Wrath of Venus: Chapter 3

The tunnels were a labyrinth of turns, dead ends, and streams of blood. Her boots were soaked, every step sloshed amongst the grime and filth. But Jessica didn’t care, not one bit. She knew these tunnels and where they led. She planned to take the reptile to the centre of the factory so she could face everyone head-on.

The reptile kept quiet; Jessica had to turn back a few times to remind herself that they were following her. The reptile was her silent support, her backup weapon.

They both halted as a small group of rats ran towards them, she switched her torch off and took a knee. Jessica could tell that something was coming or at least waiting for them.

‘Tell me, what happens if they escape?’ She asked.

‘They won’t.’ The reptile assured her.

It didn’t take long for a machine gun fire to rain down their position. Jackson picked Jessica up and put her behind cover. She took a breath as she only escaped death by the skin of her teeth. She peeked around the corner, only to duck back as brick shrapnel exploded near her face. They see us; she thought to herself.

‘Jackson,’ Jessica pointed to a set of tunnels. ‘Take the third tunnel to your left, it will make you loop around and flank them. I’ll hold here!’ The reptile gave a nod before they ran off into the darkness.

The cultists at the tunnel continued to fire their machine guns, forcing Jessica to hunker down. The shooting stopped, she could recognise their voices. They laughed while they thought they scared her away, how cowardly she was. But she remembered who they were, how vile they were to her, how they mocked her for her hobbies, disregarded her feelings while she had to accommodate for theirs, how they undermined her when she was left in charge of the bakery.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

She gritted her teeth, her knuckles cracked while she tightened her grip on her rifle. Bastards! The whole lot of them! She ran out the safety of her cover, screaming her heart out with her AK by her side while she held down the trigger. The cultists fired back, the flash of the machine gun showed their terrified faces as she continued her ferocious charge.

A bullet struck her stomach and jolted her back, but she kept moving. Determined with bloodlust rage, for all on her mind was murder. She shot one cultist dead, and at the same time, her magazine ran dry. She held the red-hot barrel of her gun like a bat, her skin steamed and blistered while she cracked the skull of the second cultist. The third one pulled out their knife and locked into a melee with the furious woman.

She waved her gun erratically, missed every blow, at a few points she slammed it against the wall. But she didn’t care that it damaged the gun beyond use, she wanted him dead and she would do anything to put him under. It was personal, and she wanted to make sure he died because of her. No death would be as insulting as any other.

He found an opening and broke her guard, knocking her to the ground. He jumped on top of her, but she caught the knife before it could plummet into her neck. They wrestled the blade, but she gained the upper hand by redirecting the knife away from her face.

Before either side could change their duel, the reptile came from behind and snapped the neck of the cultist. Jessica took a quick breath before the reptile helped her up.

‘They know we’re here.’ The reptile remarked.

Jessica picked up a new AK from the ground and unclogged it. ‘Good, I wouldn’t have it any other way.’ She retorted before she headed off. With the reptile following behind.
