“I know I am the worst. I even killed someone.” The words left my mouth and a visible shock shook Kaede’s spine.
She instinctively took a step back while maintaining a wide eyed look. Like it was difficult to believe, or unable to accept.
She thought I was a good person, however no murderer is a good person.
I expected this reaction from her, but it is still painful. Being refused when you tell the truth about yourself. It just means that they don’t accept your very being.
Only Mr. and Mrs. Drake accepted the true me. I felt that no one else in the world would even consider it.
All the words I said were true, from the very beginning.
I will hurt her when she is close to me. She should stay away.
I am a bad person, who has even killed.
I am always left alone, abandoned.
I was held deep in my thoughts and barely noticed her running away.
In a ramble of self depressing thoughts I just sat on the bench. Wallowing in my pure black life that drowned in the abyss.
The next day I listlessly went about my day. Walking to school, depressed, and made it to the classroom. To my surprise there were no new rumors. Did Kaede not spread any rumors? Or did she just not spread any yet?
I sat with my head against the warm desk, not caring for the outside world in the least. Only when I was slapped on the back did I return to the environment around me.
“Why are you so depressed?” Abby asked me with a curious expression. I looked over at Kaede’s desk to see her talking to some classmates. She suddenly noticed my gaze and jumped back afraid. Only a fearful wide eyed expression showing on her face.
“What is going on?” Abby asked again insistently, while noticing the abysmal interaction between Kaede and myself.
“It’s nothing.” I replied coldly.
“It can't be nothing.”
“Why not?” I asked in turn.
“Because we have to meet Rachael today.” Abby responded. I was shocked that I would forget. It seemed like Mr. Drake was right. Kaede had a bigger effect on me than I thought.
“It's really nothing.” I replied, trying to end the conversation. I brought my mind back to my objective while waiting for the school day to end.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Abby and I met Haven at a park close to Rachael's House. Abby and Haven tried to discuss a plan, but they were thinking too complicated. I told them just to follow suit and started to look for Rachael's address among the number of houses.
We quickly found the right address. Haven was starting to get nervous. Paying no comfort to her situation I continued forward. I rang the doorbell and waited in silence.
Around a minute had passed before the door finally opened. Behind the door was an older woman with an unsettling expression and deep bags under her eyes.
“Hello Mrs. Flake, I am Azure Barrett. We came from Rachael's school to check on her condition.” I spoke the words, but Mrs. Flake only looked upon them suspiciously.
“Didn’t a group of you come just last week? Nothing you are doing is working.” Mrs. Flake said in a rude manner, her words on the other hand showed more concern.
“I still must take an attempt to try. If I gave up so easily, wouldn’t that be even worse for her.” I said. Mrs. Flake looked surprised. The words were not what you would expect from an average teenager.
“Fine.” She finally gave in and led us into the house.
She quickly led us upstairs to a door, a small tray of food resting on the ground.
“She refuses to talk to me, she only opens the door to eat a pittance of food.” Mrs. Flake said with a face of worry.
“Leave it to me, I will do my best to help.” My words provided no comfort to her upright expression.
“Rachael, can we talk?” I asked through the door. Silence left us feeling a bit awkward.
“Rachael, I know what happened.” After I spoke there was no room for silence.
“Tell me what happened to Rachael right now.” Mrs. Flake yelled at me suddenly.
“She should tell you herself.” I replied, still calm.
“Who are you? How do you know?” A voice from the other side of the door said.
“Rachael doesn’t even know you. What are you doing here?” Mrs. Flake bantered again.
“I am here because I know, because I want to help. Please let me talk to you.” I spoke to the closed door in front of me.
“W-why should I-I trust y-you?” The voice from the door asked.
“You have no reason to trust me, but if you want to move forward, if you want revenge. I am the only one who is willing to help.” I answered. At this point Mrs. Flake only held quiet trying to listen to our conversation.
A long silence held the hallway. It was broken by the opening of the door.
On the other side of the door, was a girl. The girl, Rachael, had dark hair and a small face. Her eyes were red, and her face held a scarred expression. She was wrapped in a huge pink blanket and only her face and bangs were revealed.
“Hello Rachael, I am Azure Barrett. The two people behind me are Abby, and Haven.” I introduced ourselves first. Who knew how she was feeling in this situation.
“H-hello.” A small voice came out of the tall blanket.
“Where do you want to talk?” I asked harmlessly. She stood in shock for a second. She was probably scared of people, especially men.
She let out a small voice, “We can talk inside, but my Mom can’t come.” In reaction to her words her Mother looked worried, rightfully.
“Ok we will come in now.” I said before carefully proceeding. After we entered the room Rachael closed the door behind us.
The room was a mess. Clothes covered the entire floor, and dust covered many surfaces. Several clues were strewn across the room, and I had to put them together to find a clue. Clothes on the ground, dust everywhere, a clean mirror. I had sudden inspiration and had found a heartful clue.
I cleared a spot on the ground and sat down, Abby and Haven followed.
“What do you want to talk about?” Rachael asked after sitting on her bed.
“I want you to testify against Kurt.” I said my intentions directly. Once again, once the horrid name was heard, a shiver went through both Rachael and Haven’s spines. Rachael immediately hid under a large amount of blankets on her bed.
“Please help me with this.” I spoke, my words causing surprise in the two people sitting beside me.
