Under the tree where it all began, I put down the load on my back before taking a minute to catch my breath.
I looked at the fruit of my efforts.
two 'humans',one male, one female, they weren't perfect, but they looked human enough, and all the imperfections would be gone in a few generations anyways.
They were breathing and probably pass as living, however without a 'soul',the couldn't think, couldn't move, couldn't feel, that were essentially no different from a rock.
In a second they opened their eyes and stood up.
I felt no resistance when I used my magic on them.
Then came the moment of truth ,the one I was waiting for.
I had one of the puppets open it's mouth.
"Ahh-goa" all that came out of it was an incoherent noises.
It fine, this like the first time I learned how to move the body,ITS FINE.
I then tried to speak to get a hang of how to make the puppets do it.
But no words came out.
"…"
How do you 'talk' again.

Getting the puppets to communicate was put on hold for the time being.
…
A lot of progress happened in a few months.
Under my control the two puppets, built a small hut to live in ,as well as Farm since unlike me the puppets can actually 'die'.
I had to learn that the hard way.
Put all that pales in compensation to the most important thing.
A baby was born.
Sadly just like it's parents it didn't have a soul,so it was merely another doll.
But at least I don't have to go troll hunting again.
The new puppet which turned five years old a week ago was carrying a pile of firewood into the hut where its parents were cooking while I was having an existential crisis in the background.
This isn't working.
I did all of this so I can have someone else in this shity world.
I look at the three puppets quietly doing their own tasks.
But no matter how I look at it I can't get myself to see these things as actual people.
I tried to recall how human beings are supposed to be,but it has been a long time and my memory was getting pretty foggy.
I started banging my head against the wall splattering blood all over the place.
Wait a second.
I turned my head around.
The three of them were still doing their respective tasks like nothing happened while being covered with blood from head to toe.
I remembered a conversation I had with a co-worker about how a believable character needs a personality,motivations, and relationships.
How I could I forget something important like that.
I look back at the puppets, they were just doing whatever task that needed doing like a robot, even without speech they didn't communicate or Acknowledge each other, they didn't even have names.
I was so focused in making them look like humans on the outside that I neglected the inside.
I begin rectifying my mistakes by giving them names.
Let's see,the man's Adam,the woman's eve,and the kid's cain,Good enough,can't go wrong with the classics.
Why were they classics though.
Putting away the unimportant details I realized a crucial mistake.
how will they call each other by their names.
I should totally get to the speech thing after all.
