War Quest: Warmonger 3—The Final Conquest
Quest Description:
The time has come to bring this war to its decisive conclusion. You've proven your strength on the battlefield and your skill in leading your forces through the fires of war. Now, only one task remains: finish the war and secure your victory.
Whether you choose to crush your enemies through sheer force, dominate them into submission, force their surrender, or broker a hard-won peace through diplomacy, the goal is the same—ensure that your enemies no longer pose a threat to your people or your lands.
Objectives:
* Finish the War: Achieve victory through one of the following methods:
* Eradication: Wipe out all enemy forces and settlements.
* Domination: Capture and hold all key enemy strategic positions.
* Surrender: Force the enemy to surrender by overwhelming their military capacity.
* Diplomacy: Negotiate a peace treaty or ceasefire that ends the conflict on your terms.
* Accumulate War Points: Earn War Points by:
* Eliminating or capturing enemy units.
* Seizing or destroying enemy strategic resources.
* Capturing or defending key strategic positions.
* Obtaining Allies to aid you in defeating your enemy.
War Progress Tracker:
* Monitor your progress through the war tracker, which will display your War Points and your progress towards your chosen method of victory.
Rewards Upon Completion:
* New Territory: Expand your domain by claiming the territory of the defeated enemy.
* Loyalty and Morale Bonuses: Gain a significant boost to Loyalty and Morale within your settlement, solidifying your rule and inspiring your people.
* Credits: Receive a substantial amount of Credits to bolster your resources.
* Free Building or Building Upgrade: As a final reward, you will be granted the choice of constructing a new building or upgrading an existing one without cost.
Quest Completion Trigger:
* The quest will be marked as complete once the war has ended through one of the victory methods. Claim your rewards and solidify your position as the ultimate Warmonger.
Quest Failure Condition:
* Failure to achieve any form of victory within the given timeframe (if applicable) or allowing your settlement to fall to enemy forces.
Quest Tip: Choose your method of victory wisely. The way you end the war will have lasting effects on your settlement’s future and the way other factions view your power.
After reading through the quest, Darius noted one of the methods of getting more war points was to form an alliance with another group. If they only have one more war task to complete, maybe allying themselves with us would let them complete it. Then I could kill two birds with one stone, get more war points and make them like us more. They have a lot of people, and if they brought out this many for the ambush, they probably have more people back in their Settlement. Maybe we could become trading partners or something. Hey, I’m getting good at all of this grownup thinking. With a nod to himself, Darius turned back to address the headwoman.
“Yes, I have the Warmonger three quest. It’s the last quest in the chain and it gives me an idea on how I might be able to help you complete yours while completing one of the parts of my quest.”
“Oh? What is that?” she asked.
Instead of replying directly, Darius shared his Quest prompt with her.
Emily took a couple minutes to read over the quest and ponder before speaking. “I think I see what you’re talking about. obtaining allies, right?”
“Yes, I know it doesn’t specifically mention diplomacy as a war task in the second quest, but it did say the listed tasks were examples. I think that if your Settlement and mine ally with each other, at least in regard to a joint war effort, it would complete one of your tasks. It would also make eliminating these undead for good easier. While we may have people with higher levels than you, you seem to have more people than us-“
“You only have more levels because you stole our experience points!” Keven snapped.
“Kevin!” Emily snapped. “Knock that shit off. If you can’t behave like a fucking grown ass man, I’ll send you home like a damn child.”
Darius was caught off guard by the woman’s sudden change of temperament. She radiated irritation, and it was all directed at Kevin.
“You know that fight would have pushed most, if not all, of our people over the line and get them their Advanced Class. They stole that opportunity from us. Now you are talking about making friends with them? They're fucking Kill thieves. We can’t trust them.”
“Kevin, I swear to God, if you don’t shut up right now, I’m going to tell Jasmine how you’re acting!”
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
“You wouldn’t.”
“Wouldn’t I? Try pushing me and find out.”
The two stared each other down for what felt like hours, even with Kevin’s face covered by his Power Armor’s faceplate. Eventually, Kevin got up in a huff and stomped off back to their group of waiting people.
“I’m so sorry about that. Normally he isn’t so hard to deal with, but he was a very active gamer before the world ended and he has a few odd views he holds to strongly.”
“It’s fine. But if I may ask… who’s Jasmine?” Darius asked.
A spontaneous laugh erupted from Emily. Once she was able to calm it down, she answered. “Sorry, sorry. Jasmine is his wife. She’s currently pregnant and rules their house with an iron fist. I’m probably going to pay for that threat later. It’s like using the nuclear option to get through to him when he gets really difficult. And it’s not without cost. Anyway, let’s get down to it. What would an alliance between our settlements look like?”
After they settled into negotiations, Darius once again wished his uncle was there. He didn’t know if he was getting a good deal or getting shafted, but he did the best he could for himself and Zuri. In the end, they agreed to each contribute forces in missions, they would share any information on their enemy and trade necessary supplies when needed. It wasn’t a detailed agreement. Neither Darius nor Emily were military generals or anything like that, but they were both doing what they could for their own people. Emily also knew what actually happened when people spent too much time in the fog, and why going in to eliminate the Necropolis at its core would be so difficult.
Sean was one of our scouts that decided to go inside the fog. This was before we got one of those scouting drones. He’s still not doing well. Even our faith healers can't seem to do anything about it. The Fog is full of Death essence and it tainted just his Mana at first, but that taint is slowly spreading. We've been able to slow its progress, but not eliminate it entirely. We think anyone who goes in there will have the same problem. It’s a zone of death, and it looks like it converts anyone who is inside for too long into some kind of death creature.”
“Have you tried any alchemical solutions if magic and faith haven’t had a lasting effect?” Avery asked, speaking up at the table for the first time.
“We have, but the basic healing and cure potions we have access to haven’t been able to clear out the problem,” Emily answered.
“Would it be possible for me and one other to examine him? One of our people has Alchemy at the apprentice Tier and we have a variety of alchemical supplies. We might be able, with some experimentation, to figure out something that can help.”
“Chad?” Darius asked.
“Yeah, that’s who I was thinking about. Between his bloodline and his alchemy experiments, he might be able to help.”
“I can ask. He is lucid most of the time, but the change is extremely painful. We’ve had to keep him dosed with pain relieving medication and potions to help manage it.” Emily hesitated for a moment before continuing. “Look, I wasn’t going to mention this yet, but we do have a teleporter. If you share your Settlement’s location with us, and if Sean agrees, we can portal him over to you to be examined.”
Darius nodded. “If you share your settlement’s location with us in turn, I can agree to that.”
With everyone’s agreement, Darius had Pax share their map information to Tony’s AI, and he sent theirs in return. They shared some small talk; include what resources they might have that could be traded. They also shared comm information, even though neither had enough range to communicate directly with each other. Darius thought he might have a solution to that. With the Communication tower blueprint in the War Store, he might be able to expand their ability to communicate by a significant degree, but that could wait until they were finished and had gone home.
Once everything was settled as much as they were able, a new window appeared before both Darius and Emily.

Do you, Headman Darius Williams, agree to this Accord?
Y/N
After Darius selected yes, and Emily did the same, a gold bordered prompt filled both of their visions and, unknown to them at the time, every member of their respective Settlements.
