After talking for a few minutes it turns out that Herolause and I had come to a rapport .

He was the type to stay in his room locked up for days , meticulously obsessing over every detail . Also he didn’t mind company so long as i was polite and well mannered

“So why exactly are you here?” I asked him, book in hand, scouring for a place to lay my buttocks.

While gingerly scanning for a book of his own while waiting to reply, Herolause replied “ here it is “ with a calm voice that showcases his relaxedness. “ I am on the brink of a new invention that will change the world. There are plenty of meat heads that know how to cause nothing but ruin to the lives of regular people that they grace with their presence. Property damage , water damage , you name it . I'm the guy who finds fixes up their mess ”

Seeing my confusion he restated “ I create robots and golems that aid with the removal of debris and wreckage. Though i can do much more , this is what my punishment is for the next few years or so “

Oh! That was much more interesting “so that's why you’re at this temporarily housing unit “ i asked Heroclause

Brows rising, he unanchored his head from the book that he was reading “temporary housing unit ?“ he said the words thoroughly

“Hahahahaaa- is that how you look at it? “ he asked, genuinely perplexed . His laugh became hearty for a small time. “ This is your temporary home but the rest of us are prisoners . Then again i like your way of thinking better “

“Oh “ I quipped back, unsure if I hit a sore spot or not , what did he mean by prisoners.

Regaining his natural disposition he began “ don’t worry about it , that is the long past , so how about you “ he asked with slight interest

This would be a good time to gain a new relationship , I should probably tell him. Obviously i’ll tailor the part about magic out of it

“My village was destroyed with my family being the only survivors. After that I realized I needed to learn more about myself , so I joined the military .”

It was mostly true , but kept my personal details private.

Did Herolause realize I omitted part of the truth , sly guy. Though i wouldn't tell him more if the reaction of the first guy, my mother and commander hall were to be used as a reference .

Mulling on how he figured out I had something to hide . After a while I decided it didn't matter and finally let my mind wander to the book. This is when tun tun who was previously silent felt her attentiveness renewed , as she snaked around me.

Sitting on a pile of books bigger than I was wide we began to read.

The western continent is a mix of wilderness and civilization. This is the only continent that supports life other than the Areith continent and is by far the biggest Continent. Sustaining most of the intelligent life , it has by far the most agreeable weather ranging from 10f to 110f. Consisting of tropics ,grasslands , swamps ,and mountains .It serves as the heartbeat of most living worlds .

Intriguing but not what I'm looking for , let's move on.

I skimmed through the content unsatisfied , looking for something that specifically had something to do with mana.After a few minutes of browsing through the table of context a dainty hand that belonged to tun pointed “ Chapter 23 : What is mana , Chapter 24 : where does mana come from , chapter 25: how to use mana .

Creating the Homunculus Atom to shepherd existence they destroyed themselves in order to experience all of sentience and thus created 4 things . space , time , life and mana .

So no one really knew . I wondered about the credibility of this book but Herolause and this overall area carried an air of sophistication .

“Wow who would’ve thought … what i'm comprised of was essentially the essence of the old transcendentalist? This opens up more questions thing anything but i was glad to have some type of answer “ tun tun said unknown to Herolause

“Yea , i guess we’ll learn more as we live , i mean it's impossible to learn everything you need to know in one day “ I said resigning myself to this bit of knowledge

That was tun tun wanted to know next was my own desires

Turning the pages my hopes all laid bare

“Chapter 25 How to use Mana “ The words emanated a slight mellow light and i was obsorbed

into the book.

Magic theory has tried to be replicated into basic segments for a novice to learn but each magician has their own unique way of activating their magic as well as the source of their magic. This means that each Magician themselves must monitor what works best for themselves. As one of the lucky few mages , I can understand your frustration .

I recommend carrying a journal to create your own methods and frameworks

Luxor the great : from what i’ve witnessed in my lifetime mana is stored around the body , not within. In chasm creatures it is the opposite , mana is stored in the beast.

This chapter seemed to continue for a few more pages.

These weren’t actual methods but accounts from the few mages in the world.

Were mages that rare or had information about magic been protected somehow , that and i had to start carrying a notebook.

Mana was about imagery and visualization , That's the only useful piece of information I could gather from the book. It had dawned on me that during my magic tantrum I wasn’t conscious , I was only there for the aftermath. Only when I was healing that guy ,whose name escapes me now , did I do some type of magic on my own.

Taking a deep sigh I closed the book with a loud clapping sound . i Would have to do a more thorough investigation when I had more energy. Tired from reading i finally decided to call it quits

Stretching my tiny legs I jumped off of my tall assortment of books stacked perfectly to be a seat.

“Getting ready to take off? Let me escort you “ said Heroclause not missing a beat

I think our relationship had blossomed to that of a friendship , he made a great impression on me.I wouldn’t look a gifted horse in the mouth , plus he was more well versed with the layout of this place.

“ Alright if you please “ i replied motioning for him to lead the way

With that we were off while making small meaningless chatter while we ascended the stairs . He was kind enough to accompany me to my room , which was underneath the staircase. Directly in front of me was the lambs room and I couldn't find the lycanthropes room.

Too tired to press the matter further , I opened my door to a basic residency . A table , and bed and other basic necessities including a small journal and pen .Settling into cotton white bed I laid the book beside me. Feeling both the mental and physical exhaustion I let myself fade into sleep.
