The compound infiltration

Chapter 13:

Oliver, Reinhard, Aurelian, the gnolls, and the kobold were now making their way up to the surface for sweet vengeance. Oliver sat mounted on Aurelian, Reinhard slowly walking behind, and at the end of the line were the kobald and gnolls. They marched up to the first floor with great haste. Now, they were on the first floor of the dungeon, then after making their way through the maze, Oliver's army finally arrived at the stairs to the surface.

“Stop!” Said Oliver right before the group of minions were about to head up. “You all stay right here, I’m going to go and investigate.”

“My master, please allow me to investigate for you.” Asked Reinhard, the dark priest and an eternally loyal dog to Oliver.

“No, I will go up, besides, I want to test out my invisibility ring.” Oliver held his hand up to the torch to see the ring sitting on ring finger.

“Of course, I’m terribly sorry for my insolence.” Replied Reinhard, who was now lowering his head to Oliver.

“It’s fine, wait here until I call for you.” Said Oliver, petting Aurelian, and beginning to head up the staircase to the surface alone.

“Wait, what if you don’t come back?” Asked Reinhard.

“Tell you what, if I’m not back in five hundred seconds, then I want you all to charge up and slaughter everyone in the camp.” Replied Oliver, once again continuing to walk up the steps.

“Sir.”

Just before the surface was visible to Oliver in the stairs, he focused on his ring of invisibility and his body started to disappear, in three seconds he was visibly invisible. His armor, sword, cape, everything was invisible.

“Amazing.” He thought.

Oliver continued up the stairs, step after step, the nervousness built up in him. Would the ring actually work? Will I be discovered? How long does my invisibility last? All these questions flooded his mind, but if anything bad happened, Oliver could just obliterate his enemies with his magic. However, he might destroy valuables, that would have been unfortunate for him. He was aiming for revenge against McCarthy, but getting some treasures wouldn’t be horrible.

Just before the exit, Oliver heard talking above. Two guys were above and were having a conversion Oliver hadn’t expected to hear again.

“So, tits or ass?” Asked the first guy.

“Wow, that's a difficult question, let me think.” Said the other.

The two guys above were having a conversation that probably didn’t belong in the apocalypse. But it’s only been three or four days since this all began, frankly it impressive that this group is so organized. McCarthy may have been a smart guy, but he was a fool to try and control Oliver. He would never forgive Blaze McCarthy for controlling him.

“If I had to choose between the two, it would have to be tits.” Said the first guy, the second was still thinking.

“Hm, honestly, I’m not sure. I’d pick both, but I couldn’t choose one or the other.” Replied the second guard.

The first guy, annoyed that the second hadn’t answered yet, said “If you had to choose one or the other, which would you choose?”

“Easy, ass all the way.” Said a voice behind them, as the two guards turned around, they saw nothing but the spinning ground. Oliver's flying sword had decapitated them in a second.

Oliver smirked, “That was funny,” he walked past the headless bodies and looked up at the sky. Stars were visible and the moon was bright. A small camp fire was lit beside Oliver and he looked towards the compound, more fires were visible inside the makeshift earth walls.

He approached the compound front gate and holared to open the gate. The guards opened the gate, but saw nobody. Oliver was now inside the compound. “First, that treasury looking place in the center building.” He thought. The building had gotten a much better upgrade from the day before. Now the walls were more like stone bricks than a solid wall of dry mud. “They do work quickly.” He nodded.

Oliver made his way to the center building. Slowly, he weaved through the passing people, being sure to not bump into anyone. After a minute of dodging people carrying all matters of things, from boxes of food to firewood. Now that Oliver was in front of the central building, he made his way inside. The door to the building swung open and everyone looked to see who was entering. There was no one there. One of the guys sitting at a table close by closed the door and Oliver was now in the lion's den.

“Hahaha, what happened then Arnold?” Laughed a guy who looked drunk off of some wine or some drink.

“Then I said, then you better go catch it! Hahahahaha!” Another guy said. Then many more laughing voices were heard. The makeshift bar was in an uproar at the joke.

Oliver walked up to the treasury room, it was quite obvious that the room was the treasury because there were a few guys there. “Why would they put the treasury in the bar?” Thought Oliver. “How do I get past all these people?” Oliver needed a way to distract the guards to leave the door, but what could he possibly use to do that. Then, if Oliver's face wasn’t invisible, you could see the utter stupidity he felt after asking that question. He was in a bar with a bunch of drunk guys, this’ll be easier than art class.

“HEY, ASSHOLE, GO SUCK YOUR MOMS TITS!!” Oliver shouted into the loud room. He was about to die of laughter when one guy turned around and sucker punched a random guy behind him.

“YOU BASTARD!!” He yelled.

After that, a bar fight broke out. It got violent, very violent. The guards just watched for the first bit, but after someone picked up an ax and started swinging it at people randomly, they got involved. Oliver was quite pleased with himself, and proceeded to enter the treasury, making sure to close the door quietly.

Inside, Oliver saw four chests on the ground. Oliver assumed that these people only completed the first floor dungeon twice and took the chests with them, no the collar must have come from the dungeon, so it must have been at least five times.

Oliver opened the first chest and inside was two pouches of valuables. Then the second chest had the healing pendant that was used on him earlier and another pouch of valuables. The third chest had a small black dagger and two small bars of silver. Finally, the fourth chest was a little bit bigger and held a beautiful spear. There was no other item, just the one. Which was unusual because the chests always have two things. But there was something else in the big chest, thankfully the scrolls to the items were in there.

“Well, that's a decent haul, I’m especially happy about this chest, and I thought there wasn’t a second item in the fourth chest, but the second item was the chest.” Oliver whispered laughing at himself. “Okay, now let's put all this stuff inside the large chest.”

Oliver, trying to be quiet, transferred all the items into the magic chest and after everything was inside, he closed the lid and it shrunk to a size that could fit in his pocket. Now that Oliver was much richer, he decided to finally get his revenge. He opened the door to leave the treasury, but what met him was McCarthy smiling and then looking confused.

“I thought you said someone was in here.” He looked over to one of the guards.

“Yes, I definitely heard someone.” Replied the guard.

“Go inside and check.” Said McCarthy.

Oliver was mad, very mad, not only was McCarthy in front of him, but he couldn’t do anything to him. The bar was full of people. In history, numerical advantage always beats raw power. All he could do was think about how useless the Luck stat was.

Just as he was about to attack with his magic and sword, he heard Reinhard yelling.

“Sir, there's a monster inside the compound!” Said a guy running into the bar. He was out of breath and covered in blood.

“What, everyone, get out there and attack!” Shouted McCarthy.

The entire bar emptied, though most of them were still drunk from some sort of red drink. Thanks to Reinhard's sudden appearance, Oliver was able to escape the treasury. Now standing in the empty bar, Oliver was about to run away, but then remembered what he saw when McCarthy captured him. A room, with people inside. Oliver hadn’t seen a single female in the entire camp and was wondering where they all were. This room might answer his question.

Oliver headed up the stairs to this mysterious room, when he got there, he met a single guard standing outside the room. Oliver quickly used an ice spear to knock him out and opened the door.
