Days 3 to 6 Power Mining

The next morning, after doing all he needed to do, checking the forums, working on some exercises, going to the bathroom, Evil Ginger switched his narrator to first person point of view.

Now it’s time for me to log back in! Wow. This feels weird.

As soon as I logged in, I woke the guys up and began training them, but not on their Skills or Spells. I had to make sure they were willing to follow me. I told them we had some rules to talk about, first.

They all just stared with dumb looks on their faces.

A little while later, I was pacing in front of the 20 something men where they stood at attention with sweat dripping down their bodies as their legs shook. Yet they dare not move.

“What are the Rules?”

“”””The Rules are the Words We Live By! We must uphold these Rules with our dying breath!

Rule Number 1: Don’t fight a losing battle!

Rule Number 2: Don’t underestimate your opponent!

Rule Number 3: Don’t drag in uninvolved people!

Rule Number 4: Don’t give up!

Rule Number 5: Don’t trust all you hear!

Rule Number 6: Believe in your brothers!

Rule Number 7: Protect those that can’t protect themselves!

Rule Number 8: Be honest to yourself!

Rule Number 9: Do what you say, say what you mean!

Rule Number 10: Remember your debts!”””

Rule…oops…”

“Ah ah ah…You know what this means, right Lester?”

“Yessir…”

That night, Lester managed to remember the Rules, so he could finally eat. I set to work helping and training, although most of what I said was plagiarized from the real world. I even taught them the Dances and got to work making a morning program for the guys to follow. There was also one for night time, too. While they did that and hunted during the day, I went to mine. I found a lovely mountain that hid a rich deposit of rare ore further inside.

(2 days omitted because nothing happened)

I wanted to dig straight there, but decided to pick up the little pockets of ore along the way. This made me have to dig and mine for three days before I got to the ore.

Or at least what I thought was regular ore.

I found out they were strange blue crystals. They counted as Blacksmith materials as they showed up on my Find Ore Spell. I continue to dig as I pocket the cool feeling rocks. All of a sudden, I broke through to the other side. There was an underground cavern! I looked inside to see a massive frog…toad? I didn’t remember the differences. But toads are normally bumpy, right? This must be a frog.

The frog was startled to see me. I would be startled too, if someone crashed into my home and stole my stuff. But I wanted it so…I guess it’s time to run! I quickly turn around and book it for the entrance to my mine, hearing crashing sounds as the frog smashed into the small walkway. I stopped hearing movement and looked back…

Stolen story; please report.

To see the frog stuck. It was my fault for breaking into its home, so might as well help it out. Maybe the frog would help me out in return! Without even asking the frog if it wanted help, I started to mine around the body. I guess the frog thought I was going to kill it or continue taking the crystals as it tried to shoot a water spray at me. Lucky it didn’t hit, because the floor looked like it was shot with a laser!

I soon got the frog out, thanks to its thrashing around. The frog looked at me funny, like it was trying to figure out what I wanted. Let’s pretend I don’t see that suspicious glare.

I pull out some small herbs one of the Harvesters collected. It was a good thing these guys were from all beginning Jobs. Very diverse. I set to work rubbing the healing plant on the scrapes on the side of the frog. I looked around and noticed a small stream off to the side of what I previously thought was a cavern.

Nope, it was a small pocket within the mountain. It was a little small, but there was the stream I mentioned earlier that trickled on to somewhere else. It seems the frog grew up here? It must have been a tadpole when it came in here. I don’t know how it survived for so long, so I decided to observe it some more.

Now that it wasn’t chasing me, it actually seemed kind of cute. I began to rub its head as started to act like a kitten having its ears scratched. Weird. It had boring colors, which meant its mucus wasn’t laced with toxins for self-defense, and its body was about as tall as my chest. Its hind legs were long, just like frog legs should be, but they were an icy blue that differed from its boring green. Surely enough, the legs were cold. The frog didn’t seem to mind, though.

Maybe it had something to do with the crystals? Something I would have to work on. I got up to leave, without taking anymore crystals, but the frog jumped on me! It sat on me, staring into my face. It quickly hopped off, kicking the air out from my lungs, as it went to the hole. It just stood there, waiting for me.

I guess it wants to leave. Okay. I guess I will mine the crystals, too. Works for me.

(20 hours omitted due to nothing happening)

It felt like it took another good solid day and a half for us to make it to the surface. I reached out and rubbed the top of the frog’s head, looking at the outside world. The frog actually huddled closer to me and wouldn’t move. Is something there?

There was! A humongous snake! Black scales, sharp fangs, it resembled some sort of viper! It was definitely going to attack us! I didn’t know what to do, but motioned for the frog to step back. I grabbed my hammer and set to work. I hadn’t warmed up so it was extremely dangerous. I aimed for the first strike with Rush, then followed up when the snake got distracted with a Break to one of its fangs. Getting tired, I swung for the chin with Crush, but missed.

Just as the snake was about to chew my head off, it was blasted by a laser like spray of water! The frog helped me out! I looked back at the snake to discover its head was completely gone except for a small black bead. The frog hopped over and licked it up, shooting its long tongue and grabbing it.

I was still momentarily dazed, as I had a couple notifications pop up.

“Congratulations! You have defeated a Demonic Beast of Medium Difficulty! You received a new Skill Sense Heat! You have a stronger resistance to earth! You have a stronger affinity to earth! Your account has been awarded 10 Silver Coins for the victory!”

“Congratulations! You have created a bond with a Divine Beast of Lower Difficulty! You received a new Spell Breathe! You have a stronger resistance to water! You have a stronger affinity to water! For being the first to obtain a Beast Companion, your account has been awarded 1 Gold Coin!”

What the shit?
