Chapter 5 : A Demon

Chapter 5 : A Demon

I immediately squashed that irrational fear and tried to buy some time…

“What kind of service is this!” I yelled channeling my inner Karen “Room prices are overpriced as hell.” I continued, “Do you want to get a beating?”

“Umm grandpa, she is possessed.” said Elizabeth looking confused and fearful at the same time.

“Hush now, I’m trying to buy us some time…” I whispered.

Hissed the demon, exposing her snake-like tongue as she licked her lips, and she spoke.

“Clever tricksssssss won’t work on me” said the demon, revealing her bloodied gums, grinning.

I instantly moved in front of Elizabeth protectively, as the demon fired her finger-like projectiles, attached to her savaged hand even as she grew them back.

Projectiles hit all the bullseye as my stomach ruptured, instantly spilling my guts all over the floor, one of my eyes popped out of its socket, instantly exposing half of my skull, and my lungs collapsed into itself. Half of it was just gone.

Thankfully, none of that hit anything vital. I thought and set out to create distraction.

“Was that all you got?” I croaked, spitting blood and grinning.

“Grandpa!” yelled Elizabeth desperately

I then summoned a smokescreen, cloaking their figure and gave Cerfie a signal.

Cerfie nodded quickly and she grabbed Elizabeth, escaping through the roof.

I quickly got up from the floor and uttered words of power.

[ᛋᚺᚨᛞᛟᚹᛖᛞ ᚷᚱᚨᛋᛈ] as shadows came to life…

And glued the demon to the floor as she tried to move futilely.

Hissed demon as she spoke, rage in her tone

“Useless! You cannot contain me here forever!”

“Nor I don’t plan to” I replied and concentrated on my wounds.

First things first I thought, and put back my guts into my body again.

Then I started to draw metal from my blood as weakness overcame me…

But I succeeded in creating thin metal, enough for stitches, and I got to work.

My stomach split into two from the middle. I thought and used blood magic to get two halves together, then I started to sew with thin metal. It was a rush job though, there was a demon to slay after all.

Then I stitched back my skin as I got up…

Part two…

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Missing lungs… or at least half of it…

It isn’t vital to half-demon like me but it is needed for other functions I thought and set to fix it.

First, I used a Life Drain spell to funnel energy from healthy cells into the dead zones. When it did jack-shit, I then used stem cells in my marrow and started to grow new lungs from scratch as I used a Life Drain spell to accelerate the process.

All the while the demon was taunting me, no doubt trying to distract me…

Part three…

Easiest yet, I thought and plucked the eye of the demon.

Of course, she didn’t look too happy about it as she screamed hatefully.

“You….!”

I muted her with a simple Silence spell and got to work.

First, I purged the eye from demonic influence. It wasn't easy as it tried to control me, but I managed it somehow.

Then I put the eye into my eye socket and started to repair the damage.

First, I regrew new nerves and attached them to the eye. I wasn’t able to see anything from that eye but it wasn't a priority anyway. Then I stretched my skin on the sides of my skull and closed the damage, it left a scar but I will fix it later.

That's when the demon finally escaped from my spell..

“You…..!” screeched the demon, fury in her only eye.

“Die!!!!” said the demon as she charged to me,

Then my shadow split her into two.

She didn't die of course, they are demons. But it put her down for a while.

Since I'm no priest, there was only one way to kill the demon.

‘Complete annihilation…’

I thought, and uttered words of power as space rippled violently.

[ᛞᛁᛋᛁᚾᛏᛖᚷᚱᚨᛏᛖ]!

Purple light washed over the demon and she eventually disintegrated into motes of light.

‘I’m done here’, I thought, intending to look for Elizabeth and walked out of the hotel.

But something was wrong…

The sky was blood-red, rain of hellfire fell from the sky as the ground split and cracked. Demons were spawning from the cracks as they cackled gleely.

‘It was a demon invasion…’ I thought bitterly.

No rest for the wicked...
