Chapter 158: Unlucky Cyclone

Chapter 158: Unlucky Cyclone

Silver Blade stared at the attack coming for her, feeling a sense of danger. She was just about to use her luring barrier when Radiant Shield spoke to her:

“Hold back for now, Silver. I will share this burden with you.”

With a wave of his hand, Radiant Shield’s own barrier enveloped Silver Blade to protect her.

The holy barrier shook heavily but it quickly stabilized.

“How do you like it? Your friend iss a great toniccc for my power!”

Listening to the boss’s ugly laugh, Balm gritted her teeth as she addressed Liam:

“Mirage! That thing ate Cyclone! Tell us how we can get her out!”

Liam shuddered, glancing towards the sky as if he could see Cyclone there. He knew the woman would flame Balm for putting it so disgustingly if she could communicate with them now.

“Mirage? Quick! Who knows what this monster is doing with our friend!”

Up in the sky Cyclone stared at Balm with poisonous eyes, wondering how she angered her friend for her to talk like that.

“Stop, stop! Don’t say more! Destroy one of the crystals scattered throughout the room!”

Liam quickly revealed the solution before Balm continued until Cyclone canceled their friendship.

The healer didn’t understand why Liam sounded so stressed. But she was glad that he provided a solution, turning towards a table closest to her.

A few violet crystals laid on top of it, spreading a cloud of dangerous void energy.

Balm waved her wand, sending a sphere of magic. But when it met the void energy, the magic was suddenly affected by a severe corrosion. It shrank until only a tiny spark hit one of the crystals, taking a single of its five HP.

Seeing that Balm took care of the crystal, the others put their attention back on the boss. Just as Bloody Edge wanted to dash forward, an anxious shout stopped him:

“No, wait! It’s too dangerous!”

“What are talking about, Silver?”

“The chance is high that Cyclone would be harmed if we attack now!”

The others showed contemplative expressions, knowing that Silver Blade’s logic was sound. Meanwhile the tank glanced towards their expert.

Liam couldn’t help but nod appreciatingly as Silver Blade’s guess was indeed correct.

However, the players’ inaction didn’t bother the ghost. It happily continued attacking. The barrier protecting Silver Blade suffered two more blows before Balm and Silent Acacia finally managed to destroy a void crystal.

When the crystal shattered apart, it unleashed a surprisingly huge amount of void energy. All the violet clouds in the room trembled, growing slightly, limiting the space the players had to move around.

Simultaneously a pulse ran through the boss. It was as if its body was overloaded with energy. It swelled, suddenly bursting. A violent explosion shook the room.

A moment later the ghost reformed next to Cyclone, weariness showing on its face.

“Balm! I will remember this!”

“What?”

Balm blinked her eyes, watching Cyclone with an oblivious expression. No one could tell if it was real or fake.

“Hmpf!”

Cyclone scoffed, searching for a place to vent her emotions. Fortunately, being overwhelmed by the ghost hadn’t interrupted her cast. Now that her spell was ready, she swung her staff angrily, looking forward to the boss suffering under her wrath.

Lightning crackled, connecting Cyclone and the boss, causing its skin to sizzle.

[-154!]

As soon as her skill was unleashed, lightning gathered on Cyclone’s new robe as its effect triggered. With every lightning skill cast by Cyclone it charged itself, gaining the ability to attack close-by enemies.

The ghost hadn’t moved far from Cyclone when it was bound by the lighting rope and hit by additional bolts of lightning emitted by Cyclone’s robe.

[-9!]

But the enraged mage wasn’t done yet. With a thought the [Phantom Clone] spell attached to her boots was activated. A blurry figure resembling Cyclone appeared next to her.

Both Cyclones raised their wands, sending additional attacks before instantly switching to a new cast.

Watching from a close distance Quickstep took a deep breath. She made a mental note never to anger Cyclone.

“Ahh!”

Simultaneously Fortune let out a low shout. She had been holding back her skill, causing her quite some pressure. Now that the ghost had separated from Cyclone, it was time for him to taste some arcane bolts.

The condensed magic left Fortune’s staff in quick succession, slamming into the ghost. Since it had just left Cyclone, the exhausted boss didn’t move much, allowing Fortune to land seven attacks.

[-108!]x7

“Why are you resssissting?!”

The boss spoke with a painful voice. Its eyes turned red while its arms weirdly grew longer. Suddenly it wildly flailed its arms like a crying child wanting its parents to buy a certain toy.

Cyclone watched the arm enlarging in her vision, having the misconception of a tree falling on her head.

“Stupid boss! I won’t stop until you’re dead!”

The blond woman let out an indignant shout. She closed her eyes, focusing on her body.

She felt the mana moving orderly according to the requirements of her ultimate [Thunder Rain] skill. Branding its movements in her mind, she suddenly attracted another wave of mana and spread it through her body.

Her skill shook dangerously, about to go out of control. Cyclone had to split her mind, forcing the mana to serve two different functions.

It felt like rubbing one’s belly with one’s right hand while patting one’s head with one’s left hand, incredibly awkward.

But in her anger Cyclone forced herself to hold on. Just as the boss’s arm was about to collide with her, the mage as well as her clone vanished between a few sparks and appeared some distance away.

With the successful flash step, the effect attached to Cyclone’s boots triggered, striking a random enemy. The ghost hissed angrily as another lightning bolt fell on its head.

[-193!]

“Wow, that was impressive, Cyclone!”

The others echoed Liam’s praise. They knew from their training how difficult flash step was even without distraction. No one expected Cyclone to pull of such a feat.

“Hehe, of course. I’m a great lightning mage after all!”

Cyclone’s chest swelled with pride hearing everyone’s praise. She floated on cloud nine, feeling that she had grown as a player.

Liam rolled his eyes seeing the mage carried away like this.

“Hey, great mage! Focus!”

Liam’s warning brought Cyclone back to reality. She immediately felt the mana in her body moving shakily, her cast about to fail any second. With an embarrassed smile Cyclone hastily brought her mana back under control.

With no player close to it, the ghost also began moving. It took a few steps back and sank into one of the clouds of void energy.

Suddenly Bloody Edge felt a movement behind him. He glanced over his shoulder, finding the ghost emerging from another cloud close to his back.

“You can do that?!”

The thief exclaimed in shock, hastily trying to escape. But just as he was about to leave the boss’s range, a heavy arm slammed into his back.

Bloody Edge was flung away by the terrifying blow, rolling on the ground. When his body stopped, he still had lingering fear in his eyes. He couldn’t help but glance at his status.

Seeing the few hundred HP he had left, sweat broke out on Bloody Edge’s forehead.

Balm also realized that their thief was close to death, sending him a timely [Heal].

[+3719!]

“Thank you.”

Feeling the warm energy engulfing his body, Bloody Edge knew that he was saved. Some self-blame remained, however, since the thief figured that it would be more efficient to use the potent heal on the tanks.

“Hey, don’t stay there! Gather around me, guys!”

Silver Blade’s shout brought everyone out of their stupor. They followed the tank, gathering at a spot far away from the void energy. Bloody Edge was the last to arrive, adjusting his mind to make up for his mistake.

The boss seemingly noticed that everyone was out of reach. Instead of approaching them it ended its skill before floating leisurely towards Silver Blade.

Its face had a mocking grin as if ridiculing the party for running away from it.

Two attacks coming from Fortune and Silent Acacia reached its body before it closed the distance.

[-220!!!]

[-69!]

The attacks seemed to work like a signal for the party. They quickly encircled the boss, determined to empty its HP.

Bloody Edge hurried, reaching the boss the fastest, suddenly appearing behind it. A bright light erupted as he activated his ultimate skill [Light’s Will].

The ghost averted his eyes, feeling as if stabbed by a thousand needles as the light burned the surface of its body.

With great tacit understanding the others didn’t miss their chance. It gradually became a habit for the melee classes to attack when Bloody Edge used his ultimate skill.

Quickstep’s swords, Watchful Eye’s staff, and Bleary Mirage’s weapons assaulted the boss, cutting of another huge chunk of HP, pushing the boss below 3000 points.
