Days 47 to 65

Evil had been away for a while. I, Lester, who was the temporary leader whenever Evil wasn’t around, was surveying the members of Torwächter as they practiced their daily training. After the two girls joined the group, we had received a massive amount of requests to join. We easily gained some thousands of people every day.

Soon, the Squads left to different parts of the Kingdom, to complete Quests or challenge the Tower. Each Squad had its own purpose. For example, Sherry Potter wanted to create a group of mages that could destroy anything so their group sought out methods and rumors of terrible ancient magic.

Her sister Sherry Potter was interested in Naval combat so she had boats and ships made to sail across the expansive Ocean. Mo was adamant about using the Arena for team battles. He was a born leader that ushered his men to fight to their best and last.

Larry was a simple man with several problems when it came to women. So he dedicated a Squad primarily to men who wanted help with women. Strange, I know, but his Squad gets a lot of requests. Curly on the other hand wanted to find out the inner workings of our minds and discover what fear truly was. He started a creepy group that talked about scary sightings and rumors before going to check them out.

I run the first Squad, the one that aims to help all other Squads. We cook, we clean, and we heal. We would be like the maids and butlers of Torwächter, but every one of us has a battle Skill. We can hold our own in combat. We would travel all over the place offering our services.

There were others that focused on money making, body strengthening, meditation, and even studying Beasts and their relation to Mana. But Evil had his own Squad made up of the most dangerous of guys that shared in his ideals. He thinks we don’t realize his evil ways. Maybe he shouldn’t have kept his name as Evil.

These guys were the worst of the worst. Soldiers who deserted and then obliterated their previous troops, a man who killed all of his family while they were asleep, and even a little boy who stabbed his own mother in the back.

These people were all definitely regarded as bad, but Evil Ginger took them in anyway after talking to them. It was strange that he would accept these people and not the other criminals. Why was he being picky?

----------------------------------------

A couple days have passed since his disappearance and I’m worried. He never missed a day. Even the crazy mother of that bratty Lord has started spouting off things like her one true love is gone. Sheesh, I don’t know what Evil did to her. Yeah she’s gorgeous, but I wouldn’t touch her with a ten foot pole.

Where are you?

----------------------------------------

Whew. Apparently, he went off to get stronger and experienced an accident. Some sort of strange sleep that he didn’t wake up from like he normally would have. Although I was happy to see him, I was also distraught. Now we have to experience Hell again.

Evil Ginger joined us, wearing weights much heavier than ours and doing more exercises than we did. He even used his Spell to Breathe underwater to practice more moves! He was like a Devil sweeping through the training grounds and destroying any semblance of sanity remaining.

Of course, there were people within Torwächter that had his approval. People like his 13th Squad and…me. We had twice the training of normal members and had stricter requirements as well.

While on our monthly excursions, students hunted down at least one Low Level Beast. Members hunted down at least one Medium Level and us special ones had to hunt down a High Level Beast! What kind of crazy does he eat for breakfast?! Yet these nutcases are just as bad as him, doing everything without batting an eyelid.

On one occasion, I couldn’t find a High Level Beast so I had to trek back to Coliseum City and advance to the 30th Floor! Of course, the members of Squad 13 followed me. Not that it was me they were following, they just had the same idea.

We all went in at separate moments so we could each get our own Beast. The first ten Levels were easy since it was mostly just traps and challenges like puzzles or duels. At the end of each Floor, we would have to fight what was called the Floor BOSS. Each Floor had a different setup, with one being just seek the pieces and place them in their slots to unlock the door.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

One Floor had you battle the BOSSes of the previous Floors in succession. This was the 25th Floor. You would have to defeat the BOSS for the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th before you could challenge the 25th Floor BOSS.

After spending several hours on the boring trip up to the 30th Floor, I quickly hacked the head off the Beast and grabbed the proof. Beasts in the Tower did not remain dead, since their bodies are created from the Gods’ powers. They revert back to energy and the Gods reward you with a gift from their remains.

Sometimes it’s a horn, sometimes it’s a piece of hide. Sometimes it’s even a Blood Jewel. But this time was just a fang. I grabbed it and left. I don’t know how many Floors there were, but it seemed to be different for every person if they went in alone. Since everyone usually travels in groups, they only see the other version.

The Solo Version, as Evil calls it, is completely easier yet harder at the same time. The monsters Level Up slowly and most of the challenges are not that bad. But after the 50th Floor, it gets insane with many Beasts just nesting around.

Even Evil had to come back without any chance of succeeding. He didn’t want to die, after all. I was the first one to exit the Tower so I waited for the others. I know they weren’t finished because I always finished before them. They eventually came back out disheveled and even wounded.

“Guys, if Evil saw you now he would make you run laps around the City with nothing but your smile on your face. Get it together. Here, let me Dress your wounds.”

There was only five of them, but each one could take on a High Level Beast no problem. It was the other 29 Floors that weakened them to such a point.

We managed to make it back to the area where everyone else was still hunting Beasts. The first time was a simple practice round since everyone had their eyes on Evil and his program. Now that that was out of the way, the monthly Hunt would last a full week and required everyone to hunt down a Beast by themselves.

On that first time, people were split up into threes and had us veterans tell them where to go. Now they had to Solo Hunt for a week. If they didn’t succeed, they had to repay a Gold for the waste of materials and time spent on them. So if you weren’t careful, you would lose two Gold.

Thankfully, most people payed attention to the training and just about everyone would pass. The only exceptions were people that were either going because of their parents or those that just wanted the fame. We would quickly weed out the bad apples.

But probably the best moment was when Evil’s monthly revenue exceeded 100 Gold! He was still unsatisfied, so he kept at it, making more changes and creating more ways to make money. Because of him, many people were adopting the registration and the Adventurer’s Guild.

Thanks to this, Evil’s status as a Noble grew. Many people from around the Kingdom came to see the Arena or attend the Academy. People were easily swayed to believe that coexistence was possible after seeing this town. Demons, Monsters, even pet Beasts were everywhere.

You should have seen everyone’s faces when Evil suggested we make a gigantic outdoor bath house.

My guess is that Evil will be the main topic of people for quite a while.
