Chapter 32: Terios VS Kazuki

Chapter 32: Terios VS Kazuki

How long have I been standing here with my eyes closed? Is this really going to work or was he just stalling for time? I want to believe in him, but, I don't know.

After awhile Terios felt a massive amount of energy erupt from his body and his eyes shot open. This feeling was incredible it felt as if he had been reborn as someone else. He wasn't sure what Samyaza had done but it felt good.

"What? Did it finally work?" Terios asked.

"Yes. You'll still be at a disadvantage since you don't have time to test your abilities. I only hope for the best."

"Ya sure it worked? He still looks like the same scrawny loser to me." Akemi chuckled.

"Come on, you still have time to joke at a time like this!?" Terios shouted.

"I'll always make time to put you down."

"Jerk."

Terios turned around to face his sister before he gave her a hug, running his hands along her back. "I'll come back in one piece. I promise."

"You better." Setsuna whispered.

Giving off a faint smile, Terios turned to head out, spreading his oddly colored wings before vanishing off into the skies.

Hopefully everyone is ok. I can't shake this feeling that something bad is going to happen.

Kicking up his speed he took off, flapping his wings constantly. With the memory Samyaza placed into his mind he knew just where to go because it felt like he's been there previously. It was amazing what Angels could do.

When he entered the area of the forest he noticed the dark clouds that surrounded the area and descended below. His gut feeling was right something troublesome had happen. Wandering through the forest he ran into Ira who was passed out on the floor.

"Ira! Hey, wake up!"

He said as he bent down next to him and started to pat him. He didn't know if he was dead or alive until he noticed that his chest was moving which caused him to sigh.

"Uggh. Chill out, I'm good." Ira said.

"What happened?"

"Nogah happened. I went overboard and got hung over."

"Where is he?"

"Heck if I know."

"What about the others?"

"They went off ahead. You go, I'm going to chill here for a bit."

"Alright."

Terios gave Ira a pat on the shoulder as he sat up. He walked on along deeper into the forest. The deeper he entered the more on edge he became. Keeping his guard up would be crucial at a time like this.

Eventually, he came across the spoils of war, his friends laid in pretty bad condition and the other group of people were preparing to leave the scene. Seeing everyone like this with blood leaking from them was overwhelming.

He felt anger and resentment swelling up inside of him. He gritted his teeth together before he shouted with anger.

"Kazuki!"

Hearing that voice caused the group to turn around. Kazuki stared at the male before putting the pieces together of who he was.

"Terios?"

"What's it matter to you?"

"So you're his son? I don't see the resemblance."

"I could say the same to you."

"Son of Azazel?" Hillel paused. "I haven't written about you yet. Have you come to accomplish the same fate as your friends?"

Shizuka and Emi remained quiet while Hillel started writing in his journal.

"Kazuki. I'm going to pay you back for what you've done to my friends." Terios said as he formed a portal from his shadow, grabbing one of his blades.

"Go on without me. I wish to see why Azazel's so interested in him."

"Fine. I want you to go in detail about everything." Hillel said before he took his leave.

"Hurry up and crush him, Kazuki." Emi walked off along with Shizuka by her side.

"You know about me I assume?"

"Yeah. Your father told me what I needed to know."

"Then you should already know that I will stop at nothing to assure that we survive. To see my mother avenged."

"I know. That's why I have to stop you here."

Terios began to run toward Kazuki, gripping his blade tightly. He knew about his fatal light speed slash, but that was all anyone knew about him. A swing so quick that nobody could see it coming it just instantly hit them.

How the hell would he even counter something like that?

"It doesn't matter what you do, how far you are, or how quickly you move. I can cut anything at anytime, Terios." Kazuki said coldly.

Kazuki's hand rested on the hilt of his blade and as Terios closed the distance he realized he had already been cut. His chest was ripped open slightly and only few traces of blood dripped out.

"How? When?"

"That doesn't matter."

Kazuki drew his blade out and swung it forward at normal speed or so he thought. Terios managed to block it with his own, but somehow blood gushed out from his arms.

"Your attacks are so fast... I can't even pick up on any pain...'

"You'll feel it shortly."

No wonder he's recognized as the strongest among us. I don't even know if I can beat this guy... no shut up, I have to beat him or things won't end well for anyone!

Terios stepped back and looked down at his bleeding arms which slowly began to heal. He forgot all about that. It was handy in this situation.

"Your regeneration is a blessing... but a curse as well. You'll just keep healing from all of the cuts I deliver to you. Until you pass out from the pain."

Terios slammed his blade into the ground, summoning up a storm of shadows which fired up beneath Kazuki. In an instant he stepped back and swung his blade generating a wave of light which sliced every piece of shadow apart.

"Ngghhh!"

"Isn't it funny? Your using darkness to do what you think is good and I'm using my light to do something you think is evil. This just goes to show you that light will always overcome the darkness."

"Not this time. The darkness is going to consume the light!"

Now would be a good time to make use of a new trick.

Terios yelled as he dashed forward again. Kazuki remained in his position with his blade in his grip, preparing to cut his foe down. At the right moment, he unsheated his blade and sliced the Nephilim in half or so he thought.

Terios' body released black mist instead of blood and soon faded away. The confusion was just enough time for him to appear behind him and thrust his blade for his chest. With this attack he would inflict all the damage he needed.

Unfortunately, Kazuki's movement speed was beyond anything that he's ever faced. In an instant he faced Terios and blocked the attack with his blade while cutting at his knee all in one swift movement.

"Nice trick. You caught me off guard. I can afford to be caught off guard since my reaction times are so heightened."

"What can't you do!?"

Terios glanced down at the two and noticed their shadows were awfully close to one another. Maybe he could manipulate that to ensnare him? It was worth a try. With his mind he raised the shadows ahead, forcing them to wrap around Kazuki.

It was hard to avoid your own shadow after all no matter how quick you were. Now with him pinned Terios was going in for the kill, one simple swing would all he needed.

As his blade inched closer a flash of bright light emitted from his body forcing him back and destroying the shadows that kept him locked. Terios slid back a few feet and took a knee as he tried to collect himself.

I haven't managed to land a single hit on him and he's cutting me with ease. At this rate I won't be able to win this battle. Damn it. What else do I have in my arsenal?

"You have potential, but it's too early for you to beat me."

"…"

"This is how it's suppose to be. War is only started when a person has nothing else to lose, but everything to gain."

"You're wrong."

"Hmm?"

"You have a sister who you could lose, Kazuki. There's also your humanity! You'd be killing innocent people who had nothing to do with this!"

"We were never meant to be humans. I never was human and neither were you. We're different from mortals. When they bleed they cry. When we bleed we heal. Humans aspire to be the best person they can be while we aspire to be gods."

"… Shut up."

"No. You need to know this. We're Nephilim. With all of this power it'd be hard not to harm someone. Gods abuse their power all the time and they feel no remorse to the people it affects. Each time I kill an Angel I feel no sense of sympathy for them."

"I've heard enough from you!"

"Angels are mere slaves. They aren't even people. They lack feelings and emotions and those that show it are corrupt. They'll follow the orders of their God no matter what it was. Even if it was to take their own lives. Every Angel I've killed showed no reaction to its fate."

"Killing is still wrong."

"It isn't when you're killing to avenge someone you care about. What if someone you knew was taken from you? Wouldn't you do anything to kill the person who took her from you?"

"I would."

"Then you and I are no different. We're killers. But we don't kill for evil. We kill to avenge the people that we care about. Now that you know this what will you do?"

"I'm going to do what I came here to do. I'm going to stop you!"

"Even knowing that we're no different? It makes no sense to stop me."

"Actually it does. I'm fighting for peace something that this world needs. I'm going to stop you from releasing the seals no matter what."

"I respect your choice, but I won't allow you to get in my way."

It doesn't matter how far I am from Kazuki he'll cut me. I should just ignore trying to stop his cuts and focus on cutting him. Offensive will be my prime method.

Terios formed another portal and grabbed his other place. Now that he was dual wielding he would try to overcome Kazuki by blasting him with a frenzy of attacks. Hopefully this would work.

Terios shot off a series of tendrils, the shadows dipping toward Kazuki who didn't show a sign of worry. In a quick movement he slashed all of them down with a strike infused with light. After the attack he noticed Terios was in front of him.

He guarded against every strike that Terios fired at him. Their swords meeting each other perfectly. Each blade had their own path to walk, one wanted to cause a war while the other was desperate to stop it.

Their emotions poured through their blades and neither one was showing a sign of giving up. The two danced around the forest as if they had rehearsed, but it simply came natural.
