Quest Time! 2/3

The man nodded, a nod that said, I know that I’m absolutely helpless but someone like you might be able to save my sorry ass.

She turned and started to investigate the site. Once she had found the foot prints leading into the forest, she had gotten an icon in her view that looked like a pair of feet on a dotted trail, telling her that she’s using the skill Tracking. That’s good, that’s definitely a skill that’s worth something. Can’t find an Imp nest without it.

She followed the foot prints further and further into the forest. Her tracking skills were getting better and better by the minute. But it was actually five minutes when she got the prompt that Tracking had gotten to rank 2. But all she saw so far was forest, birds, rabbits and chipmunks. No Imps yet.

So she kept going, following the footprints around and around through the forest, probably taking the most irregular route anyone could take, the route of a wandering Imp.

But she kept her eyes up, not focusing only on the footprints in case of an ambush.

Then she felt something. A presence. It was something wandering around in the nearby trees. She crouched and took a further look. There it was, another Imp!

She checked the surroundings and made sure that there weren’t anymore Imps nearby.

She only waited for thirty seconds when she heard the other. Apparently they were tracking something, and they presumed to argue about which way to go with garbled grunts and whines.

She conjured a stone, put it in her left hand, and conjured another.

Fully loaded, she attacked.

The first rock soared through the trees and hit the first one right in the rib cage. He didn’t fall, but looked around for what the hell was happening. He didn’t have time to look before another rock hit him in the face. Now he was down for the count. 3… 2… 1…

The second Imp was quick to react and fired stones back in her direction. It didn’t phase her, she dodged the rocks and loaded up another for herself, throwing it but missing while the Imp dodged as well.

KillPrinsX quickly closed the distance, coming in to use HP Leech on the one standing.

She was a too late! The first Imp had stood up and was readying himself with a spell.

She changed her spell to Confuse, hitting them both one right after the other, and dodging another stone. She didn’t have much time to act, Confuse would wear off in just a second, but the spell feedback on the first would keep him out even longer. She took the time to use HP Leech anyways, trying to get the most damage dealt. Still it might be a longer fight than she anticipated.

She hit the standing Imp with another Confuse and more HP Leech. Boy is this going to take while. She had no knife!

Either way, she just kept going, trying to take down one before the other, only using Confuse to keep them motionless.

There had to be another spell!

That’s when it hit her, she did have another one: The Phoenix Skill Set! She quickly found the perfect spell. Fireball! It took just a second to charge, but she had them confused. The fireball hit one! He instantly vanished in a puff of smoke while the other had caught on fire! Now she had him!

She got the last Imp with HP Lech as he was dancing around with fire all over. It hardly took another second.

And now the grass was on fire! She took a few steps back, but fortunately, in this game, or this location fire didn’t spread.

She happily watched her XP tick up and coins flow into her bank.

But she wasn’t done with the quest. There was an Imp nest to find. She looked around, her Tracking skill initiating and she now found tons of Imp footprints. She must be on the right path now.

She looked around to see what there might be, any sign of a den? More Imps?

No luck, but she took caution now and started walking through the trees, looking for any mores signs.

Just around the corner, it wasn’t a sign, but another Imp. She loaded a stone into her hand and ran up, casting Confuse, and another round of HP Leech. This time she didn’t stop her spell, she just kept at it, dodging any kind of attack. Now she had it. Keep the spell going while dodging and evading. They’ve got nothing on her now! After a few seconds the enemy had succumbed and puffed into a black wisp. More XP, more gold!

Now any more? She kept walking to find another trail, then another, and another. She was definitely on the right path now.

She kept going around and through the trees, more combat, more dodging and leeching. The best part was that she was nearly invincible with her Psychic power. HP Leech was a real god send. Stone wasn’t all that great, at least not a tier 2 spell.

Now the Imps came in twos and threes. KillPrinsX was hardly phased, taking one down with a Fireball and another with HP Leech, occasionally using MP Leech to keep her Mana high. She had also found a very, extremely, useful skill for any Mage, the Mana Fortitude Buff that she had gleaned from Nap Time. She cast it, reducing MP usage by a fraction. And when it seemed a little too tough, she simply cast Fireball at their feet and distracted them all as they danced in pain.

She laughed and enjoyed herself…

Until the Chief Imp had arrived riding a boar. She nearly gagged from how ugly it looked. But! The Chief was casting spells! And more, it was lightning!

KillPrinsX hadn’t really thought this through, she was thinking about pulling a siege on their nest, instead they ambushed her!

Maybe the smartest thing she did was put up her Mana Shield. Her body glowed for a second and the energy lapsed to form a reflective sheen. Then she cast Fireball!

The Chief Imp was hit, but the boar charged on. KillPrinsX dodged a lightning bolt and followed up with another round of Mana Fortitude, and more MP Leech on the surrounding brigade of Imps. She first had to recover all that MP!

She managed that without any major hits, a few stones and a few whacks by their sword-sticks, but still just sticks.

She had finally gotten enough MP back to continue the fight. Luckily, she had successfully dodged the Chief Imp charging on his boar, and every one of those thrown lightning bolts.

Now, with MP high, it was time to dance.

She targeted the Chief Imp and cast another fireball. Flames and damage were sent all around, but the boar kept charging! Lightning kept flying!

She put everything she had into evading those lightning bolts. One hit might be the end of this battle for her, a couple seconds of stun wouldn’t do her very well with all these characters around.

She threw another fireball and had finally made a dent, the boar had toppled over, dead.

Now the Chief was really pissed, but KillPrinsX only kept on attacking, another Fireball, more HP Leech, getting closer than she’d like, but still doing damage.

Imps were coming at her from all sides. Right when she got whacked on the side by an Imp, she turned, casting Confuse and HP Leech nearly simultaneously, but that split second was all it took for her to be hit by a lightning bolt. She didn’t feel it, not really. But her Mana Shield had popped and she took the leftover damage without a debuff, thankfully.

Now she had to really focus. She stood her ground now, evading and dodging attacks until she could summon her lifesaving Mana Shield again, using HP Leech to fend them off until one or the other was left standing.

Now the face-off started. Her hands out, red bubbles flowing from the Chief Imp to her, the Chief Imp jumping around, physically attacking, throwing stones and casting more lightning bolts.

She was whacked a few more times, but had already learned her lesson before, don’t take your eyes off the big guy until he’s dead. With the Mana Shield the attacks hardly mattered, even with the surrounding twenty Imps, they still kept their distance only attacking one at a time.

A full minute of HP Leech had passed, and finally the Chief Imp had succumbed too.

But now she had that army of Imps to contend to!

No worries, it didn’t take much more than a few Fireballs, a few Mana refreshes with MP Leech, and more HP Leech!

When the last were finally killed, she got a nice reward.
