Chapter 54 of 54 - Bonus 5

"I have to admit, Sally, that was fun." Und walked beside Sally, his mouth full of candy. "This candy is delicious."

"Told ya," Sally laughed. "And it would taste even better without the wrappers."

Still chewing, Und replied, "The wrapper is the best part."

Sally laughed. "If you like it, go for it! By the way, the party's in the house at the end of the street."

"And you're sure no one will know I'm a dragon?" Und asked for the millionth time.

Sally laughed, "I'm sure."

As they neared the house, Und spotted a familiar figure, a man with a moth-like shape.

"Monty!" Und shouted.

The black figure didn't respond. Sally started to explain it was just someone dressed like Mothman, but Und shouted again. This time, the figure turned to look.

"Hey, dude!" the man called, pulling up his mask. "Great dragon costume."

Not wanting to blow his cover, Und replied, "Uh, thanks. I'm a great cosplayer, but not a furry."

The man held up his fingers in a peace sign, "Right on, dude!" He put his mask back on and walked into the house.

Und blinked a few times in confusion, but then he saw another figure he knew very well. Bigfoot!

"Barry!" Und shouted. Sally laughed seeing the "Bigfoot".

Bigfoot turned and smiled. "Wow, great costume. I thought I had the prize in the bag, but you might give me a run for my money."

Und blinked a few times. "So, you aren't Barry?"

"Sorry, man. Name's Phil." Just then, someone called Phil's name from the house. "Gotta run. Good luck with the contest."

Und looked to Sally, "What contest?"

"I guess they are giving a prize to the best costume. Don't worry, we'll leave before that happens." Sally said, "I think that will push our luck."

"So, humans take one night a year and dress up as my friends to have a party," Und shook his head. "Honestly, I think they would be flattered if they knew."

"Monty is proud of that," came a female voice behind the two friends. They turned to find a young woman about the same age as Sally and what appeared to be a large black dog.

"Hi, I'm Sophie," Sophie introduced herself, "and this is Monster." She pointed to the large dog next to her. (Hello, Dear Reader. You can find Sophie and Monster's story in "And She Fell." Thank you!)

"Hello," came a deep rumble that didn't feel like it was spoken.

"Monster?" Und said, "Better than the last name you had. What was it? Howl, howl, bark, woof." Und laughed.

Monster laughed along, "And what do you go by now?"

"I'm Und now." Und laughed.

"So, you know each other?" Sally asked.

"Monster and I go way back. He's a, uh, a…" Und stopped.

Sophie laughed, "He's a girl's best friend."

Sally laughed. "You know what? A dragon is, too. Are you two going to the party?"

"No, Monster saw Und and wanted to say hi." Sophie said, "We are actually hunting a werewolf."

"Like a real one?" Sally's eyes widened.

"Yes, he, uh, got lost," Sophie said.

"Okay, if we see him, I'll let him know you are looking for him," Sally said.

Sally and Und entered the backyard, where the party was in full swing. Und saw many familiar creatures, though he knew most were imposters. A few, however, seemed like the real deal.

"Dragon," came a quiet voice. Sally and Und looked to see a "vampire" dressed as a classic Dracula.

"Vampire." Und nodded.

The vampire nodded and walked away quickly.

"Real or fake?" Sally asked.

"Real," Und said.

Soon Sally and Und were dancing and having a wonderful time. Und relaxed once he found that his cosplayer ruse was working.

"Awhoo!" A werewolf let out a howl.

"I wonder if that is the werewolf they were looking for?" Sally asked.

The werewolf wandered over to Sally and Und, scratching behind his ear and panting while tapping his foot.

"Man, that feels good. Nothing like a good scratch," the werewolf said.

"Real?" Sally asked.

"Real," Und said.

"Wow, cool dragon costume." The werewolf said.

"I'm a really good cosplayer and not a furry," Und said yet again.

"Oh yeah, I guess I'm technically a furry," The werewolf gave a panting laugh. He began to sniff, looking closer at Und.

Sally smiled, "Some friends of yours were looking for you."

"Oh, who?" the werewolf asked, surprised.

"Sophie and Monster," Sally said.

"Ah, crap. I'm in trouble then." The werewolf looked around.

"Danny!" Sophie shouted as she and Monster approached. "We've been looking all over for you! Everyone in the village is worried."

"Ah, come on, Sophie. It's Halloween! No one can tell. I just say I haven't shaved in a while," Danny whined.

"It doesn't matter. You need to be home," Sophie said. She looked at Sally, "Danny is stuck as a werewolf. He can't change back."

"I thought werewolves only changed on a full moon," Sally said.

"Normal ones do, but Danny forgot how to turn back," Sophie said, looking at the sheepish werewolf.

"Yeah, I forgot, and now I can't seem to remember." Danny said, "I don't mind. It's fun being this way."

"Ladies and gentlemen!" a man onstage held his hands high. "It's time for the costume contest. If these participants can come to the stage: Vinny the vampire, Danny the werewolf, the amazing red dragon, and the scary black dog thing."

Danny gave a happy yippie and ran to the stage before Sophie could grab him.

Und looked to Sally concerned, and she said, "You know what, go for it."

"I'll go with you," Came the deep voice of Monster.

Vinny, Danny, Und, and Monster stood on the stage. Everyone was cheering.

The announcer said, "Third place goes to Danny the werewolf!" Everyone cheered. "Second place goes to Monster the uh, monster." There was more cheering. "And first place goes to Und, the red dragon!" The crowd shouted with glee.

Later that night, Sally, Und, Monster, Sophie, and Danny chatted at the portal.

"Well, Und, Happy Halloween, and congratulations on your trophy," Sally said.

"Thank you," Und said, holding his trophy like a horde of gold.

"Happy Halloween!" Everyone cheered.
