Family Reunion

“Ah, Sahara and Terrence,” said Mr. Trawn. “I have some information for you.”

“Oh good,” said Sahara. “Anything really shocking?”

“I’ll leave that up for you to decide. First, I have news for both of you,” said Mr. Trawn, smiling. “You’re twins.” Sahara looked at Terrace as he looked at her.

“That’s impossible,” said Terrance.

“It’s not, actually. Your father died three months before you two were born. After your birth, your mother found it too hard to care for you both, so she took you to the adoption center. But since it was already full, they took Sahara because her appearance gave her a greater chance of getting adopted. But soon after she gave up Sahara, she met a rich normal human who decided to take her in. But she was still weak, and died shortly after their marriage,” said Mr. Trawn.

“So my abusive father wasn’t really my father after all?” asked Terrance. “No wonder he beat me.”

“He beat you?” asked Sahara.

“Yeah, that’s how I learned to stay invisible for so long. I prefer to be invisible, actually. My father could never find me when he wanted to hit me, so he sent me off to get tested by a psychologist for problems. The psychologist recognized that I was special right away and sent me here,” said Terrance. “But now I know I’m not related directly to such a jerk.”

“There’s more,” said Mr. Trawn. “Your mother had invisibility. And your father could see invisibility, which is probably why Terrance has those powers. And possibly the reason he married her.” Sahara smiled.

“Thanks so much!” she told Mr. Trawn. “But did you find anything about my sisters?”

“You don't have sisters Sahara,” said Mr. Trawn gently. “Terrence, Phila, and Ella are the only siblings you have, and only Terrence is really related to you.”

“Oh, ok,” said Sahara. “I meant my adopted sisters.”

“I will try and see what I can do. But now I think both of you will be wanting to head on to class,” said Mr. Trawn.

“Thank you,” said Sahara and Terrence at the same time and headed out the classroom.

Phila saw them come back and whispered to Garnet. “Don’t they look cute together?”

Sahara overheard as she sat down. “Phila, meet my biological brother and twin, Terrence,” she said with a grin.

“Woah! We have a brother!” Ella exclaimed. “I’ve always wanted a brother!”

“That’s great sweetie!” said Haze, patting Ella on the back.

“I have a brother,” said Sahara. “He’s my biological twin, and we got separated at birth.”

“But he’s practically an adopted brother anyway. Close enough!” said Ella.

“You guys seem cool enough. It rocks to have actual siblings,” said Terrence shyly.

Sahara smiled. “Yeah, we have a lot of catching up to do... brother.”

Phila grinned. “Can I call you bro?”

Sahara and Terrence both spoke at once. “No!”
