I was piercing Katy with my cold glare and she shivered in Jane’s embrace.
It seemed like I had failed again. I knew long before the words left my mouth, but I had still said them.
I wanted to help them recover from Kurt, but I had just pushed them further away. What good could come from my words that were laced with sharp thorns.
The intention to hurt somebody, would never be a good thing.
Jane spoke, breaking the deep tension in the air, “Katy, you have been rude to Azure.” It surprised me that she would take my side, but that only left me with more guilt.
“How? How was I rude? Why are you taking his side?” Katy whimpered, none of her previous fierceness remained.
“Azure is only trying to help, and what did you do to him?” Jane responded.
“Fine. Then, Azure, I apologize.” Katy responded pitifully.
“No, I am the one who must apologize. I shouldn’t have said those words.” I responded deeply.
An awkward silence occurred between the two of us caused by the apologies.
Luckily there was Jane.
“Now that both of you have apologized, let's return to our main topic. Katy, will you help fight against Kurt?” Jane spoke very clearly and made it easier to recover from our previous attitudes.
“I-I-I will. What do I need to do?” She said with a slight momentum. Jane looked over to me, directing me to my next line.
“For now we just need to stay in contact. Then when the time comes, all six of you will testify in court, I will ensure that he goes to jail.” I answered looking at the two of them, who only replied with slight nods.
“For now, I suggest telling your parents.” I added on.
“What?” Katy said in exasperation.
“You need to tell your parents.” I reaffirmed with a different determination.
“But why?” Katy asked.
“First, your parents have loved you since you were born, they shouldn’t be left out, they're your support. And second, do you think you can testify in court without their permission?” My first point felt a bit more serious than the second.
Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
“Okay, I guess I have to.” Katy responded sadly, and the way she did surprised me. She did not question testifying, but resigned herself to talking to her parents. She must not be a bad person if she was so devoted.
“But you don’t have to do it now, and you don’t need to do it alone.” I added on.
“I will be there whenever you need me to, just ask.” I said without hesitation.
“Really? Will you come too Jane?” She asked pitifully.
“I will.” She replied kindly.
After I left I had parts of my plan to reconsider. I had been too obsessed with finding them all that I had neglected helping them recover.
Time passed and I felt slightly hopeless, what could I do now?
I decided to move forward by checking on Mr. Walters, a very snake-like teacher.
I walked into the teachers lounge during lunch. I got some weird stares from teachers that were eating. I ignored and walked toward Mr. Walters, who was eating lunch.
“Azure, did you need me for something?” Mr. Walters asked with his usual comforting smile.
“Yes, I wanted to check with you on that previous ‘assignment’.” I emphasized the word very carefully.
Mr. Walters only let out a sigh, before saying, “There has been little progress, but it’s almost going to make an improvement.” He also chose his words carefully in case someone was listening.
“I see, I will make sure to report when there is progress made.” My eyes were becoming more poisonous.
“Make sure to do so, I will be waiting.” He nodded before going back to his food.
I left the teachers lounge and made my way back to the classroom. To my surprise when I opened the door, all eyes did not fall on me.
Instead all focus was on a handsome student sitting in a chair. The handsome student was tall and had short blonde hair. He also had a nice expression that was a little hesitant. Anyone would judge him to be the class leader, both athletic and smart.
I finally noticed that he was sitting facing Kaede, who had a bothered look hidden on her face. I immediately considered the worst and activated my power.
There was nothing. No sign of sin.
I froze, it was impossible. The only people I had seen like this were Mr. and Mrs. Drake.
How can anybody, especially a Teenager not have done anything even slightly bad in their life.
I began to look inward, if you compared the two of us we were probably complete opposites.
He had likely grown up with a loving family, never going through the troubles I did. He likely had friends everywhere, not abandoned like I was.
I looked back to Kaede, who noticed my eyes, and she gave me a pleading look.
I did not belong anywhere in the conversation with the two of them. I lazily returned to my seat, and placed my head on my desk. I hid in my shell once again.
I overheard their conversation. It seemed like the handsome blond guy was interested in Kaede. The guy was very polite in his speech and would not be excessive. On the other hand Kaede was slowly getting more desperate in refusing.
I had to remind myself that Kaede no longer had anything to do with me.
I was interrupted in my nightmarish thoughts by tapping on the back. It was Bell and she looked worried.
“Why aren’t you helping her?” She asked, getting more panicked.
“She doesn’t want anything to do with me.” I responded depressed. “You wouldn’t either, knowing what she knows.” I slowly added on.
