So now she had her loot. She checked the tepee twice, went out and check around to make sure no emeralds or rubies were left about. There were none. Imps are poor creatures.
So now, onto the next battle.
…
You are hungry
You are thirsty
You are tired
It looks like she might have another agenda for the rest of the day. First thing, find food and water.
Not even a rat in here, she needs to leave this barren cave.
She called Charlotte and the two of them went out to find some food.
Once they had exited, Charlotte gave a heavy sigh and breathed in the fresh air. “I haven’t been outside since I was a wee little baby. That cave was going rancid with all those Imps, and especially that dog. Thanks for letting me out!”
“Of course,” said KillPrinsX, “that’s what I do. But I need to find some food. Maybe a rabbit or fox. Just something to fill my stomach, and a bit extra to take along for later.”
They went out and wound around the trees, going slowly, trying not to startle any wildlife before finding them.
“Why don’t you stay here and wait, maybe you can find something that comes along,” KillPrinsX said. She was thinking about Charlotte’s spidery nature, that they normally hunt stationary.
Charlotte obeyed, bolting up a tree and faced down, ready to pounce on any prey that may come along.
KillPrinsX kept walking, sneaking and trying to find something that wasn’t a bug or a rat.
You have learned the skill Stealth.
When you want to be sneaky, when you’re doing things you shouldn’t, when the quest brings you to the part you have to go in and steel a legendary ring right from under the king’s nose, your Stealth better be good.
Simply crouch and walk, and the skill activates silencing personal sounds and recognition. Reduces ability to be heard by 2% per rank.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Cost:
1 SP per second
Gives:
+1 HP per rank
-1 Solidity: Auditory: Silence
Alright, well that is helpful. It good to know that it’s basically automatic when crouching.
So she just kept going around, crouching looking behind trees, trying to find anything that might be edible. There’s absolutely nothing alive in here!
Just then her XP gave a tick up, and she got a notification.
Charlotte has killed an Elk!
Details: Lethal injection of Neurotoxic venom into the ribcage, (-5 HP) causing hearth failure, (debuff: Poisoned, Paralyzed, Cardiac arrest, Asphyxia, Brain damage) and death
XP gained: 75 XP
And there’s dinner.
She quickly made her way back to where she had left Charlotte. The Elk was very dead, the two holes of injection were quite large and oozing red and green. Charlotte was nearby, quite a ways up in the trees.
“Good kill,” KillPrinsX said. “I’ll just cut it up and we can cook it up for dinner.” Her stomach gave a growl in agreement as she said it and pulled out her new bone dagger to cut off a few good chunks.
With her hands full of bloody meat, she brought it back to the cave.
The fire was still lit, but just smoldering coals. It only took a few prods and a free piece of wood from nearby to get it going again. Soon enough she had a fire going and the meat on spits, having to turn them over occasionally.
The smell of cooked meat quickly emanated throughout the cave. A prompt had appeared, telling her that her Cooking skill was now at rank 2 and that the meat had been flame seared, rare, then medium rare, and then well done. She took them off the fire to cool down.
A few minutes later she was enjoying elk steaks.
The meat you have eaten was contaminated by a neurotoxin. As this came from an ally, your own pet, and due to your Psychic Innate Ability, you have the power to harness this factor.
To decline, you may suffer from it's effects.
Accepting this you will gain a new spell, Neurotoxin.
Well, that wasn’t a hard choice to make! She accepted and was rewarded accordingly.
You have learned Neurotoxin (no rank)!
When things are going rough, there’s no more spells, no more mana, weapons are broken, use nature! Poison those demon spawn and let them feel… nothing! Let their arms freeze in neurological decay, let their hearts stop beating, leave them wishing they had stayed home!
This spell will allow you to summon an amount of neurotoxin. You now have a measurement of neurotoxin available for use. Consuming more neurotoxins will increase the amount available. It will not recharge over time.
Costs:
Measurement of Neurotoxin relative to amount desired
Gives:
10 XP per fluid ounce
+5 HP
+5 Endurance: Recovery: Health
Now that’s a cool skill!
She quickly found a new bar beneath her HP/SP/MP bars. This one was a greenish yellow and was just a pinch above zero.
She’ll have to use that and try it out on a few rats. But for now, charge up that neurotoxin bar.
She finished eating a whole two steaks and she was about ready to sleep.
You are dehydrated!
You are tired!
Uh-oh. She forgot to find water outside. But, there were a few barrels filled with apparently fresh water.
She cautiously tried a sip and, while no debuff came, she drank some more. Feeling quite refreshed after having eaten she quickly went to find a place to sleep.
The tepee smelled like Imp pee, so she decided against it and instead found a relatively clean corner to rest.
“Just watch for any intruders,” she told Charlotte. And she closed her eyes for a blissful night.
