Immortal Killers: Chapter 3

Immortal Killers: Chapter 3

The mind is a fragile thing. Any blunt force trauma would often leave the person with intense consequences that they could carry for the rest of their lives. If Ryan didn’t regain consciousness in a few seconds the moment his world went black, a concussion was the least of his worries. Alas, it only took two seconds for his eyes to awaken. Inside of a beautiful hotel by the beach, with a tall human marching towards him for the finishing blow.

But before the immortal could kill Ryan, the reptile grabbed a torn piece of shower curtain on the floor and wrapped it around the man’s neck to throw him over the reptile’s shoulders to the other end of the hall. After the reptile chucked the curtain to one side, he glanced at Ryan to see if he was alright before returning his gaze to the tall figure. Blue blood seeped from Jackson’s snout, and it was clear that his fight was not over. He pulled out two brass knuckles and readied themselves for the immortal.

The two warriors charged at each other to continue their violent brawl. Jackson punched the immortal at every pressure point and weak spot only to find his blows weren’t hurting them. The immortal retaliated, trying to grab onto the nimble reptile that caused him trouble. But Jackson knew how their foe moved, the attacks they would make. Using the immortal’s momentum against themselves, Jackson used his tail to trip them face-first into the ground where Jackson latched onto him to bash his head into the wooden floor while he grabbed his next row of enchanted weapons to use.

Furious, the immortal hopped off the ground with Jackson holding onto his back. The immortal slammed his back against the wall, only to find out that the reptile had already jumped off with an enchanted baton in hand. Jackson lunged, using the baton to hook around the immortal’s neck so he could drive their face to Jackson’s knee with a loud bang. Normally it would outright kill a normal human or in the immortal’s case knock them out, but the immortal felt nothing. With a limp, Jackson took a step back to reassess the situation. To the immortal’s surprise, a small trail of blood leaked out of his nose.

They continued their melee, but to Ryan, he could hear the crack of Jackson’s knuckles, the scales of his fist slowly peeling off, and the popping of ribs when the crazed immortal was lucky enough to land a hit on the reptile. It seemed none of the enchanted weapons were working, and Jackson was getting slower, tired, and hurt. Compared to the immortal, the man they all came to fight was unharmed even if his nose bled for a brief moment. He didn’t break a sweat, nor was he becoming weaker from their prolonged battle. Ryan knew he had to step in to give the reptile a chance, or a moment to catch their breath.

Ryan reached for his pistol and fired it at the immortal as soon as Jackson was kicked away. Frustrated, the immortal turned around to see the injured soldier still leaning against the table he banged his head against. He stomped towards Ryan, not slowing down as he was shot repeatedly by Ryan’s Taurus PT92.

From the other side of the hallway, a glint could be seen from the other side followed by a bullet crashing at the back of the immortal’s head. It seemed Mark found the perfect spot and the right time to distract them for long enough for Ryan to stand up and make an escape.

Good fucking shot! Ryan thought to himself as he rushed to the elevator to make his escape. As the door closed in front of him, he noticed the reptile approached the immortal with one last weapon, a knife with a blue hue.

The cowboy was grateful that he made his daring escape as soon as he could. While shots could be heard outside, he prayed for Jackson and Mark to keep the crazed immortal at one spot.

As the elevator doors opened to the first floor, Ryan limped to the entrance to reunite with his squad. ‘This is not what I call a fun day at work.’ He mumbled.

Unfortunately, his hope for a quick unification with his team came to an abrupt end when Jackson and the immortal crashed through the window of the fifth floor and fell in front of the entrance of the hotel. The reptile stumbled onto his feet before coughing out blood and teeth.

Behind the barricades that kept the civilians away, everyone of Ryan’s team members readied their weapons and prepared to leap into battle to slow the immortal down so the civilians could escape if Jackson failed to find an enchanted item or died during the battle.

But besides fear, Ryan felt hope. Since before they could rapidly heal, he noticed gashes on the face and chest of the immortal. ‘The knife works,’ Ryan smiled as he staggered away for cover.

Yet the reptile finding the enchantment that could injure the immortal was one thing, he would need to wait for the enchanted bullet to be made. Wiping the blood from his face and a quick shake of his head, the reptile readied himself to fight. His opponent had changed, besides a cocky attitude and the belief that his immortality made him invulnerable to pain and consequences. It was then Ryan saw fear on their face, that the pesty reptile was far tougher than he imagined despite clear indications of broken bones in the reptile’s body, bruised scales, and open wounds. Yet despite the pain, and the injuries inflicted, Jackson was still standing and ready for more.

So, the immortal made their first mistake and turned around to run away. But before he could take his first step, the reptile darted towards him and pinned the immortal onto the ground. Jackson drove his blade under the armpits and along the collar of the immortal, blood splashed everywhere and all over the reptile's face. While the wounds healed as soon as the skin split open by the knife’s blade, the immortal screamed in agony. The suffering inflicted by the reptile however, couldn’t last forever. Tired, and unable to continue his relentless assault, the immortal managed to knock Jackson off with a swift elbow to the side of his chest.

Rising from the ground, and knowing that he couldn’t escape Jackson and his violent determination. It was then in front of every onlooker, the head and chest of the immortal exploded as the enchanted bullet finally arrived to Mark. The purple crystal clanked onto the ground in front of the reptile, he took a few deep breaths and sighed for the immortal didn’t seem to heal.

Yet, the reptile flinched. Without pause, he picked up the crystal as skin and muscle started to form around it. Creating a new body for the immortal. As the body continued to regenerate around the crystal and began reforging organs out of nothing, Jackson reached into the chest cavity with his right hand and grabbed onto the newly formed heart. The reptile waited while his hand fused inside the immortal, and once the regeneration was finished, the immortal gasped and groaned in pain, their body locking up as their heart was unable to pump enough blood around the body.

Jackson tightened his grip, not hard enough to stop the immortal’s heart from working but tight enough so they could be in agonising pain. Knowing he couldn’t remove his hand; Jackson raised his knife and severed his right hand. The immortal collapsed to the ground, their body tensing and unable to move. Some people gagged and screamed at the gruesome sight they had witnessed. But to everyone else who came to combat the immortal, they saw it was a mission success.
