Hector finds himself to have awakened inside of a green lit room. His body arose from slumping on a giant steel table. The man sees his hands on the steel furniture
surrounded with silver cuffs displaying a small bright red light in the middle. He looked below to the ground only to see shackles around his feet sitting on a metal
chair.
“Hope you slept, good.” Steve said, sitting across while having his hat on the table. “Could have been a good sport and come out admitting your actions. Instead,
try to do a fast one on my group.”.
Hector grinds his teeth arguing. “Bastards cops like you show up whenever you feel like it!”.
Steve crosses his arms looking at the suspect with disapproval saying. “We showed up after seeing a scandal with one of the employees of Eden supposedly taking a lethal weapon and flash nade to rob a store.”
Hector 's eyes display nothing short of pure anger. “That's because of your goddamn bots he is dead!”.
“Your rights are to be silent.” Steve commands as he stands up and walks around the table. The detective stands on the left side of Hector. “I’m going to give you the option to be as honest with me. Unless you intended an extended stay.” Hector is silent. His lens stared at the right cuff. Lifting up his right wrist revealing his port connection.
“The fuck you doing to me?” The cuffed-up man shouted.
“Cuffs can automatically detect and disconnect signals for augmentation connections. Taking you off the web. Seems like you’re a right-hand user.”.
“Don’t get near me!” Hector shouts as he tries to shake but the weight of the steel cuffs is overbearing with his body.
“Tried to give you the option to follow others.” Steve flips open his left wrist once again revealing the extended wire cable. “But I guess the recordings will do.” He holds down the cuffs with a strong grip and enters the cable into the port slot.
Steve and Hector stand across rows of binary. The detective, with the flick of his left wrist, opens the interface and looks at the date, Wednesday, February, fourteen,
twenty-one fourteen. He clicks on the thumbnail and is suddenly transported into a small but somehow neatly organized apartment kitchen. Steve looks at the front
door.
“This location lines up to where me and the GBOP agents were recently at. The door structure for sure when you try to fire at me.”
Hector silently looks the other way towards his virtual back glass door window. “It's early morning.” He says in an oddly calm voice. “This is where I would be making the call.”
Steve and Hector suddenly turn to the right-side section of the apartment. A virtualization of Hector moves from out of his bed sheets but remains laying on the bed. Steve walks closer to the bedroom.
“Who is it that you're calling?” Steve askes.
Hector continues to remain emotionally mild, glaring off to the rainy outdoors. “You’ll hear soon enough.”
A ringing noise is heard throughout the simulation.
“You made a call with the other suspect.” Steve said as he then sees the shirtless virtual Hector sit up with
glowing hazel eyes.
The ringing stops. “Hello, Brian.” The virtual Hector said tiredly. “You sure still want to do this? I mean there could be other ways.”
“Not like my wife and I have a choice.” another voice echoes through the simulation.
“That's Brian’s voice.” Steve noted as he looked at Hector from across the apartment. Steve continues to listen in with the call.
“Overwhelmed with expenses. The landlord is going to attempt to kick us at this rate.” Brain admits rather with total dread. “I just don’t want to have to call on my son. The worst I could do is give him more agony than his career already does.”
“We’ll meet in the front restroom, Brian. I’ll give you what is needed.”
Steve flicks open the interface and fast forwards the memory recording. The virtual area is transformed into the inner gated entrance of the
warehouse. Steve stops the recording.
“Give me the time frame for the lunch period.” He commands towards Hector who is silently looking at the empty security room. Steve walks up from behind.
“Withholding information is going to make your case look worse than you can imagine.”
The suspect turns around. “Five twenty in the evening. At least ten minutes before lunch.”
The detective fast forwards to the specific time. Making the environment quickly shift into the security room is filled with the two virtual guards, Tim and
Hector, sitting behind their monitors. With Steve and the suspect standing behind the two.
“Going to go to the restroom, mate!” said the virtual Hector suited in Black
wolf’s dark steel security armor.
“Buy both of us drinks in return for watching the post!”.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
“Hell yeah!” Tim shouted.
Steve and Hector would proceed to follow the armored guard into the restroom. The arrival to the virtual location looked like what anyone would think of a public restroom. Minor graffiti on the stalls and dirty floors. Thankfully without the smell.
“Let's get this done, quick.” Virtual Hector says to Brian standing near the back. “Other people could be showing up fast. Best spot we got
since everywhere else, even outside, is covered with cameras.” The virtual guard then walks towards the back stall and closes the door. Steve walks towards the area
and phases through the door of the stall. Hector remains behind glaring towards the detective embarrassed. Steve witnessed the guard handing over a single pistol.
“Bring this back early in the morning, Brian and do keep your word. No killing!”.
“No worries.” Brain says with great determination as he looks into the red eyes of Virtual Hector’s dark suit helmet. “Truly kind of you to go this far. My wife doesn't know about this and if I pull this off. It’ll be the only time I can.”.
“You sure this is a logical idea.” Virtual Hector would argue. “Feels like you’ll be putting yourself in danger.”
Brian shakes his head. “No worries, I have a place in mind near my apartment. Police don't check around too many rundown places like where I live. I'll take some credits and roll onto my bank account.”
“Take this too.” the guard gives a nade.
“Oh man!” Brain was stunned by what he was handed. “Not looking to blow the store.” Virtual Hector shook in his head with total disagreement.
“It's a flash nade! Even if you use it as a tool to escape. No one won't be harmed.”.
“I see, dog.” Brian responded much more calmly.
Virtual Hector checked the time with his cyber lens. “It's two minutes until lunch time. Although Black Wolf’s sensors are associated with most of the gear of the guards. I’m going to toggle with a few security settings.”.
“When this is all over.” Brain places his arm over Virtual Hector's arm guard pad. “I’ll buy you a drink like how you bought me lunch.”.
“I'll keep that noted.” He responded.
“God damn it.” Steve overheard Hector from outside the stall. The stall door would open and both the guard and Brian phase right through the
detective.
Steve would follow right behind the two exiting the bathroom. Hector stood behind looking at the scratched-up mirror reflection. Steve made it back into the
security office with his slights on the virtual Hector.
“Hey, Tim.” The guard asked. “Throw out your card for a second so you can get a few drinks on me.”
Tim eagerly took out his small back under the security desk and flashed out a small white card.
“Thanks!” Tim shouted as he quickly walked out of the room.
In no time, Hector clicks the restart option on his system and quickly goes over to do the same with Tim’s. The camera both cut off for a brief period. He saw Brian, carrying the gear in his hoodie, between the glass windows. Giving the go ahead with big thumbs up.
Steve was disillusioned as he pulled up the interface to stop as he stared at Virtual Hector
“Just like that.” Steve commented. “Someone you're supposed to protect and yet sent him to an early grave.” The detective pushed the stop icon. Ending the
link.
The Two entered back into reality. Steve removed his cable.
“Detective!” He quickly turned to the sound of Ally’s voice. Who is still in combat uniform but holding her
helmet.
“Ms. Miller!” He responds although still mentally recovering from the link. Steve sees both James, still fully suited for combat, and Chief Ricky enter the
integration room.
“As it turns out. Hector was the one to have helped give out weapons to the suspect named, Brian.”
Ricky walks up to the left of the table. Having a full view of the chained-up suspect. James stands near the door. The chief then focuses on Steve.
“Sounds like our forensics is right on the money!” Ricky's voice sounded slightly cheered. “Right around the time you went into linking up. His full name is Brian Tyler. We got the information based on his medical information from the New Haven hospital database. Last trip there was a month ago for being checked on for high blood pressure. The other piece of evidence lines up to his bank account number on the paper you left behind on my desk.”.
“Anyway, can we get in contact with his wife?” Steve asked. “While linking up, Brian kept everything on the
down low with her. Maybe have a way of bringing her into the office.”
Suddenly, a sound of rattles emerged. “I'M SO SORRY, BRIAN!” the awakened Hector shouted.
Everyone in the one was uneased.
“Keep it quiet!” Steve opposed the man’s shriek. “Should have done your job then maybe would have said that to him yourself.”
Hector shaking his head shouting
“You saw it in the link! The man could barely afford to even have food for lunch. The way he walked up to me and asked with total
embarrassment for himself.”
Ally intervened. “Police forces raid through your shack. Found a ton of empty bottles. The fact you had a gun. You weren't trying to...”
“NO.” Hector retaliated. “The gun I had was to replace the one given to Brian.”
Steve rubbed his brown lush but slightly graying hair line. “You think that was going to work?” Detective asked with great irritation.
“You know the old saying.” Hector says with the voice of urging tears. “Sometimes, risking is half of what this game of life
is all about.”
“And you lost.” James said, standing angry near the door. “Better ways to support that man and his family. Yet, you let him talk you into giving away
armed weapons!”
Hector was nothing more but a weeping chain up vegetable.
“That's all we are going to get for now.” Chief Ricky turns his attention towards Steve
and the agents. “I'll stay here until the officers come and take him off to jail.” Steve walks down the side of the table and takes his hat.
“Guess we are good for the meetup at Metx then.” the detective says while looking back at Ricky and Ally.
“I figured you'd still be up for the investigation with that mess of a company.” The chief sighs. “Take on this case the best way possible, Okay?”
James looked relieved “Guess we’re done here!” He says while opening the doorway. “I’ll meet you at the
truck, Ally.”
Steve stares at Ally asking? “Must still be recovering his mental state after almost chewing lead from our friend, Pines, here.” Steve stares at Hector weeping silently.
“He has family back in Texas.” she outed. “It's the first time we all know of Mr. Tyler having a family connection. Must have grinded his gears to see a
man not have a proper goodbye.”
Steve nods. “At least he got one that's worth fighting for.” Steve gives a peace hand jester and wanders off. Ally follows out shortly
after.
Chief Ricky and the suspect Hector Pines are currently in the room.
Pines breaks the silence. "While looking into weapons I could get into the black market. I've
been reading up on people’s responses to the news articles. Just be glad you cops ran into someone approachable like me.”
Chief Ricky turned urgently towards Pines. “Know your rights and be silent.” Multiple guards in blue armor came approaching through the door.
