Strategic Advantage:

The Medical Tent is an essential structure for both military and settlement strategies. It boosts healing speed and improves the overall efficiency of medical and alchemical treatments, ensuring your forces are healthy and ready to return to battle quickly. The modular design allows it to be deployed rapidly and transported efficiently.

Darius then checked the War chest supplies and found that he had more than enough general supplies. He had hundreds of units of canvas, wood, rope, and just about everything needed to make the tent. It didn’t even have a build point cost, so he wasn’t sure they could even use the Settlement’s manifestation ability on the Medical Tent, anyway. It looked like it would take crafters co make each of the panels, and then it should be fairly simple to just put it all together. While Darius thought it should be simple, he’d watched plenty of would-be campers struggle to put up even the most simple of tents at the campground. For a free beer, He’d often found himself bribed to help struggling fathers fix the mess they’d created.

Now, who do we have that can actually do all that crafting? Instead of trying to figure it all out himself, he went straight to the man who would most likely know. Darius went to his manor, checked in all the rooms, and didn’t find his uncle, then he checked the Village Hall, but had no luck there. Confused and mildly concerned, Darius wandered around the Village until he saw the doorways that led to the portable workshops. He walked over, looking into each one until he found the one with his uncle’s workshop. When he entered, he saw Marcus working with some machine that seemed to be pooping out of a pipe.

“Yo, what’s that?” Darius asked.

Marcus jumped in place and whirled around. “Don’t scare me like that, son. Don’t you know I’m getting too old for that shit? You damn near gave me a heart attack.”

“Woah, ease up there, old timer. I just wanted to know why that thing is shitting mud.”

Marcus rubbed his chest for a moment before replying. “That aint mud. It’s clay. This here is a Pug-mill. See this hopper?” Marcus pointed at a conical shaft at the top of the machine. “you toss in the clay, sand and other shit. It churns it in here and spits out the refined clay here. I can then use that to make whatever I damn well please.”

“Damn, sorry for asking.”

“No, sorry for biting your head off. But you know I hate being startled. Now, what brought you into my shop?”

“Oh, right? I need someone that’s able to make this,” Darius answered, then he shared the blueprint with his uncle. “We need someone to make the panels for the Healing tent.”

“Hmm,” Marcus hummed as he rubbed his stubble covered jaw. It made a soft, rasping sound as he thought. “I know we don’t have anyone with the System listed skills for Weaving or Tailoring, but I’m pretty sure we have a few people with the old-world skills. Do we have the materials for this? I imagine they list weaving for the cloth requirements.”

“Yeah, we have everything needed to build it. Hundreds of bolts of canvas, wooden boards, rope all that shit.”

“Well, you might try that Anna girl, Elena maybe…”

“Can’t you find someone who can do it? You’re so much better with all that stuff than I am,” Darius pleaded.

“Damn it, can't you see I’m trying to do my own work? You know we need more building materials. I’m trying to figure out the right ingredients and proportions to make those Adobe Bricks, plus I need to make all the damned bowls, cups, and plates needed for that Tavern you built.”

Marcus took a breath and looked like he was about to continue listing things he needed to get done, but Darius knew better than to let his uncle get a full head of steam, so he interrupted. “Look, I know I’ve been leaning on you a lot. But what can I do? You seem to know everything about everyone. I mean, I’m doing my best, I’m really trying. But…” Darius let out a sigh in defeat. “I don’t know.”

Marcus seemed to take pity on his nephew. “Look, I get it. What you really need is a full-time assistant, someone with both the social skills to interact with everyone easily, and the clerical skills to keep notes and information organized.”

“Who do you know that can do all of that, besides yourself?” Darius asked. He felt a surge of hope at his uncle's suggestion. He wouldn’t have done so if he didn’t already have someone in mind.

“Father Johnson,” Marcus answered. “He ran that little church by himself. He seems to get along with everyone. We know he supports you, and since he didn’t have any help, he had to keep all the records himself. Plus, I don’t think he’s really doing much of anything right now. He could use a task to keep him busy.”

“Thanks, uncle, you’re the best.”

“Don’t I know it? Now get your ass out of here so I can get back to work. I think I have this mix just about figured out.”

Marcus’s words might have been sharp, but Darius caught that twinkle in his eye and a slight quirk at the corner of his mouth. His uncle was happy and just fucking with him. With a laugh, Darius left the workshop and set about finding the preacher that had stood up for him the previous day.
