Moon to My Earth Part 3
First Morning of the Honeymoon

First Morning of the Honeymoon

On the first enchanting morning of Kate and Merig’s honeymoon, a serene spring day dawns, and rays of sunlight stream through the windows. Merig lays sound asleep, naked under the blanket within the cozy cabin bed, while Kate busies herself downstairs, preparing breakfast. The enticing aroma of her magic culinary efforts wafts through the house, reaching Merig’s nose and stirring him from his deep slumber. Gradually, his eyes flutter open, and he begins to stir awake, shifting in the bed before situating himself upright. A content smile graces Merig’s lips as he tosses the blanket aside and swings his legs to the edge of the bed. He places his goblin feet on the ground, rising slowly and standing up, as he stretches his upper body. Merig then shuffles over to the dresser, where his luggage rests, and searches through it, selecting fresh, comfortable clothes. After selecting a comfortable pair of sleeping trousers and a soft, long-sleeved shirt, Merig dresses himself with ease. With a sense of eager anticipation to surprise Kate, Merig exits the bedroom and proceeds towards the stairs, following the aroma of the delicious food. As he descends the stairs, he glances downward and can’t help but admire his beautiful wife cooking in the kitchen. Merig’s heart fills with love and happiness as he smiles to himself at the sight. Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs, he silently strides into the kitchen and approaches Kate from behind. Her eyes shift to the corners as she glances sideways, silently acknowledging her husband standing behind her. A smile plays on her lips, though she doesn’t turn around and continues cooking. With a loving smile on his face, Merig tenderly places his hands on Kate’s waist and wraps his arms around her torso, pressing his body against hers. He embraces her tightly and brings his face close to hers, resting his chin on her shoulder. As he gazes lovingly at her, Kate feels his warm embrace and gently leans back into him. He then pulls back slightly as their eyes meet, lost in each other’s affectionate gaze, as Merig presses a gentle kiss to her cheek. Merig nuzzles his face against her neck, planting gentle kisses along her skin before moving down to her shoulder. Kate giggles softly, her voice tender and warm, as Merig continues to shower her with love and affection.

(K)Good morning, my husband.

(M)Good morning, my wife.

(K)I figured I'd make breakfast this morning. Are you hungry?

(M)For your cooking? Always, but I'm not just hungry for the food.

(K)[giggles] Maybe after breakfast. How'd you sleep?

(M)Like a log, I could've slept through a hurricane. I'm surprised I didn't wake up when you did.

(K)Yeah, I thought that was strange, too. I tried really hard not to wake you up when I got out of bed, but you were still snoring away by the time I got dressed and walked out of the room.

(M)I guess laying in bed, naked with you after making love to you all night, was really relaxing.

(K)[smiles] You're absolutely right about that. I found myself not wanting to leave your arms. You were so warm.

(M)It's okay, we can do it again tonight if you're up for it.

(K)Don't wear yourself out too much. We still have another six days left on this honeymoon, unless you want to stay longer.

(M)Nah, I told Gordo and Cormac we'd be here for a week, so they'll be back to take us home in six days. We can eat breakfast and do whatever you want today. I'm not worn out just yet.

(K)Okay my love, let's relax for today, then tonight we'll do whatever you want. You can have me all to yourself and have your way with me again if you'd like.

(M)[chuckles] I'd love that very much, and you can have me all to yourself, too.

(K)I'd love that, too. I hope everything is okay back home.

(M)I wouldn’t worry too much, the other goblins should have everything under control.

(K)You’re right, I trust them. I'm almost done with breakfast, my love.

(M)Okay sweetheart, I love you, my beautiful wife.

(K)I love you, too, my wonderful husband.

Kate turns her head as her gaze meets Merig's, and they exchange a tender smile. Merig's lips brush against Kate's in a soft, gentle kiss, filling the air with warmth and affection. Together, they savor a leisurely breakfast, enjoying each other's company. Meanwhile, back in Tara at the training grounds Larry and the other goblins are hard at work. Cormac focuses intently, aiming his crossbow at the targets, honing his precision alongside Barth, who is diligently practicing his elemental spells and snap casting, just as Kate had taught him. Larry busies himself sweeping the training area, ensuring everything is spotless, while Gordo hones his kicking technique against the training dummies, building strength in his legs. As Larry completes his cleaning tasks, he strolls over to the resting area, settling into one of the seats. He sits, lost in thought, and retrieves a small, exquisite jewelry box from his pocket. With a gentle touch, he opens the lid, revealing a stunning sterling silver ring. Two small rubies set side by side to form a heart shape, radiating a deep, crimson glow. Larry's gaze becomes entranced, his thoughts consumed by the ring's beauty, his mind racing as he stares at it and begins to speak to himself.

(L)[sigh] Just six more days until Merig and Kate get back and I can pop the question to Ash.

(G)What’s that you're holding?

Larry's droopy goblin ears twitch with interest at the sound of Gordo's voice, and he glances up to find him breathless and glistening with sweat. Gordo plops down beside Larry, eager for a moment of respite from his intense workout. With a gentle smile, Larry returns his gaze to the engagement ring, ready to share his thoughts with Gordo.

(L)It’s an engagement ring. I'm going to ask Ash to marry me when Kate and Merig get back from their honeymoon, and I'm hoping I don't screw it up. Listen to me, I sound like Merig before he confessed his love for Kate.

(G)How long have you and Ash been together?

(L)As long as Kate and Merig have, about eight months. The night they went on their first date last fall, Ash and I talked and she gave me a chance to be with her. We even kissed that night, and I told her that I'd never break her heart like the guys before me did.

(G)I see, you two seem really happy together and you're always flirting with her. It's kind of funny to watch.

(L)[chuckles] I do that for specific reasons. One, because I love her and because when we first got together, she told me she wanted me to flirt with her all the time since I had stopped before she and I started dating, and she said she missed it when I flirted. So I promised her that I would always flirt with her because I told her that I wanted her to know that I love her, and it lets her know that I still do. It also shows her that I'm keeping my promise to never break her heart.

(G)I just thought flirting was normal for couples to do. I've never been with a woman, so I wouldn't know.

(L)Have you ever thought about finding someone?

(G)It’s crossed my mind, but I'm in no rush. Besides, I’m not sure if a woman would want anything to do with me. I see Kate and Merig's relationship as a rarity. Kate was raised to accept Fomors and coexist with them. I figured her falling for Merig was something of a fairytale.

(L)I see what you mean, but Merig isn’t the only one who captured a woman's heart. Ash was raised that way, too, and she also revealed that she was in love with me for a long time, way before Kate even moved to Tara.

(G)Right, I'm just saying, the fact that they actually got married is what I mean.

(L)It’s fine, I'm just hoping Ash will say "yes". I've thought about what I want to say to her. I love her and I want to be with her forever.

(G)I have a feeling she'll say "yes". I can tell she loves you, especially when you two flirt with each other. Wait…do you two even live together yet?

(L)[sigh] Not yet. She's been hesitant when I ask her to move in with me. That's kind of what makes me think she'll reject me if I propose. She'll come over to my place some nights, but she's never talked about living with me. I want to ask her about it after I propose.

(G)Go for it. You've been together this long. I don't see why she wouldn't. You got this, buddy.

(L)Thanks, Gordo, I need all the optimism I can get.

Larry and Gordo are deep in conversation, while nearby, Barth continues practicing his spellcasting skills, consistently nailing the bullseye with impressive accuracy. Next to him, Cormac is busy with his crossbow, hitting various spots on the target but rarely landing a perfect shot. As he struggles to reload a bolt, he raises the crossbow to take aim, only to suddenly cry out in pain. He quickly lowers the weapon, clutching his chest and wincing in discomfort. Barth, noticing the commotion, immediately halts his practice and rushes over to Cormac, swiftly taking the crossbow from his hands.

(B)I think that's enough target practice for today.

(C)I'm fine, I can keep going.

(B)Obviously not, Cormac, it wasn't that long ago when you got shot and almost died.

(C)I thought I was fully recovered, though, but the muscles in my shoulder still hurt sometimes. It's been more than six weeks since it happened, so I shouldn't be in pain anymore.

(B)That's because your stubborn ass decided you weren’t going to stay at home and recover. This is only your first day of training and before this, you wanted to go into the forest and train yourself not even three weeks into your recovery, so that slowed down your healing. We told you to stay at home and you had all the time in the world to recover and then start training. But you didn't listen, even though Nessa told you to rest for longer than two weeks. You should probably take some more time so you can fully heal.

(C)[sigh] You're right, I was just so eager. I guess I didn't think about it. I just wanted to come and start training here rather than in the forest, since Merig isn’t here to help me.

(B)Merig put Larry and me in charge while he and Kate are on their honeymoon. Besides, you need to go home and finish recovering. Even Merig told you that when you insisted on starting your training after the wedding.

(C)[sigh] Alright fine, I'll go to Nessa and see if she can help me. She might yell at me for not listening, but I guess that's what I get.

(B)Just go to the resting area, then we can go to the pub and relax. Come on, we're done training for the day.

Barth grabs onto Cormac, who relies on him for support as they navigate toward the resting area, where Larry and Gordo remain engaged in conversation. As they draw near, Larry and Gordo's discussion comes to a halt, their attention shifting to the pair with concern. As they approach, Barth carefully selects a seat and guides Cormac to it. Barth's movements are deliberate and gentle as he eases Cormac into the seat. With a final push of effort, Cormac settles into the seat, his exhaustion and pain evident. Barth takes the seat next to him, his eyes fixed on Cormac's weary face. Larry's expression turns to one of concern as he focuses on Cormac, speaking to him with a worried tone.

(L)You okay, Cormac?

(B)No, he's not okay. He's still in pain because he decided he wasn't going to let himself rest and fully recover as Nessa told him to, and now he's paying for it.

(L)[sigh] I know it’s only the first day at the training grounds, but you've been doing your own training in the forest. As the acting commander, you’re done for a while, Cormac, you're going home so you can heal better. You're only making your pain worse by slowing down your recovery time by doing strenuous activities. Merig has been telling you the same thing and told you not to start your guard training here until you’re fully recovered.

(G)You're only hurting yourself, Cormac, and forcing yourself to train is a good way for you to end up back at the healer for another few weeks. You have to take it easy and let your body heal itself.

(C)Alright, alright I get it, okay? I'll stop and I won’t train until I'm recovered. It's just so boring and lonely at home. I need to get out and do something.

(L)You don't have to be cooped up at home, just don't do any guard training. You can come to hang out at the pub with us every day if you want to, but you need to rest for a portion of the day.

(C)Fine, I'll do that. I'm sorry, guys. I just didn't want to seem like I was lazy. I've also been going through something that I can't seem to fight.

(B)Tell us what's going on.

(C)Ever since that day, I've been questioning whether I should even be alive or not. I still haven't forgiven myself for the horrible things I did and I thought death was the best thing for me. But you guys saved my life and since then, I just can't stop thinking about what would've happened if I didn't make it and I died before I got to the healer.

(L)It's normal to feel that way, Cormac. Barth and Sarah got you to the healer, and you survived because none of us wanted you to die, no matter what you've done in the past. Kate was right. We don't hate you, we just hate what you did, and death wasn't your punishment because we didn't want it to be.

(G)He's right, Cormac, you've atoned for your sins just like I did and you've been forgiven. Embrace it and the fact that you're alive. Don't think too much about the "what ifs" and focus on the future.

(B)I couldn't have said it better, Gordo. You need to work on forgiving yourself. That doesn't mean that you should forgive what you did because you already know what you did was wrong and you realized that. You're back to the old Cormac and that's all we wanted. Now you just have to move on and continue living life and learn from your past and never do it again. That's what it means to forgive yourself. We all forgave you and we moved on and everything is normal again. If we can do it, so can you.

Cormac's gaze sweeps across the faces of the other goblins as he listens intently to their words. His eyes then narrow as he focuses his attention on the ground, lost in thought. A moment passes as he processes their words, his expression contemplative. Finally, a soft smile creeps across his face as he nods in agreement, ready to speak.

(C)You're absolutely right and I'm an idiot. I do need to forgive myself and I'm going to work on it starting now.

(L)Good, why don't we all go to the pub and have some lunch?

(G)Sounds good to me.

(B)Absolutely, I'm hungry.

(C)Alright let's go, then I'll go home and rest more.

(B)Good idea, let's go eat something.

The goblins rise from the resting area and head towards the exit, leaving the training grounds. They make their way to the pub, their stomachs rumbling in anticipation of lunch. Upon entering, they spot Ashley seated at their usual table. A wide sultry grin spreads across Larry’s face as he eagerly strides towards her, the other goblins following in his wake. Circling the table, Larry smoothly slides into the seat beside Ashley, his arm wrapping around her shoulders. Ashley gazes at him with a smile, her eyes sparkling with affection. Larry gently cups her cheek, his thumb tracing the contours of her face before gently lifting her chin. A tender smile plays on his lips as he leans in for a soft kiss. As they break apart, Larry's voice takes on its signature sweet, flirtatious tone, making Ashley's heart skip a beat. The other goblins settle into their seats, content to watch the tender moment unfold.

(L)Good Afternoon, beautiful, fancy meeting you here. We've got to stop meeting like this, or the love of my life will find out about you.

(A)[smiles] Oh yeah? Is that so?

(L)Yeah, she looks a lot like you. She could be your twin.

(A)[giggles] Well, let's hope she never finds out about us, because you're mine.

(L)Oh, I'm all yours, sweetheart. No other woman can ever stop me from being with you. I love you, my red-hot flame.

(A)I love you, too, sweetheart.

(B)Oh, get a room.[smirk]

(L)[glare] You shut your face, you always talk shit about my flirting.

(B)Oh please, you flirt with Ash all the time. I'm not stopping you. You just always get offended when I say anything to joke around.

(L)Hey, you’re just jealous, Barth.

(B)What? You're crazy, I'm not jealous.

(L)Bullshit, I know for a fact that you have a thing for Sarah and you've been trying really hard to get her attention ever since she healed you after that fight with the bandits.

(B)...I have no idea what you're talking about.

(L)Oh, whatever, we all hear you nonchalantly flirting with her every time she's around, Barth.

(B)[glare] I don't believe that's any of your business.

(L)Then shut up and let me flirt with my woman. I have rights, damnit!

(B)Yeah, you have the right to kiss my goblin ass.[smirk]

(L)Don't make me come over there.

(A)Stop it, you two, you sound like children.

(G)Yeah, you sound like a bitter old married couple. You both used to bicker like this back at the camp, and it was annoying as hell.

(C)It was funny to watch sometimes, though. Especially when they'd throw things at each other. Or when Barth would throw his spells at Larry when he talked shit and Larry would scream like a little girl.

(B)[smile] Yeah, good times, right Larry?

(L)[mocking voice] Haha good times, right Larry?[glare] Shut your damn face.

(A)[giggles] These two are best friends, alright, you'd think they were brothers as much as they bicker.

(L)Well, we may be best friends, but at least your brother is nicer to me…asshole.

(B)[smiles] Oh, come on, Larry, you know you love me. I'm the fun brother.

(L)Hey, don't try to butter me up. I love you and you may be the oldest, but Merig is my main Flynn.

(B)How dare you, I'm heartbroken, Larry.

The group bursts into laughter, enjoying the playful exchange between the two as their conversation flows. Moments later, a woman with fair skin and short, wavy platinum blonde hair enters the pub, dressed in an adorable purple spring dress. She scans the room, seemingly on the lookout for someone special. After a brief stroll around the pub, her eyes light up as she spots the group at the table. With a warm smile, she makes her way over to them. As she draws near, she positions herself beside Cormac and greets him with a gentle, cheerful voice.

(DD)Hey Cormac, I found you.

The conversation among the group ceases as they direct their focus towards the woman. Cormac, his droopy ears perking slightly, shifts his gaze to his left and upward to the woman standing beside him. His eyes grow wide with recognition, and with a jolt, he springs from his seat to face her directly. He gazes down at her, offering a gentle and somewhat anxious smile as he addresses her, his voice tinged with excitement.

(C)Deirdre?

(DD)[smiles] Hey, you remembered my name.

(C)Of course, I remember. You told me your name when we danced at the wedding reception. It was a lot of fun.

(DD)[giggles] Yeah, it was. I had such a great time with you, even though you said your shoulder was still healing from what you told me happened to you. I wanted to come by and see how you were doing, and you told me to come here to find you if I ever wanted to see you again. So here I am. I guess I was lucky that you were here.

(C)[chuckles] Yeah, I guess so. It's good to see you again, Deirdre. I’m still recovering, sadly, so I can’t do much.

(DD)It's good to see you again as well, Cormac. I'm sorry to hear that you’re still in pain. Is there anything I can do?

(C)Don’t worry about me, it’s practically my fault that I’m still hurting. I’ve been neglecting myself since I got hurt and I haven’t rested much.

(DD)You shouldn’t do that to yourself, Cormac, you should take it easy until you’re healed.

(C)[chuckles] Yeah, I kind of promised these guys I’d do that from now on. I appreciate you coming here to check on me. How are you doing?

(DD)I’m doing wonderful. I actually came here to see if you were busy tonight.

(C)Not that I know of, probably just going home and resting. Why is something wrong?

(DD)[smiles] No, everything is fine. I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to have dinner with me tonight.

(C)Oh, uh, that sounds really fun, but uh.

Cormac falls quiet, lost in thought as he contemplates his next words. He understands that he needs to return home to rest, and the prospect of accepting Deirdre's invitation for a date feels increasingly out of reach. A wave of reflection washes over him, bringing to light the shadows of his troubled past. The weight of his past fills him with shame, and he feels a deep reluctance to share this part of himself with her. A frown creases his brow as he gazes down at Deirdre, his eyes clouded with discouragement before he finally gathers the courage to speak.

(C)[sigh] I'm really sorry, Deirdre, as much as I'd like to, I can't. I need to recover and I’m still going through some things that are hard to explain.

Deirdre's radiant smile suddenly collapses, plunging into a deep, disheartening frown. Her eyes narrow and drop to the floor, as if weighed down by the crushing force of disappointment. Her gaze lingers there for a moment, before slowly, reluctantly rising to meet Cormac's, her voice barely above a whisper as she speaks in a low, gloomy tone, heavy with disappointment.

(DD)Oh I see, I'm sorry, you should go home and get some rest then. I guess I'll see you around, maybe another time?

(C)Actually, I'm not really sure if that's such a good idea. It's a really long story and if I told you, I'm not sure it would end well for me.

(DD)…Oh, I understand…I hope you recover well, then…goodbye, Cormac.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

(C)Deirdre, wait.

Deirdre's face crumples in despair as she turns away and strides away from the table, her footsteps heavy with despair. Tears well up in her eyes, streaming down her cheeks as she flees the pub, leaving behind a trail of uncomfortable silence. Cormac stands stunned and frozen, his eyes wide with shock, as the rest of the group's jaws drop in unison, their faces etched with a mix of surprise and accusation. Cormac slowly turns to face them, as Larry's frantic voice pierces the air, demanding answers.

(L)Cormac…What the hell just happened? Why did you reject her?

(B)Wow, I'm sure that was a knife to her heart.

(A)Oh poor Deirdre.

(G)I think you made her cry.

(C)[sigh] Listen, I know I'm an idiot, but I have my reasons. I promised I'd rest. I'm still in pain and I can't do certain things. Besides, I'm not exactly sure she'd want anything to do with me if she knew about my past.

(L)Did we not just talk about this at the training grounds, Cormac? We said you didn't need to do any physically taxing activities. Going on a date isn't physically taxing. And you're working to forgive yourself, remember?

(C)But it doesn't erase what I did, remember? I’m working on forgiving myself, I haven’t yet. Listen, I don't think I deserve love or happiness with a woman. If Deirdre knew who I was in the past and what I did, she'd probably think I was a monster and wouldn't want anything to do with me.

(B)Cormac, that's not true. You deserve happiness and love.

(C)That’s easy for you to say, Barth. You, Merig, and Larry never did anything to hurt people. I did and I'm the one still struggling to come to terms with the horrible shit that I did. Every time I look at myself in the mirror, I don't see the old me that you guys knew. I see the monster that I became. Yeah, I'm working to forgive myself, but what if Deirdre ever found out about my past? She'd hate me, and she'd never want to see me again. You would have no problem if Sarah ever agreed to be with you, Barth, because you don't have that past hanging over you. The only other person here who would probably struggle to find love is Gordo.

(G)That may be true, but even I would still try to find happiness and love. If a woman doesn't love me because of my past, I'll find a woman who can look past it. You never know, Cormac, Deirdre could look past it and still love you for the person that you are now. But at the same time, I can see where you're coming from. I'd struggle to feel worthy of a woman's love, too.

(C)I don’t think I want to take a chance at getting my heart torn out of my chest. It's already in pain as it is and it would hurt too much. Deirdre is a lovely woman, and I’ve been interested in getting to know her more. But I made the mistake of even suggesting that a woman would want to be with me. I'm better off being alone.

(A)So you'd break Deirdre’s heart to save your own. She really seemed interested in you, Cormac, and she was very happy to see you. I understand where you're coming from, but you should’ve given her a chance, at the very least. Don't make the same mistake I did. I rejected Larry because of my painful past, too. I never did horrible things, but I still have pain from men who hurt me, and I broke Larry’s heart for the sake of my own. Don't do that to Deirdre. I know her and she’s a really sweet person.

(B)Yeah, you should have just gone out on a date with her. I think you should go find her and apologize.

(C)Even if I tried looking for her, I probably wouldn't even find her. I don't even know where she lives, or where she goes to hang out. I guess you guys just don't see it from my perspective. But it's fine, I'll just go home, my shoulder and chest are in pain.

(G)I guess we don't see it from your perspective, Cormac. You talk as if I didn't hurt people, too. Like you said, you wouldn't be the only one who would struggle to find love, but you're not even willing to try, are you? You'll change your ways and come to the city, like I did, and ask everyone for forgiveness, and you'll try to forgive yourself for what you did. But you won't even try to be happy and make someone else happy. You hate yourself and you can't live with yourself for the shit that you did and even contemplate taking your own life and wishing you had died that day you got shot. I struggled with all of that, too, and I even shed tears in the presence of the person who I hurt and you know what she did? She dried my tears, hugged me, and told me that I was a friend and that she had forgiven me a long time ago. I forgave myself that day and while I do still struggle to forget what I did, I forgave myself for doing it. You need to do the same and start over. Remember what we all said to you at the healer that day you almost died and let it sink in. Deirdre doesn't even have to know your past, but you'll probably have guilt weighing on you, so it's best that you tell her. But it doesn't matter anymore, just go home and get some rest. You need it.

(C)I'm sorry, you're right, life is about taking chances and I had the chance to make things right and I did it. Now things are better and I feel better and I can live a normal life again. I'll never forget what you all said to me that day at the healer. But these whispering voices that remind me of what I did, just won't shut up.[sigh] I'm so tired, I'm going to go home and sleep.

(L)Alright, buddy, we'll see you later. Go get some rest.

Cormac bids farewell, then turns on his heel and strides away from the table, heading toward the door. As he pushes through the entrance of the pub, he steps into the cold winter air and scans the surroundings, hoping to catch a glimpse of Deirdre. Disappointment washes over him, she is nowhere to be found in the crowds of other citizens. With a heavy heart, Cormac turns and begins his journey home, leaving the pub behind. Inside, the group continues their conversation, discussing what had just taken place.

(A)Well, that was heartbreaking to see. I feel really bad for Deirdre. But I also kind of understand where Cormac is coming from.

(L)[sigh] He seems to be very indecisive. We were just at the training grounds talking about Cormac forgiving himself. Now he's like this when good things happen to him and he screws it up.

(G)I understand where he's coming from, too. I'd want to find love, but I'd also struggle with the guilt of my past. If any woman who didn't know me found out what I did to Kate, they would probably be terrified of me, even though I'm not that person anymore.

(B)I may not understand the struggle, but I do still worry about Sarah rejecting me if I ever told her how I felt. She already knows I used to be a bandit, but she also knows I didn't do anything horrible to people. But like Merig, I'm afraid she won't want anything to do with a goblin.

(L)Hey, don't think like that, Barth, don't make the same mistake your brother did and wait a whole year to tell Sarah how you feel and chicken out every time you try. Better late than never. Even so, you still have to shoot your shot, even if you get rejected. Look at what happened to me. I tried so many times to ask Ash out, and she rejected me. But I kept trying every once in a while because I didn't want to seem desperate. But after a few years of flirting and trying to win her heart, Ash finally said yes and now look where we are. She loved my flirting so much that she made me promise to do it every day, and that's why I do it.

(B)I had no idea, Larry, I'm sorry. You may be right. I have to take that chance and at least try. Maybe I'll ask Sarah on a date or something, that couldn't hurt, right?

(L)That's the spirit. You have more of a spine than Merig did before he and Kate got together.

(B)Sadly I'll still struggle with my self-worth like Merig did. It's something I'll need to work on.

(L)If Merig can charm a woman, then so can you. You just have to have the confidence and the balls to not chicken out.

(B)Hey, don't talk shit about my balls. I can charm Sarah easily. Maybe I'll do something nice for her. Hey Ash, do you happen to know Sarah's favorite flower?

(A)You’re in luck. As a matter of fact, I do. She absolutely loves periwinkles. I'm pretty sure this is the season for them, so you might want to go to Silvia's shop and get some.

(B)Thanks for the info, I'll definitely do that. She might be working at the healer today. I'm sure she'd appreciate a visit and some flowers.

(A)Aww, that's really sweet of you, Barth. I'm sure Sarah will love that.

(B)Well then, time to go make Sarah’s day and attempt to win her heart.

(L)You got this, pal, I believe in you.

(B)Thanks, buddy, I’ll see you all later.

(L)See ya, good luck.

(A)Later, Barth.

(G)Go get her, Barth.

Barth rises from his seat, a self-assured smile spreading across his face as he bids the group farewell. With a confident stride, he makes his way to the exit, the door swinging open and shutting behind him as he steps out into the bright winter sunlight. His destination is Silvia's charming flower shop, where he intends to procure a bouquet of periwinkles to surprise Sarah at the healer. Meanwhile, at the healer, Sarah is deeply engrossed in her work, meticulously brewing pain-reducing potions that will bring comfort to those in need. Nearby, Nessa is busy tidying up the beds, her broom swooshing across the floor in smooth, rhythmic strokes. As Sarah finishes her potions, she sets them aside within easy reach, ready to be dispensed to patients as required.

(S)There, I’ve finished making my pain-reducing potions, Miss Nessa.

(N)Wonderful, Sarah, thank you so much. Ever since you came here to help me, your potions have been a blessing. You’ll have to show me how to make them sometime, so I’m not always relying on you when we run out.

(S)Oh, I don’t mind at all, it’s a very easy recipe so anyone can make them. But I’ll be happy to teach you and give you the recipe so you can make them when I’m not here.

(N)I would be delighted, Sarah, that would be a big help, thank you.

(S)Of course, Miss Nessa, anything I can do to make your job easier, as well as mine.

(N)By the way, Kate and Merig are on their honeymoon, aren’t they?

(S)That’s right, they’ll be spending an entire week together alone in the middle of the forest on a lake. It’s so romantic, isn’t it?

(N)Very much so, I’m so happy about their marriage, the wedding was absolutely gorgeous, and I was more than happy to attend. You were a bridesmaid, right?

(S)I sure was, and I had the time of my life being a part of Kate’s wedding. She and Merig are so happy together, and their vows at the wedding were just so sweet and heartwarming. I had a wonderful time being a witness to it and had a blast at the reception.

(N)I did, too, it was so lively and cheerful. Kate was just happy-go-lucky and there was nothing anyone could do to ruin her happiness, as well as Merig’s. He loves that woman more than life itself, and I’m sure he’s in heaven right now on their honeymoon.

(S)Oh, I don’t doubt that one bit, life is perfect for them at this very moment.

(N)Indeed, it is. Also, don’t think I didn’t see you and Barth dancing at the reception. You two looked like you were having fun.

(S)[smiles] Oh yeah, we definitely had a good time dancing together. Granted, I wasn’t very good at it, but Barth was really patient with me and he led the dances the whole time and he pretty much taught me how to dance. It didn’t take long until I got the hang of it and it was so fun.

(N)Has Barth taken you out on a date, yet?

(S)[blush] Oh uh n-n-no h-h-he hasn’t, he hasn’t really asked me.

(N)[giggles] Take a deep breath, sweetheart. Your face is beet red. But he does seem interested in you with the way he talks to you.

(S)[sigh] I’m sorry, your question just caught me off guard. Barth is just a really sweet person, and he was thankful that I healed him after that battle with the bandits.

(N)He really appreciates that you saved his life and you’re a beautiful woman. I wouldn’t be surprised if he fell for you.

(S)[blush] Why thank you, Miss Nessa, but I doubt Barth thinks of me in that way. Although, I have noticed he’s been flirting with me ever since that day, so it’s not entirely impossible.

(N)Oh, it’s blatantly obvious that he’s flirting with you and if he’s doing that, then he definitely thinks of you that way.

(S)Maybe, but he hasn’t said anything to me, so I’m not entirely sure.

(N)Maybe he’s just as shy as you, I’m sure one of these days he will confess. What about you? Do you think of him that way?

(S)I think so, I get this feeling in my stomach when I see him and when he talks to me and says sweet things to me. And I can’t help but smile when he does, especially if I’m not feeling my best. Sometimes I think about Barth and the things that he has said to me and it sticks with me. So when I’m not around him and I’m having a bad day, I just think about his words and I’m happy again. I also find myself wanting to see him each day and I’m very happy when I do.

(N)[smiles] That’s love, my dear Sarah. You want to see him every day. He gives you butterflies, and you think about him along with his kind words. That’s how it all starts.

(S)It makes sense, but I’m not sure if he feels that way. Maybe he does, and he’s just too nervous to tell me. I’m sure he’ll tell me in his own way if he does.

(N)All you can do is wait. Maybe Barth will do something nice for you.

(S)I don’t expect it, but it’s possible and I would appreciate it if he decided to. I’m just happy that he healed well after the battle, but I can’t say the same for Cormac.

(N)[sigh] I know what you mean, Cormac didn’t exactly listen to me after he spent a week here and now he’s not doing so well. That goblin is a stubborn one. He promised he would rest until he recovered, but from what Barth told me, he insisted on doing physical activities almost a month after he was brought here. I told him that wasn’t enough time, and that he needed more rest.

(S)I know, even I’ve told him he shouldn’t do anything strenuous, but of course, my advice fell on deaf ears as well. He wouldn’t even accept my pain-reducing potions when I knew he needed them. But he said he didn’t want to rely on them and that he’d endure the pain. I just hope he finally listens to our advice and rests like he should be doing.

(N)Unfortunately, all we can do is give advice, it’s part of our job. Whether our patients take that advice is completely up to their discretion. I’ve learned that lesson as a healer and sadly, not everyone follows the doctor’s orders.

(S)I guess you’re right, we can only do so much. But Cormac almost died, so you’d think he would listen to us and not cause any more harm to himself.

(N)You’d think, but even people who aren’t so lucky and are on their deathbed don’t listen to advice. That’s the downside to being a healer. You can’t control stubborn people.

(S)I guess I have a lot more to learn as a healer than I thought.

(N)That’s okay, you’re already an amazing healer, Sarah. Give yourself more credit and don’t sell yourself short.

(S)[smiles] Thank you, Miss Nessa, I do my best.

The women's conversation continues when they suddenly hear the door open moments later. Barth enters, his tall figure filling the doorway, prompting Sarah and Nessa to turn their heads in unison, directing their focus on him. He's holding something concealed behind his back, an excited glint in his eye. Barth and Sarah's gazes lock and a warm smile is shared between them. Barth closes the door behind him and strides purposefully towards Sarah, his demeanor brimming with anticipation. As he approaches, he offers her a greeting, his voice filled with warmth.

(B)Hey, Sarah, I figured you’d be here. I’m sorry if I’m bothering you.

(S)Hey, Barth, what a pleasant surprise. You’re not bothering me at all. We were just talking about you and how well you’ve healed since the battle.

(B)Oh yeah, I’ve been doing much better since my arm got slashed up. All thanks to you though, Sarah.

(S)Like I said, I was just doing my job. Speaking of which, do you mind if I take a look at your arm? I want to see how well it’s healed.

(B)Of course, but first, here, these are for you.

Barth's arm emerges from behind his back, revealing a stunning bouquet of periwinkles, their delicate blue petals swaying gently. He offers them to Sarah, whose expression transforms into one of astonishment, quickly blossoming into a radiant smile as she gazes up at him. Nessa mirrors Sarah's shock, and the two women exchange a fleeting glance before Sarah turns her attention back to Barth. Sarah's gaze meets Barth's and they share a moment of pure connection, the air thick with affection. Sarah gently takes the bouquet from Barth, her voice filled with surprise as she responds.

(S)Oh my goodness, Barth, are these periwinkles?

(B)They sure are, do you like them?

(S)Oh, I absolutely love them, they’re my favorite flower. Thank you so much. I was not expecting this. That’s so sweet of you to come all this way to bring me flowers.

(B)Well, I never really got the chance to properly thank you for saving my life. I know this isn’t much, but I at least wanted to do something for you. Trust me, I’m sure these boring old flowers aren’t enough compared to what you did for me.

(S)Don’t say that, Barth, you went out of your way to get these and came all this way to bring them to me. That’s very thoughtful of you and I really appreciate it. You’ve made my entire day. These flowers are more than enough, thank you.

(B)Of course, I’m glad you like them. I promise this won’t be my only way of thanking you.

(S)Please don’t feel obligated to go out of your way to do things for me. You don’t owe me anything. Now come on, let’s see that arm, but first I owe you a hug for these flowers.

Sarah tenderly sets the periwinkles on her desk, their delicate petals seeming to glow in the soft light. She turns back to Barth, her arms open wide in invitation. Barth responds in kind as they embrace each other in a warm, heartfelt hug. As they pull away, Sarah guides Barth to a nearby bed, her hand on his back. Barth takes a seat as Sarah positions herself on his right side, turning to inspect his right arm, where a sword had left its mark during the battle with the bandits. With a gentle touch, Sarah rolls up Barth's sleeve, exposing the four-inch scar on his bicep. She begins to study the scar, her fingers gliding over the surface as she assesses its healing progress.

(B)So how is it looking, doc?

(S)[smiles] It’s looking so much better. I see you’ve been taking good care of it.

(B)Well, I can't take all the credit. Besides, I followed the doctor's orders, unlike Cormac.

(S)Nessa and I were just talking about him, too, before you came in. Is he still being stubborn and not resting?

(B)Yeah he is, I had to stop him from hurting himself at the training grounds earlier. He couldn't even hold up a crossbow without being in pain, so I took it from him and Larry and I made him stop. We went to the pub for a bit after we left the training grounds and then we told him to go home, so he left to go home and rest.

(S)[sigh] Cormac is seriously going to hurt himself if he keeps this up. We spent all that time and effort to save his life. I don’t want it to be in vain. If he doesn’t rest, it will affect him in the long run.

(B)That’s pretty much what we all told him, but he said he’s been battling with himself mentally. He’s convinced that he should’ve died that day and that he deserved it for his past misdeeds. Cormac still hasn’t forgiven himself, even though Kate did and so did everyone else. I’m not sure what to do to help him. Cormac is my friend, and I forgave him, too, and I want to help him understand that. He said that when he looks at himself in the mirror, he just sees the monster that he became and not the old Cormac that he used to be. He even turned a woman down when she asked him out to dinner.

(S)Wait, what? Who asked him to dinner?

(B)A woman named Deirdre who he danced with at Kate and Merig’s wedding reception.

(S)Oh, I know her, she's so pretty

(B)Yeah, she came into the pub and walked up to him at our table and they were really happy to see each other. She didn’t sugarcoat it at all. She outright asked Cormac if he wanted to join her for dinner this evening. Cormac rejected her and told her that it wasn’t a good idea for them to be involved at all. Deirdre left the pub in tears and Cormac left not long after. After that, I left to go to the flower shop and came here.

(S)Poor Deirdre, she’s such a sweetheart, that must’ve been humiliating for her. I do understand Cormac’s plight, but at the same time, he shouldn’t feel that way about himself. But I have no idea what he’s going through, so I can’t judge him too harshly. I do feel sorry for Deirdre, though, Cormac should’ve at least given her a chance.

(B)That’s what we all told him. Ashley even scolded him pretty good, and he did feel bad for it afterward. I want to help him get through this. He doesn’t think he deserves love or happiness because of what he’s done in the past. He really feels remorse and guilt for everything and I can tell when he talks about it.

(S)Some people don’t deserve happiness if they continue being horrible people. But Cormac atoned for what he did and he’s not that person anymore. It seems like he has a really good heart, especially if he has all of that guilt weighing on him.

(B)Something terrible happened in Cormac’s past, as you know. I can understand the pain from that, and it consumed him and made him do crazy things. He became a completely different person when he became the leader of the bandit camp we were in. I still cared for Cormac, but that doesn’t mean I agree with the things that he did. I’m glad he finally got a wake-up call. I just wish it didn’t involve one of us dying just for him to open his eyes to his evil ways. I’m glad my brother is alive and now he and Kate are married and happy while enjoying their honeymoon.

(S)I agree that what happened to him was awful and the man that did that to him should face consequences. But the pain it caused Cormac made him a monster just the same as that man. I’m with you on wanting to help him understand that he’s not that person anymore. He deserves happiness and love despite all of that because he finally saw what he was doing wasn’t right. But he clearly doesn’t see it that way. I wish he did.

(B)I do, too, but there’s just no reasoning with Cormac about it. All we can do is keep supporting him and be there for him when he needs us. But if I have to, I’ll knock some sense into him like I did when he got shot.

(S)Cormac said he still feels guilt for what happened to Merig and for threatening Kate’s life. But Merig is alive again, and that’s all that mattered to Kate and she forgave Cormac when he almost died protecting her parents.

(B)I know, but we’ve tried telling him that. I just hope he can forgive himself since he’s doing better things. He deserves to be happy, especially with someone who loves him. Although, he did worry about Deirdre finding out about his past and he was afraid that she would want nothing to do with him if she knew.

(S)[sigh] I can see how that would be a complicated situation. On the other hand, I agree that he deserves a fresh start. He’s a better person, and no one is holding his past against him, and neither should he.

(B)Unfortunately, we can’t get that through his head. But I see your point about the situation with Deirdre being complicated. All we can do is keep telling him to keep his chin up and that we are here for him.

(S)I agree, there’s only so much we can do to get through to him. Let’s just hope he doesn’t do anything to hurt himself or worse.

(B)I hope so, too, but for now, let’s remain optimistic. Also, I should probably get going. I don’t want to continue taking up your time. I’m sure you have work to do.

(S)It’s no problem at all, you're still my patient as well as a friend. Technically, I am doing my work by checking your arm to see how it’s healed.

(N)She’s got a point, Barth, you forget you were hurt in that battle, too. We just want to make sure you’re doing well since you’ve been recovering.

(B)[chuckles] I guess you’re right. Thank you for giving me a checkup, Sarah. I’m doing a lot better thanks to you and I even did some more magic training today.

(S)Good, just take it easy and don’t do anything too strenuous. And thank you for the beautiful flowers again, I very much appreciate it.

(B)Anytime, I’ll see you later, then.

(S)Of course, see you later, Barth.

(B)See you later, Nessa.

(N)You take care, Barth.

Barth gives a subtle nod to Nessa, then turns his gaze back to Sarah, where a gentle smile passes between them. As Sarah carefully unrolls and straightens Barth's sleeve, they embrace once more, warmth radiating between them. Rising from the bed, Barth strides toward the door, stepping out into the world beyond. Sarah, still seated, exchanges a wide-eyed glance with Nessa, both of them momentarily frozen in surprise, their eyebrows arched in disbelief.

(S)Okay, I was not expecting that.

(N)See? I told you he might do something nice for you, and those flowers are just the beginning.

(S)[blush] I don’t know. Barth said he was just thanking me for treating him. Do you think there’s a hidden meaning behind it?

(N)It’s very possible, but I guess you’ll find out as time goes on. Maybe next he’ll ask you on a date.[wink]

(S)Oh, Nessa, you’re silly. I’m going to get back to work, but first I want to put those flowers in some water so they don’t wilt.

(N)Alright, then, there are some herbs we’ve run out of and sadly, Kate isn’t here for me to ask her to go foraging.

(S)Don’t worry, Nessa, I’ll go to the market. It’s no big deal.

(N)Or you could ask Barth to go foraging with you.

(S)I’m sure he has better things to do. I won’t be long.

(N)Well okay, I’ll see you when you get back.

Sarah strides toward the exit of the building, but pauses, turning and glancing back at her workstation. She is drawn to the bouquet of periwinkles Barth brought her and warmly smiles to herself. She walks over to her desk and picks up the bouquet, her fingers brushing against the delicate petals as she selects a single flower. She sets the bouquet back down and holds up the single periwinkle to her nose, inhaling the sweet fragrance, her eyes closing as a soft smile plays on her lips. As she opens her eyes, Sarah pulls it away from her nose and gently breaks the stem, shortening the periwinkle. She then tucks it into her lush, black, curly hair, with the blue petals peeking out. Sarah turns to Nessa who watches, a warm smile spreading across her face as she nods in approval.

(N)You look beautiful.

(S)[smiles] Thank you, I’ll be back with those herbs.

(N)Alright, be safe.

(S)I will.

Sarah pivots gracefully and strides toward the exit, stepping out of the building with purpose as she heads to the market to gather fresh herbs for potions. Later that evening, darkness envelops Larry's home, and Ashley accepts his invitation to spend the night with him once again. The two are in Larry's bed, their bodies entwined in an intimate dance, moving in perfect harmony as they make love. Larry is on top of Ashley with her legs and arms wrapped around him, his muscular arms holding her tightly as he guides them both to ecstasy. Breathing heavily and flushed with passion, they finally finish, the two gaze at each other with deep satisfaction and lust in their eyes. Larry leans down to kiss Ashley tenderly before collapsing onto the sheets and rolling onto his back. They lie there, breathing heavily, skin still sweaty and tingling from their lovemaking. Ashley rolls over and snuggles up against Larry, feeling safe and content in his embrace as he wraps his arm around her delicate body. She rests her head and arm on his chest, her bare skin pressed against his as they bask in the afterglow. Gazing at each other with adoration, Larry gently caresses Ashley's cheek with his other hand, as he speaks sweet words to her in his seductive voice that sends shivers down her spine.

(L)Amazing as always, my beautiful red-hot flame.

(A)Not as amazing as you, my love. I almost don’t want you to stop.

(L)Oh trust me, I’m not tired yet. I just figured we could take a quick breather and then I want to make love to you all night.

(A)[smiles] I wouldn’t say no to that. But while we’re resting, I wanted to talk to you about something.

(L)Sure, you can talk to me about anything, sweetheart.

(A)Well, I’ve been thinking about something lately. As you know, I come here almost every night and then I go home to change into fresh clothes in the morning and then go do my guard work. After that, I go to the pub and then come back here with you and spend the night with you again. It’s just a never-ending cycle, so I’m rarely home at my place.

(L)[smiles] Okay, I see where this is going.

(A)[smiles] So…I was wondering if it’s possible for me to make your home, my home as well? If you want to, that is, if not, I completely understand.

(L)[chuckles] My goddess, my love, my sweet blue-eyed angel, and the red-hot flame that burns deep within my soul. It’s not only possible, but there’s no “maybe” to it. I can make it happen, no questions asked. You know me, I don’t just want it. I desire for you to be a part of my home so that we can have nights like this every night. It won’t just be my home, it will be our home. Also, I may have fibbed a little when I said no questions asked. But the only question I have is…when?

(A)Well, I was thinking about the next few days. I can start packing all of my stuff tomorrow, which will probably take a day or so. Then I can start moving it all here.

(L)I’ll help you. I won’t let you carry anything heavy or move your stuff alone. I can always grab a cart and horse from the stables at the training grounds and we can load all of your things in it.

(A)That sounds like a great idea and then we can celebrate by making love on the first night.

(L)Oh, it’s going to be magical. Granted, every night is a magical night when I’m making love to you. I’m also curious, what made you want to do this?

(A)[sigh] I know you’ve been asking me to move in for quite some time and I’ve been a little apprehensive. I realized we’ve gone so far in our relationship, that I don’t see why we can’t share a home together. I was apprehensive for reasons and I really hate that my past keeps making me afraid to do certain things with you. I love you so much and I trust you with all of my heart. I guess I still have those fears that still lurk, and I’m so sorry, Larry.

Ashley's voice breaks, and her eyes well up with tears as she looks away from Larry, her lip trembling uncontrollably. Larry's face etches with concern, and he rolls over on his side to envelop Ashley in a warm embrace, holding her close as if to shield her from the world. He pulls back, his soft hands cradling her face, and gently lifts her chin, their eyes meeting in a sorrowful gaze. Larry's smile is soft and reassuring as he tenderly wipes away Ashley's tears with his thumb, his touch sparking a sense of comfort and security. His voice is a gentle whisper, a soothing relief for her fragile emotions, as he speaks words of solace, his eyes never leaving hers.

(L)Hey, you don’t need to be sorry, I completely understand and I’m not upset about it. I love you more than anything and you never have to be afraid to do anything with me. I’ll never let anything bad happen to you, nor would I be the one to make bad things happen.

(A)I know, and you’ve proven to me that I can trust you and it’s not fair to you that I still have these fears. We’ve been through so much together and you’ve shown me that you love me and you’d never hurt me, so I need to stop being so afraid to take chances with you. I don’t want to take my pain out on you and make you hate me, because you’re not the person that broke my heart. I’m a shit person and I still have to conquer whatever it is that still exists within me and work on being better. I want to be with you and we can hold each other and kiss each other and make love to each other. You can touch me all over my body like you usually do and make me feel like I’m worth something.

(L)Ash, you should know by now that you’re worth everything to me and I could never hate you. I’d give up everything I have if it meant having you here with me. It’s honestly not a matter of proving to you that you can trust me, but I’m just doing what I’m supposed to because I truly do love you. You’re right, I’m not the person who broke your heart and I never will be that person. I’ve treasured every moment we’ve spent together and everything we’ve been through so far, and I’ll continue to be here until you don’t want to be with me anymore. You’re not a shit person. You’re the love of my life and the woman I want to be with forever. When we first made love, I told you that I would hold you and never let you fall after taking that big leap in our relationship, and I meant it. If you decide you want to take more leaps, I’ll be right here with my arms wide open to you and you’ll never have to be afraid ever again. As long as you’re with me, I will touch you as much as you want and kiss you, and make love to you every day and night. Even when we sleep, I’ll hold you tight and never let go. I love you, Ash, and I’ll never stop even if you do. My love for you is limitless and never-ending.

(A)Oh, Larry, I’ll never stop loving you, either. I’ll always love you and I want to be with you forever, too. You’re right about everything. I’ve taken so many leaps with you already and I shouldn’t be afraid because I’m not alone. I have you to carry me, so I don’t have to jump and be so afraid of falling. I will be so happy to move in and have you touch me and kiss me and make love to me whenever we want. I guess all of this stems from seeing Cormac turn down Deirdre at the pub today. That woman is really sweet, and he’s an idiot. She must have been so heartbroken, and I feel really bad for her. But it’s not too far off from what I did to you, so I have no room to talk.

(L)Hey, stop beating yourself up, Ash, I told you that I understood why you turned me down and that I would’ve waited for you until you were ready. My love for you never changed from the beginning, from when I first fell in love with you, to now, and it will last as long as I’m alive and even into the afterlife. I’ll admit, your rejecting me did hurt, but I’m over it and it doesn’t affect me anymore because I’m with you now and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t hate you and I never did or will. I agree, Cormac is a dumbass, but he’s going through something right now and maybe when he’s ready, he’ll be with Deirdre. But for now, he needs to work on himself, especially his self-esteem, because it’s not looking good. I’ll do what I can to help him since he’s a friend and despite everything, I still care about him since he’s a better person and the Cormac we know and love.

(A)Maybe I still have some things to work on as well, especially my self-esteem.

(L)And you know what? I’m here to tell you that you’re the most amazing and beautiful woman that I’ve had the pleasure of being with. You’re the woman who invaded my dreams and the one who stole my heart despite rejecting it. You’re smart, tough, badass, gorgeous, sweet, caring, loving and, might I say, amazing in bed.

(A)[giggles] And you’re the goblin that stole my heart, too, and you never once rejected it or did anything to hurt it, but sadly, you can’t say the same about me. You’re so good to me and you’ve shown me so much love that no other man I’ve been with knew how to show me. You’re charming, brave, affectionate, funny, flirty, sweet, and a fantastic lover. I could go on.

(L)[smiles] Well, I don’t like to toot my own horn…on second thought, I will definitely toot my own horn when it comes to making love to you.

(A)[giggles] Toot that horn until your face turns blue because you know just what to do to make me feel good. I completely lose myself when you’re making love to me and it takes away all the pain that I still have. Which is why I don’t understand why I still feel so afraid. I wish I didn’t and you haven’t given me a reason to be afraid.

(L)Like we’ve told Merig and Kate, it’s okay to be afraid. But sometimes it’s best to do things that might scare you, especially when there’s a good outcome. What good came from agreeing to go on a date with me and giving me a chance to be with you?

(A)[smiles] A lot, you kissing me for the first time and telling me that you love me. Spending time with me and taking me out to a lovely dinner, then bringing me here and holding me while you softly touched me and kissed me some more.

(L)Exactly, and what good came out of us making love for the first time?

(A)[smiles] Well, just that, you made love to me and it was the best thing I had ever experienced and it continues to be each time we make love. I finally felt like I was worth something and that I meant something to someone. You showed me what it was like to actually be loved and I realized that I could’ve had that all along if I had just given you a chance the first time you asked me on a date. I missed out on it and instead, I got hurt because I was stupid and I wasn’t an excellent judge of character and got completely blindsided. And now that pain sticks with me, but I wish I didn’t feel it anymore, but it only seems to go away when I’m with you and when you’re kissing me and touching me and when we make love. That’s why I want to move in with you, because I feel like the pain would go away for good if I’m here with you every waking moment and I’m realizing that.

(L)I’m sorry, Ash, you should’ve told me that you were still dealing with that. You know that I’m here to take your pain away anytime you need it. Also, you didn’t miss out on anything, because I’ve always been here, I’m still here, and will continue to be here while I show you love. That’s just a fact and I hate to break it to you, my love, but you can’t get rid of me.

(A)Good, cause I never want to get rid of you, nor do I want you to leave me.

(L)And I never will leave you, Ash, and I mean that. I’ll make all of that pain go away, even if I have to go find Ryan and beat the shit out of him, as long as it makes you feel better. I already don’t like that asshole and I’m sure you remember my encounter with him when he decided to call you a very distasteful name, and I was ready to punch him in the face for it.

(A)I know, and he’s the source of my pain and the pain the other men inflicted on me after him. You already make all of that pain go away and that’s why I want to be here with you and we can live happily ever after.

(L)Oh, honey, we’re already living happily ever after, because starting now, my home is your home. I don’t want you to feel any more pain and you will feel nothing but pleasure and love.

(A)Okay, my love, I’m sorry that I didn’t realize it sooner that you take all of my pain away and there’s no reason for me to be afraid anymore. Starting now, I’m no longer afraid to take leaps with you and have you carry me over those leaps so that I don’t fall. And you never have to worry about falling, either, because I’ll always be here to hold you, too. I love you, my charming goblin.

(L)And I love you, my brave and beautiful red-hot flame.

(A)Now, I distinctly remember you saying that we were just resting and that you wanted to continue to make love to me.

(L)[smiles] You’re absolutely right, I did.

(A)Well, this time, I want to make love to you.

(L)Oh really? Well, I wouldn’t say no to that. Make love to me, my goddess.

Ashley sits up, her eyes locked on Larry's, and leans in for a tender kiss. They share a soft, gentle moment, their bodies still entwined. As they pull away, Larry reluctantly releases her, and she climbs on top of him, straddling him with a loving gaze. From this new position, Ashley looks down at Larry, who gazes up at her with adoration. He reaches for her hands, holding them with a gentle touch, and begins to speak in a soft, heartfelt tone.

(L)Do you really want to be with me forever?

(A)[smiles] Hey, if I can’t get rid of you, then you definitely can’t get rid of me.

(L)[smiles] Well, it’s a good thing I don’t want to get rid of you, either. You’re mine, and I want you all to myself.

(A)I want you all to myself, too. I’m all yours and you’re mine as well.

(L)As I said at the pub, I’m all yours, and no other woman can stop me from being with you or take me away from you.

(A)Good, and no man will ever take me away from you. Now, I want to make love to you.

(L)Make love to me, my enchantress, my temptress, my gorgeous blue-eyed red-hot flame goddess.

Ashley's lips curl into a playful smile as she releases Larry's hands, gracefully leaning down to rest her body against his. Propping herself up with her hands on the bed just above his shoulders, she finds herself gazing directly into his eyes. With a tender smile, she leans in for a kiss, their bodies entwined and hearts racing. Larry responds by wrapping his arms around her, pulling her closer in a passionate embrace. As they kiss, Larry's hands begin to explore Ashley's naked body, gently caressing her from her shoulders to her hips, finally resting on her lower back. After a moment, Ashley pulls back, sitting upright while still perched on him, with Larry's hands lingering on her hips. She places her palms on his chest, their eyes locking in a deep, intimate gaze as Ashley makes love to Larry, savoring the moment. After they finish, they lay intertwined in each other's arms, lost in their own little world of love and intimacy. They eventually drift off to sleep, ending the night wrapped in each other's warmth.
