As Lyn was heading toward the mountain, in hopes of taking refuge. FeelingAwesome123 was feeling extremely indignant about his situation. More importantly, he blamed all of it on Lyn.
"If only that bastard didn't provoke that dragon, I wouldn't be in such a miserable state..." FeelingAwesome123 was lying beside a tree that was scorched and burned to charcoal. He currently can't stand up and run away because of his grave injuries. In Arnis, they realistically implemented real-life injuries and their corresponding consequences as well, hence why he couldn't move instead of just a reduced HP.
FeelingAwesome123 looked up at the sky and stared at the dragon mindlessly attacking everywhere and anywhere it seemed fit.
The more he stared at the dragon, the more irritated he became at Lyn. He was just grateful that he was lucky to still be alive after all he had experienced today. You could say today was the most intense day he had ever experienced.
"Inventory" He called out to his inventory and checked if he had any healing items he could use to heal himself.
He checked his inventory and concluded that he had none that he could use to heal himself. In fact, it could be said that you were overestimating him as he truly had no items left except for his weapon. No food and money. Truly a pitiful guy he was.
"...On second thought, I guess dying isn't so bad after all. I'm broke anyways."
Thus, he decided to just wait for his death to naturally come as the bleeding takes effect due to his grave injuries.
...
Melburn Town.
Tik!
The sound of someone kicking a rock on the roadside could be heard.
It was Winter Snow.
She was lost in thought. She couldn't find Lyn in this town, not even a trace of his hair. She was currently listless and was now just kicking a rock as she continued to walk. In other words, she's bored to death.
"Haa, is there something fun to do?" Winter Snow muttered to herself.
As she continued to walk without any destination in mind. An interesting ruckus was happening at the public bulletin board in the middle of Melburn town.
"What's the ruckus all about?"
"They said something interesting was posted on the bulletin board."
"Quiet down people!! We have something to announce!!"
The people quietened down and waited for the announcer to speak.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
The announcer cleared his throat and said:
"Ahem. To all people in this square, a dragon that is estimated to be 150 feet tall has been spotted at the Abandoned Mining Site. The Adventurer's Guild has issued an urgent quest to all adventurers in the area to subjugate the dragon.
"I repeat, to all people in this square, a dragon that is estimated to be 150 feet tall has been spotted at the Abandoned Mining Site. The Adventurer's guild has issued an urgent quest to all adventurers in the area to subjugate the dragon and to warn civilians not to approach the area."
The people that gathered to hear the news were shocked by what they heard, "A dragon? What's a dragon doing here?" A lot of them had a lot of questions to be asked, but because they didn't know who to ask, they discussed it within themselves instead.
Winter Snow happened to be nearby and heard the news as well, thus it piqued her interest. "Woah, a dragon, I've always wanted to see one up close." Her eyes lit up in excitement.
She checked the name of the area, summoned her system panel, and searched for its location. After confirming its location, she then headed straight to the location of the Abandoned Mining Site.
...
Pant* Pant*
"I finally made it. It was tough, but I finally made it and also found a hiding spot where I could hide." Lyn said as he wiped off the sweat on his face.
He was hiding in a cave that was quite hard to find at first glance as it was covered with natural coverage. The only thing that can be sure is that he was lucky to find this cave to begin with. He thanked his luck once again.
...Now that I have a breather, let's check the system panel I got earlier at such ungodly timing.
"System Quest"
[Sudden Quest!]
Quest: Escape from the Dragon!
Description: If you manage to survive and escape the collapsed mining site and also hide away from the eyes of the dragon; you will be given an immense reward!!!
Reward: ???
Penalty for failure: Death and Negative reputation.
He looked at the quest description and made a grim expression.
Because he was too focused earlier on running away and didn't have time to read the description, he didn't notice that there wasn't a notice where it implied when it would be finished. Now that he took a closer look, he realized that this was such a scam...
I'm finished, aren't I?
He looked up at the sky and made a "( ̄︶ ̄)" expression on his face.
"Yup, it's decided. I'll just wait here until it's finished."
And that's how our main protagonist ended up hiding there for the rest of the next chapters.
...
Rustle... Rustle...
"Huu, I'm finally here!"
Winter Snow arrived at the Abandoned Mining Site which was now known as the Collapsed Mining Site.
She looked around the surroundings and saw the aftermath of what happened earlier.
The place was a mess, due to the dragon attacking everywhere and anywhere it deemed fit. So if it were to be described, it can only be said that it looked like someone put bombs everywhere and exploded them, and not just a few bombs but multiple tons of bombs.
"This place sure is a wreck huh?" Winter Snow smiled wryly.
"But I don't seem to find the dragon anywhere here. Did it already leave?"
Just as she was about to be disappointed, an explosion happened somewhere nearby, just west of her.
Boom!
"That scared me." Winter Snow was startled and looked in the direction where she heard the explosion. “Oh, so that's where it is.”
She could see the smoke arising from the explosion of something.
She then rushed off to the scene, all excited.
"Dragon, here I come!"
