Chapter 6:
“Boss, wake up, somethings happening.”
Oliver was sound asleep, dreaming of the fortune he could make one day, the only thing stopping him from emasing wealth was… manpower and something to profit from.
“Hmm, what is it Zack?” Asked Oliver opening his eyes slightly.
“There’s a message in all of our status windows. I think you should give it a read.” He said.
Oliver had stood from his cot and put his clothes on, then he went into the kitchen area and saw Zack, Michael, and Alana reading something on their status windows.
“Sir, good morning, how was your rest?” Asked Michael.
“It was okay, how was yours?”
“Good, thanks for asking.” Michael Replied.
“What are you all looking at?” Oliver asked.
“There’s a message from the voice we heard during the character creation.” Replied Alana.
“Hmm, let me see.” Oliver opened his status and lo and behold, there was a message.
Status:
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Strength: 6 (Avg 10)
Agility: 4 (Avg 10)
Luck: 13
Mana: 2000/2000
Affinities: Earth, Water/Ice, Wind, Fire, and Bone
Global Message: Greetings, it has been exactly 24 hours since the “changing” of this world, some people should be adapted to their new strengths by now, if not already dead. A new feature has been added to your world. Dungeons will now spawn, and inside there will be treasures ripe for the taking. Food products, weapons, armor, etc. Anything can appear in the dungeon. Good Luck!
“Well, that sounds interesting.” Said Oliver, everyone else was already done reading the message and had started to munch on a protein bar for breakfast.
“Yup, we'll be able to get some cooler weapons, I’d love a giant hammer!” Said Michael.
“Yeah, I think a bow would be cool.” Said Alana, eating a peanut butter flavored protein bar.
“No, no, a sword is what you should be wanting, right Oliver?” Asked Zack.
“I agree, a sword has many uses and anyone can use a sword with a little bit of practice.” Oliver said he was also now eating a protein bar. “But, I’m more interested in Food products or armor, I don’t exactly need any weapons… ha, I am a weapon.” Everyone started to laugh as he said that with a grin on his face.
“True, you could probably burn us to a crisp if you wanted to, hahaha!” Laughed Michael.
“Anyways, I think we should get this vehicle built and find a dungeon or go hunting. We should also go out and find some gold or silver.” Oliver announced.
“What use is gold in the apocalypse?” Asked Alana.
“Yeah, what would we use that for?” Zack asked with a doubtful look on his face.
“Are you two serious, gold and silver are the eternal currency, paper money has no value after this change. You see, people are hard wired to crave gold and silver, it’s in their blood. It’s like a basic instinct for us. If you offer someone gold, they’ll do anything to get it.” Oliver said in a tone of superiority. As if these idiots didn’t know that, he thought.
If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.
“Ah, now that you mention it, I can see your reasoning. But where would I get this gold from?”
“That's simple, Fort Knox, that place has more gold than I’ll ever need.” Replied Oliver.
“Oh is that close, I’ve obviously heard of Fort Knox, but where is it? Close by?” Asked Zack.
“Nope, it's in Kentucky.”
There was a brief moment of silence in the room.
“Obviously, we’ll have to wait for a better time and when we're more powerful.” Said Oliver.
“Yeah, you had me worried for a second.” Said Michael.
“Anyhows, I still need to learn what this Bone Affini—” Oliver was suddenly whisked away to the void once again. But this time, there was no blue screen.
“Why am I here again?” He quickly shouted.
“Welcome back, I see you’ve already established yourself and you even have lackeys. Consider me impressed.” Said the familiar voice.
“It's you again. Why did you bring me back?”
“Simple, I gave you a unique power and now I will teach you how to use it.”
The void suddenly disappeared and Oliver was now standing in the middle of an open field, the breeze flew across the grass and swayed the branches of a nearby tree.
“Jesus, It's so damn bright.”
“Yes, it is. That's why there's a tree next to you, go under it and we’ll talk for a bit. You wouldn’t want to burn your skin to a shade of bright red, right?”
“I suppose that wouldn’t be desirable.” Oliver said, reluctantly making his way to the large oak a few meters away from him. Once under the tree, he sat on a large root that resembled something of a bench. “So, teach away.”
“I will, for starters your bone affinity is a unique affinity. Only you and your descendants can hope to have it.”
“Are there other unique affinities?” Oliver asked.
“Yes, of course there are, but relatively speaking you’re quite lucky to get Bone…. I’ll continue then. The bone affinity has three major parts. Bone Control, Bone Armor/Weapon creation, and Bone Minion Creation… Bone control allows you to control bones with your mind, with it you could set broken bones, make a bone spear fly towards your enemies, and you could even make someone split in half… Bone Armor/Weapon Creation is exactly how you’d imagine it, you can use bones to craft any weapon you can imagine or any armor. The durability will be determined by how much mana you infuse into it when creating the item.”
“I see, that could be helpful for combat, but, get to the good part already!”
“Yes, I guessed that the Bone Minion Creation would be your favorite. I know everything about you and I do admit I’m curious to see what you do… I mean, to this world… Bone Minion Creation allows you to either build a minion out of bones you find lying around or from a corpse of a monster. Again, the power of the minion will be determined by how much mana you use when making the minion. Of course, the minions will all be loyal to you. They’d die for you… well… you know what I mean.”
“Yes, that would be very helpful, extremely so.” His grin appeared on his face once more. Guess I have the manpower now? He thought.
“So, before I send you back, let's practice.”
Suddenly a goblin started to charge at Oliver. He stood up, charged a fireball, and the rest was obvious.
“Good, good, the mana is powerful in you.”
“Thanks…?”
“Now, make it a minion.”
“Ha, sure, let me try.”
Oliver held out his hand and a dark purple cloud appeared in his hand. The cloud sped towards the charred goblin corpse and started to imbue it with a dark mist. The goblin rose from the ground and approached the newly born Necromancer and bowed to its formidable master.
“Oh, my god that fucking awesome.”
“Yes, yes, good my young apprentice…”
“Sidious?” Oliver asked.
“Yeah, I’ve been watching some star wars lately.”
“Really, I couldn’t tell, is that the reason you brought me here? To live out your fantasy of teaching an apprentice?”
“No… good bye now!”
“What!” Oliver suddenly opened his eyes and saw his subordinates looking at him. “What was I just doing?” He asked.
“Um, you were talking about your bone affinity, did you just have a stroke or some, Fuck?” Said Michael.
“Right, Michael, assemble the EOV, I’m going exploring.” Said Oliver, getting up from his spot on the uncomfortable concrete floor. “And find some chairs for fucks sakes!”
