The chirping of birds welcomed a new day in Riana's life. She woke up stretching her arms. Agatha and Alcaz were sleeping soundly together. Riana smiled seeing them asleep. She looked at the rays piercing through the spaces between the trees which looked beautiful. It was such a beautiful sight that she lay down again to look at the beauty of nature for a few more minutes.

It was then that she realized something. Agatha had asked last night that she would keep a lookout for them. And everyone had agreed as she had not done much stern work so she would keep on the lookout for the first half of the night and then exchange it with Riana. But she just woke up...... So who kept the lookout?

"Hey, Krish. We're you the one on the lookout? " She asked standing up. There was no response from him. He was lying down with a blanket over him. Riana called for him two more times but there was no response.

She ran to where he was lying down and pulled the blanket just to be shocked. There was a log under the blanket. Her worst nightmare had come true. He had run off while they were sleeping.

"What happened Riana? " Agatha who was awake by now asked her.

"It's ok. Maybe he didn't like our company. " Agatha said with a sad look. Riana didn't say anything in response.

"We should also move. We have a long journey ahead. And we also have to hunt something today. " Riana said as she started packing her stuff.

Alcaz was also awake and was yawning in the corner. Agatha asked hid to pack their stuff and after a few minutes, they were on their way.

Riana checked her compass and map and navigated the forest for about an hour. Suddenly Alcaz started fidgeting.

"What happened Alcaz? " Agatha asked him.

"I need to......pee. " Alcaz said embarrassed.

"There is no need to be embarrassed. Go quickly but don't go far. " Agatha said with a smile. He ran off behind a tree and started his business. Riana and her mother were waiting for him when they heard his shout.

They both ran to see if there was something that put him in danger. But to their surprise, they found something else. Alcaz was standing beside a man who looked injured.

Just from looking at the clothes, Riana could tell who he was. She went close to the body and checked his condition. He fainted and his left leg was broken. He was in no condition of walking. Riana knew that this type of injury in the forest meant death. He would not be able to fetch food and water for himself and then slowly he would die. It would be another story if he was with a group... Or with them. But he would only make their journey harder, so it was best to...

Riana took out a small dagger from her waist and attacked Krish.
