Having finished the wing add-on for his Power Armor, Darius looked over his custom Eidolon spells. he was up to four Eidolons, his War Gauntlets, the Atlatl and Darts, the thirty-caliber hunting rifle he'd yet to use, and his booster pack. he wasn't sure how, but he knew that with only fifteen in his intelligence, he only had room for one more Eidolon before he either had to forget one of them, or increase his intelligence. He was sure the Atlatl was next to useless at that point, so not wanting to run out of room, he focused on that spell and willed it to be forgotten. He didn't really forget the spell, but it was removed from his spell list. with two slots remaining, he felt better about working on his long ranged offensive options for when he was flying. He needed something that would mount to his power armor, like the wings, and that would keep his hands free. The rifle was fine for ground fighting.
Before starting on his weapon, Darius noticed his notification icon blinking and clicked it.

"Four skill ups, not bad. Eight experience points is just a drop in the bucket, but everything counts. Still, I need another five hundred seventy experience points to get to level ten and gain my Advanced Class. Well, now that those are cleared, let’s see if I can raise them again with my next Eidolon creation. now what do I want? I could go for another gun, throw some more lead down range, or I could go for a missile launcher, or maybe even one of those sci-fi blaster weapons. what do I really need right now?" Darius pondered for a few minutes. Before the zombies had arrived, he would have gone with the physical projectile option, but when fighting the undead, he didn't think bullets would be all that effective. They didn't have crazy armor, so a lot of armor penetration wasn't all that necessary. The blasters would probably work, but he was pretty sure they were shorter in range. A nice explosive missile might do the trick, but the rate of fire would be abysmal. No matter how he thought about it, no option was perfect. He could make two weapons, but he would only be able to equip one at a time as long as he had his wings out.
Tilting his head one way, then the other, Darius finally came to a decision. He would make two weapons, a shorter blaster type and a longer-range missile type, so he could take out whole groups at once. Nodding in confirmation to himself, he focused on Create Eidolon again and began to concentrate on his meditation and controlling the mana flow. once again, Darius managed to maintain his focus and control for a solid forty minutes before the Mana became too slippery in his mental grip and had to cut the spell off.

With a better idea of what he wanted, and a growing familiarity with the filters and search function, Darius quickly found exactly what he was looking for. It was a shoulder mounted blaster cannon with a turret-like mount that enabled the weapon to adjust its angle to fire at anything in front of him. It could even switch its firing position to accommodate his spatial orientation. So, if he was flying with his wings out, it would orient with his plane of travel, firing on anything ahead of him. If he was in a standing position, the weapon would pivot from the back of his shoulder to the top, keeping the barrel facing in front of him.

"Let’s upgrade this bitch!" even Darius could hear the grin in his voice. He might not have been one of those gamer nerds growing up, but he was definitely beginning to enjoy this side of the apocalypse.
Moving with the surety of experience, Darius immediately upgraded the Mana cost, and cast time to their maximum allowed bonus, cutting both in half. Next, he added ten minutes to the duration. As long as he had enough points, he'd decided that those would always be the first things upgraded. Next, he increased the quality three times for one hundred fifty points, bringing it to the Exceptional rank, boosting everything by thirty percent. Then he upgraded the damage by an additional ten points, increased the range by fifty percent.
Looking over everything, he saw the new rate of fire was only one shot every three and a half seconds. Not liking how slow that was, he spent another one hundred fifty points to reduce it to half a second. To his disappointment, it looked like one second was the lowest it could go. Grumbling at the half second lost and the twenty-five points it represented, but not wanting to have it be half a second slower, he left it as it was. Looking it over again, he saw the cost to recharge the shot capacity was eight Power Points. He couldn't let that stand. It would be a massive drain on his Power Armor's power supply, so he sunk an additional one hundred twenty points to increase its energy efficiency by thirty percent, dropping the cost down to five points per shot. It was still expensive, but better than the alternative.
Darius still had one hundred and fifty points left to upgrade his new weapon. After studying his options, he saw one that made him smile. "all the damage in the world won't do shit if I can't hit nothin." he then dropped one hundred points into Increased accuracy, giving it a plus twenty percent bonus to shooting some mother fuckers out of the sky. With just fifty points remaining, Darius upgraded the Base Material, reducing the weight of the weapon and increasing the durability with titanium. If he had another hundred points, he might have increased it again to Orichalcum, if only to match the rest of his Power Armor, but he was flat broke now. Finalizing the choices, Darius looked over his shiny new doom bringer three thousand.

While Darius waited for his Power Armor's Mana to finish regenerating, he checked over his skill gains with the latest Eidolon created and wasn't disappointed. He'd gained another rank in Conjuration, two more ranks in Concentration and one more rank in Meditation. he'd expected as much, but he was surprised to see the experience bonus for ranking up skills seemed to increase after rank 10. He'd gotten six experience points instead of the usual two when his Conjuration hit rank eleven, but his other two skills still gave only two per rank. Still, twelve free Xp was always welcome. One more drop on his way to his advanced class.
Ten minutes later, he once again dove into Eidolon creation. this would be his last one until he leveled and was able to increase his Intelligence. knowing he needed to put every ounce of focus and willpower into controlling his Mana, he began…

"Mother Fucker! it's even less than last time." Darius could feel sweat running down his neck as he'd fought for every second of control he could. Even as his mental grip was slipping, he'd dumped all but five points of Mana from his own Mana Pool into the spell before cutting it off. It left him with a pounding headache, but he was sure he'd put more Mana in than when he'd made the wings, let alone the Doom Bringer. but he just saw that there was even less Mana available. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he decided to move on. While it wasn't ideal, he would work with what he had. Worst case, he would work on upgrading the new Eidolon later, when he was rested and fresh.
This time, Darius settled on an Incendiary missile launcher that had the same kind of mounting bracket as Doom Bringer. it held four missiles that would deal one hundred points of fire damage over a twenty-foot area, perfect for knocking out bunches of monsters all at once. It cost him three hundred CP for just the template, and after his standard upgrades, he only had four hundred seventy-one points remaining.
This weapon required Ammunition like his rifle did, so if he wanted to make more than four shots, he would have to take the magic effect, Reload. unfortunately, since the missiles were far more expensive than simple bullets, it would be much more expensive.
"A hundred thirty Mana? Per missile? That's highway robbery! All I want to do is to rain fire and death from above. Is that too much to ask? God damn it, at this rate, I'm gonna have to use all my upgrade points on boosting my suit's Mana again."
Darius took another deep breath and took the time to think things through. He could add the Mana Pool Upgrade to the missile launcher. It only gave one hundred mana, but if he invested eighty CP into increasing it, he would have enough to reload two missiles, giving him six shots. The pool regenerated fully in ten minutes, so he would get an additional shot every five minutes. He could also make each missile count for more by increasing the quality. "So, if I improve it to Excellent Quality, that would leave me with forty-one points left over. Hmm, looks like I can increase lock on speed by five percent for every ten points, so if I do that… one point remaining. Not much I can do with that, but I don't want to waste it… fuck it. One more point into mana pool." He made his choices and looked over his final product.

"Now that that's all finally done, I think it’s time to stretch my wings," Darius said to himself. Remembering to leave word with his uncle, so no one would get worried, he sent off a quick message to the comms tablet his uncle had claimed.
