Chapter 117: Plum Blossom Martial Arts

Chapter 117: Plum Blossom Martial Arts

Silver Blade stared at Fortune incuriously. But suddenly she sensed something. A rattling noise could be heard. Turning her head she watched as the elite ant freed itself from Final Fend’s skill.

Despite their deep black color, one could feel the hatred in the insect’s eyes. Suddenly it dug its legs deep into the sand.

Before anyone could react, a red light could be seen below Fortune’s feet.

“Watch out! It’s using a skill!”

A heavy pressure pressed against Fortune’s chest. Her thoughts moved slowly, still impacted by the joy of being able to show off her skills.

Suddenly the sand solidified. A sharp spike shot out of the ground, hitting Fortune’s chest with great power.

[-1047!]

The mage took a deep breath. A glance at her status showed that she lost about half of her HP.

The party was thrown into chaos from its dominant position just now. Two magical spheres sailed through the air. Silver Blade raised her shield instinctively.

However, with only a single point of stance left she couldn’t defend any longer.

[-370!]

[-397!]

Silver Blade didn’t care much about the almost 800 points of damage. She was specialized in defending against magical damage.

With Balm behind her and some still unused skills she could defend against the two small ants for days.

However, the elite was another matter. A red light lit up below Silver Blade’s feet. Always upholding her concentration, she managed to dodge immediately. Bits of sand scratched her face as a spike burst out of the ground right next to her.

“Come on, guys! Kill it!”

When Silver Blade shouted, the others had already begun moving. In the blink of an eye Watchful Eye appeared next to the elite, his staff delivering a powerful blow.

[-419!]

The taciturn man frowned unhappily, noticing how the elite survived with a sliver of HP. He was just about to use a skill when a blinding light slammed into the elite.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

[-311!]

With a strange sound the elite finally went to the floor, ceasing all movements. A wave of light spread from it, washing over the party.

[+143!]

Everyone felt a comfortable sensation hugging their bodies as they received a small heal.

Balm’s passive triggered several times, giving a few party members additional stats. But with the fight about to end those didn’t have much of an impact.

“Good job, Balm!”

Silver Blade leisurely praised their healer watching Bloody Edge and Fortune attacking the remaining ants, ending their lives.

The group gathered at the beach looking at the dead insects on the floor.

“I have to say it again: You really impressed all of us this time, Fortune! Well done.”, stressed Silver Blade.

“Thanks. But it was just luck. I have dabbled in martial arts to stay fit. Who would’ve thought that one of the postures would match my arcane bolts so well?

When I found out I focused solely on this single skill. I haven’t made any progress elsewhere.”

“I still think you are awesome, Fortune!”, commented Balm. “Can you show me that posture? Maybe it helps with my heals!”

Suddenly the young woman got a weird feeling. She looked left and right, noticing everyone looking at her strangely.

“What?”

“Balm, don’t you know that martial arts can’t be thought carelessly? Fortune could get into a lot of trouble with her school.”

“R… really? Sorry, I didn’t have much contact with martial arts in the past. Sorry, Fortune!”

Fortune looked at Balm’s genuinely distressed face and couldn’t help but chuckle:

“It’s alright. My school isn’t that strict. Everyone with some money can learn the Pear Blossom Martial Technique.”

Silver Blade nodded in understanding. The Pear Blosom Martial Arts were a school designed for woman to keep their beauty.

In the past she wouldn’t look favorably upon a practitioner of this technique. But now that it might have favorable effects for the game, the situation changed.

Silver Blade could already imagine the technique’s rise in the future if others found success with it as well.

Suddenly her body froze.

“Guys, I need to log off real quick!”

“What?”

“Did something happen, sis?”

“I need to urge the family head to buy the rights to the Pear Blosom Martial Arts!”

Everyone’s eyes lit up. Braag had the strongest reaction, imagining a mountain of gold before his eyes.

“Don’t worry, I will give all of you credit! I’m back soon!”

With those words Silver Blade suddenly disappeared.

When she found her consciousness again, the young woman was in her office within the company. She stood up quickly, almost falling out of the door.

A taciturn man with short black hair was already waiting for her. Silva was taken aback for a moment before showing a thankful smile to Watchful Eye, or rather her bodyguard Sam Colville.

Naturally the bodyguard wasn’t related to the Colville family. He was given this name after enduring the family’s harsh training program.

Since then, he had been working exclusively for the family, tasked with protecting Silva. The two had spent almost as much time together as Silva and Felix over the last ten years.

Like a silent shadow the intimidating man followed the young woman, getting into the car with her and driving home.

Watching this scene, Mr. Ontril frowned. He looked at the phone in his hand. A struggle could be seen in his eyes.

A few news came to the assistant’s mind. Silver Blade clearing the first dungeon. Silver Blade getting most of the loot form the world boss. Silver Blade reaching level 20 at an impossible speed.

Eventually Ontril gritted his teeth and put his phone far away.

Silva didn’t know anything about that. She hurried to reach the highest floor of her home. Entering her parent’s apartment she turned to the left, barging into a large office.

This room was specially prepared. Ever since Silva gained more favor from the family head, the old man allowed her branch of the family to contact him for important matters.

Now they didn’t need to go through her grandfather, the governor.

Silva hastily turned on the large screen, calling the family head on the far away Libra Star.

“A connection is being constructed.”

Listening to the mechanical voice anxiously, Silva felt a heavy pressure.

Maybe I was too hasty? Would the family head listen to me because of one successful case?

Does he even have the time to talk? Maybe he will deny outright and tell me to wait for the next family meeting?

Suddenly the screen changed, indicating that the connection was successful. Now it was up to the family head to accept the call.

Silva shook her head, forcing herself to calm down. Her face turned neutral. Only her quick heartbeat remained.

A few seconds later a smile flashed on Silva’s lips, quickly vanishing again when a familiar wizened face appeared on the screen.

Silva stood up straight looking at Edward Edel Colville. No words were said for what felt like an eternity. Silva felt her chest tightened, enduring the gaze of the powerful man before her.

Eventually the family head nodded slightly:

“Silva.”

Inwardly sighing in relief Silva quickly bowed.

“Family head. I have something to propose.”

“Go on.”

“Yes. I ask the family to buy the license to the Pear Blosom Martial Arts.”

Silva straightened her body again, watching the family head carefully. But the experienced old man didn’t show any change in emotion.

“What is your reason?”

Silva knew that this was the most important moment. She carefully explained Fortune’s situation.

Although Silva omitted Liam’s theory about magical skills training, it didn’t make much difference.

She knew that her family also had clues about the effectiveness of training skills in real life, information recovered from ancient ruins. Although no one had succeeded so far, it was only a matter of time.

And with Edward Colville’s intelligence and experience it was easy to draw conclusions.

An unnoticeable light flashed in the old man’s eyes when Silva’s explanation ended. Silence fell on the room again.

Finally, the family head spoke up:

“The family will discuss it.”

Silva quickly suppressed the joy in her heart. Although the old man sounded noncommittal, Silva knew that not scolding her was already the best sign.

“Yes. Thank you for your time, family head. I will take my leave now.

Goodbye.”

“Mhm. Goodbye.”

When the screen turned off, Silva slumped into a chair. Joy and relief could be seen on her face. With nowhere to vent her emotions she quickly took out her phone, sending messages to Cynthia and Liam.

After a few minutes she calmed down, going back to her own apartment.

When Sam saw the young lady’s face, he couldn’t help but smile as well. He already knew that the meeting went well.

Soon, the two returned to the game.

“Hey, I thought you wouldn’t come back.”, joked Braag.

“Haha, me too.”

Hearing Silver Blade’s delighted banter, Final Fend didn’t need to ask the question lingering on his lips. He secretly balled his fists, knowing that everything went well.
