With a vast body of water not far infront of me, I look at a piece of paper that is in my hands.
"In this past 10 hours that I've spent getting here they have managed to build additional ships, how will this affect the budget given for war however?" I say to Lusaix right next to me, who in turn stares back into my eyes, with visible panic as I notice her pupils swim a bit. I sighed. "Cancel the construction of the rest of the ships. As much as it would be preferable to rely on the naval vessels for battle, we can't afford that for this time. It appears that we will have to rely on our individual strength, for the last time." Lusaix then turns to an officer in the room.
"Understood! I will relay the orders." The officer then leaves.
Located at the fortified port Kareem, The port is surrounded by crags that we have developed to work in our favor. Unfortunately, it seems the crags will be mostly useless as there is quite a number of flying enemies.
Mostly, I say as me and other certain people, including those that aren't any of the Scourge Wardens can manipulate the crags and send them into the air. It isn't very reliable however.
Just like how the Leviathan wasn't reliable against whatever sunk it. The firing of the crags is a one-time thing and would take a bit of time to make new ones, so it's better to leave them for the ones that are still bound to the ocean.
We have also set up formation-like walls that will repel large masses of water that climb dangerously high and disperses waves. In our vicinity, there is actually a mounted artillery below us.
It's an alephium cannon that is armed with a harpoon shot. It's bolted down for the purpose of chaining down and restricting the movements of anything big that can fly or swim.
The harpoons are enchanted with Fire Burst, which is extremely effective on armored fish as it creates cracks on their armor and can also deal great damage to it's insides which ends up creating a weakpoint for us. These weakpoints can be exploited for even more damage if we focus on it.
Of course, when the weakpoints are created that is when we start fighting ourselves. If an executive gets lucky, they can get multiple kills in one stroke.
However, we don't depend on luck. It's bad to simply gamble it all in one go.
And so, to counter any potential swarming against our fort, we have additional cannons at a further distance loaded with grapeshot enchanted with lightning. The lightning would on impact, cause damage to an area.
It's a larger area when the impact is made in water. But it's velocity slows down in water.
And of course, it has to hit something other than the floor to trigger it's effect. If it's effect isn't triggered, it keeps the effect fortunately. So it can be recovered for future use.
Alephium is simply the strongest metal that we've found yet. It has terrible conductivity to the point that it would disperse magic upon contact, but we've still managed to find a way to melt it down.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
It has an absurd melting point, at 2200 degrees celsius currently. I say currently because that melting point is increasing. Although very slowly, it still increases and has done so by so much.
The first time we encountered the metal it had a melting point of 1000 degrees celsius. And that was 1800 years ago. We have completely neglected the metal since then because it was extremely difficult to refine. It was a rather rare metal, and so we didn't realise it's true value until 600 years ago when there was a blacksmith who dug up the records on the metal that existed for 100 years at the time and learned that the melting point was incorrect.
He learned the new melting point and managed to melt it down. The same blacksmith decided to attempt to smelt the metal again 50 years later and found out that the melting point changed once again.
Along with the change of the melting point, the metal also became more durable. It became more difficult to wear away at the metal that it got to the point where we have to refine it using complex methods.
One such method was using fire, water, and air elements at the same time to slowly wear down the metal until it was malleable. When it reached that point, one would think that the metal is ruined.
But it was the exact opposite. The refining process instead made it slightly harder, It was a barely noticeable difference at first but now it's noticable.
Ever since then, the refining methods of alephium became the prime technique for any blacksmith to learn. When a blacksmith fully perfected such a method, they were considered the highest level of blacksmiths.
Even then, there was still improvements made upon the technique. Such improvements allows complex structures like the cannons mounted at this port.
The method takes an immense amount of energy at it's maximum potential. There were some blacksmiths who got too into the refining process that they died of exhaustion without realizing it.
To counter that, any blacksmith would now have to report to the palace or one of the executives so that they would be cared for during the process of refinement. If a blacksmith was going to run out of energy, and they wouldn't finish in time, we would stop them.
As I was thinking, the door opened. "Your Majesty, Duke Boikin has arrived at the port."
"Tell him to come see me." I replied. The officer who opened the door was bowing and then stopped to close the door and carried out my order.
A few moments later, ArdinKir'ka came in. "Your Majesty, a situation has occured."
Something that requires my attention? "What is it?"
"We found an unidentified person who beached at the shores close to this port."
"Very well, take me to them." An unidentified person? This indeed might need my attention then.
Alephium
Alephi's planetary exclusive metal. Alephi is the very first planet that has life on it, so the SYSTEM attempted to balance the potential chaotic and destructiveness of the progenitors born on the planet. Alephium was specifically set to create this balance. Alephium has the mysterious unique properties of being energy potent while being completely nonconductive to the point that energy would disperse upon contact with it. Alephium has another unique property that both the durability potential and melting point increases over time. No other planetary exclusive metal has ever shared all of these properties. As a result, Alephium becomes a mythical metal to all other lifeforms on other worlds.
Note:
Although energy all energy disperses upon contact with alephium, it's still possible to melt it down. Also there is one type of energy that does not disperse upon contact with alephium. Instead, it is complementry with that energy and alephium happens to usually be full of said energy in any form.
