch was ready, she put them in her pocket dimension then used her smart watch to change into her spacesuit. She had control over every TV station in the world, now it was time to receive access to every TV satellite and maybe some spy and military ones if she had the time. She got into the life pod, activated its cloaking and flew to geosynchronous orbit where most of the satellites were located, then without getting out and only stretching her arm outside of the safety field, she started installing the devices to monitor and take control of the satellites. At first she relied on public maps of the satellites in orbit, but after the first few she connected to she tasked her AIs to infiltrate the agencies responsible for keeping track and the ones responsible for launching the spy ones and then mark all the ones she needed on her map. Once she had instructions where to go, her work pace increased and soon all the devices she prepared were installed. Tomorrow she would do the same with the second batch and continue day after day until she had access and control of every satellite in orbit and while she was up here, she may as well do some spring cleaning of all the junk floating around. She could always use some free, recycled metal.
Penny just finished installing the last device and was ready to leave, when she stopped to take a look at the planet. She had been to space once or twice during her travels through fiction, but she never took the time to appreciate the experience or take a look at the planet, maybe because this was her first experience in near earth orbit. Now that she had the time, she took a good long look at the view before her and held her breath for a moment. The planet was beautiful when seen from space, covered with white clouds, blue oceans and lots and lots of brown. Not nearly enough green in her opinion. She could even see the spot in the ocean she had covered with mist to hide it from the eyes of the world. And that one moment renewed her motivations for the future. She would make that world a better place and maybe even conquer it in the process, she still hadn’t decided if she wanted to do that one part, but she could always change her mind and there was more than one way to conquer the world. She could start by conquering the game world with the new console and games she had coming to the market, then she could conquer the electronics world with a new company or as Valentina Santiago, then the financial world would tremble at all her financial might. Those were of course just ideas, for now she flew back to earth and got ready for bed. Everything else could wait for tomorrow.
The next day after her morning routine, Penny started making calls. During the night, she had an interesting dream and that gave her an idea for something. But to realize that idea, she had to call a bunch of people, ask permission for a bunch of things and sign cooperation agreements with some other companies. And she wanted to do all that before it was time to present the HoloCon to consumers.
-Hey team, it’s Penny. I need you to do some things for me at the same time you are getting ready for the event next month. I need you to get in contact with the guys that make the Dungeons and Dragons board games, not the manufacturers, but the ones who hold all the patents and make decisions. Call other popular board game RPG manufacturers as well to sit on the meeting, because I have a proposal for them that could make us a lot of money if we do it right. And do we have people who do research? Tell them to research where the highest concentration of LARPers in the country is. Yes, Live Action Role Players, you know, people who dress as fantasy characters and role play as them, like civil war reenactors, but the things they reenact hasn’t happened in reality, just in their game campaigns. Call me when everything is done.-
Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.
-Penny, what are you planning?-
-You see A.I.C.A. last night I had a dream I was adventuring with a party of explorers in a fantasy land. We were slaying monsters, going on quests, saving Princess Jenny and all sorts of stuff. And this morning I had a thought, the training system Valentina sold to the military could be used to simulate D&D campaigns if we tweaked a few settings. We set the DM in a room with a big holographic board where he could place monster figurines and they will appear in the room with the players. We make it so they could roll dice no different from reality, program the rules of board game RPGs in the computer, different game modules and whatnot. It will be a perfect place for LARPers to play their campaigns and make them pretty realistic. After all, if we still can’t make a full dive game, we may as well engage players in the real world. We just need to come to an agreement for the rights of the games and either we use their game and our technology, or they use our technology and their games. It will function like some kind of laser tag arcade or something. Those are still popular, right?-“And if my predictions are right, a few weeks after we announce our game consoles, Konami and other trading card games will contact us to build duel discs and other stuff for them, which we would gladly do, for the right price.”
The rest of the day was spent pretty normally, she designed a plan for the construction of the facility, if they came to an agreement, exchanged a few ideas about the functions of magic and its laws with M.A.L.A. and designed a new air supply for the space suit, which would last her indefinitely. This last one was mostly done with magic, but also with a pinch of science. She created a new pocket dimension and enchanted it to have normal earth gravity, then filled it with plants like Aloe Vera, Chinese Evergreens, Money Plant and others. She made a space inside to keep ocean plants like plankton as well, and then cast a few spells and installed a couple devices to create a functioning biosphere that could filter the emissions of a single human being, then connected the pocket dimension to her space suit. Penny was safe even with the previous air supply, being able to teleport to earth when it got low, but if she wanted to simply stay in space without wasting her time to recharge, this was a much better solution.
Later in the evening Penny again changed into her space suit, now much improved and went back to space to continue installing devices on satellites. She was going to do it until her second batch ran empty and then would go back to earth and get some sleep. If she continued at her current pace, a few more days would suffice to take control of all important satellites in space, then she would just have to wait for the announcement of the holographic technology, before pulling her big prank.
The next day, Penny was just finishing her exercises when she caught something interesting on the news. Someone, somewhere had found out about the decrease in traffic violations in the city.
-…and when our investigation led us to the car manufacturers, we were stone walled, but the drivers had something to say. According to them, as far back as two weeks ago, someone hacked into the computer systems of all cars in the city and forced them to strictly follow traffic rules. How that is possible, why it was done and by who is still unknown, but we have to ask ourselves, what if instead of order this person was aiming to create chaos, what could have been done? I am…-
-Look A.I.C.A. someone investigated the reason for the decrease in traffic violations. Do you think it was found by some police officer who had to write too few speeding tickets, or someone called them and told them his car was hacked?-
-It could have been any number of things, but the manufacturers of the cars, the computers and security firms that secure their safeties have been notified multiple times that something was not right, but they weren’t able to deal with the problem. After all, the code stays in the cars only in between traffic signs and they have no idea from where to start solving the problem.-
After turning the TV off, Penny went out and wondered around, browsing new products in stores, sampling new food and searching for some underground fighting place to visit. Turns out, her leaked schematics for fighting robots were a huge success, or so The Author wants it to be, so she decided to visit a place that had them and see what the people there were doing with her creation, what modifications they have made and how popular it actually was. And if she liked what she saw, she may even enter the competition and try to win it. For now, she shapeshifted to disguise herself, changed her clothes through her smart watch and entered the seedy establishment where the fights would take place, not knowing what to expect.
