ch 1- Resurgence

A village situated in the heart of the forest surrounded by dense trees. If someone was to look from the sky it would look like a brown patch in the middle of greenery. The village was not big by any means, a total of 50 people lived there. All regular people.

After the world changed it was a rare sight that there were people left that were normal. They were not hated but pitied by the now new regular people. One had to be strong to live in this world. Everything had evolved from animals to plants. Even the crops had mutated. New species had started their life on land and water. Earth was not the same as it once was.

The "Great World", a famous historian once suggested this world would be called in the future. And since it had stuck with everyone. The size of the earth had increased by two times to fit the new children it had conceived.

15 years. After that, the strongest in this world will have the final say. Many wanted the earth to remain as it is. But some thought otherwise.

But there were still some people that thought it was better to let fate take its course. The neutral ones. And the aforementioned village is one of them.

Krish was sitting on his guard duty outside the village's main entrance. A man in his early twenties with long black hair, sharp eyes, and a solemn attitude. He had no weapon on him as there rarely anyone came to the village. Animals and humans were alike. He was the only guy capable of fighting.....Fighting average people like him that is. Even though the village was mostly safe he took it upon himself to guard the village. He exercised every day, the sole reason for his lean and sturdy build.

He was just a kid when the world started evolving when God came down to give the good news. 13 Years had passed since that day and he had grown into an adult.

Kids and elderly alike were giving him greetings as they met him on his way home. For the kids, he was a man who they looked up to and for the elderly, he was a son who was risking his life for the village.

Krish nodded to the greetings as he kept his stoic face. He reached his home as he stopped and looked at the door of the house. He clenched his fist as he turned around and walked away.

A few minutes later he came back with some Candies in his hand. The voice of a young child was coming from inside. He put his ears on the door as he eavesdropped on the kid inside.

"When will daddy come home?...... " A cute voice full of sorrow could be heard.

Krish furrowed his eyebrows for a second but just a moment later he was back to his normal grim expression. He opened the door and stepped inside his home.

It was a small cottage where Krish lived. There were no multiple rooms or a corridor. A simple cottage. There was a fireplace in the middle and a primitive-type kitchen on the left. On the right were some toys and a small but comfy-looking mattress made out of rags. Behind the fire was also a mattress but it was as thin as a sheet.

A kid jumped out of the mattress and ran towards Krish. She ran with her arms open and glee of happiness.

"Daddy's home! " She shouted while running waiting for Krish to lift her off. But was denied by the cold-hearted man.

"Don't call me that. Here, someone gave these to you. " Krish gave her the candy in her little hands which were still up for a hug. But a child was still a child, as soon as she saw the candies her eyes sparkled.

"Today too! I really want to meet and thank the person who gives me these candies every day. " The child said as she started eating the candies.
