In the not-too-distant future, humanity had achieved a monumental breakthrough: they had built a quantum computer that was capable of discovering new breakthroughs every single day. This computer was a game-changer, allowing humanity to solve problems that had been thought impossible and explore new frontiers of science and technology.
With the help of this incredible machine, humanity made rapid progress in fields ranging from medicine and energy to space travel and artificial intelligence. People marveled at the unprecedented pace of discovery and the unprecedented benefits that came with it.
However, all of this progress came to a screeching halt when an alien species arrived on Earth. These aliens were far more advanced than humanity, with technology beyond anything anyone had ever seen. The quantum computer, which had seemed like a wonder of the universe, was suddenly no match for the alien's technology. Humanities many governments failed to resist the aliens and the population was reduced by fifty percent in a matter of days.
The aliens were interested in humanity's quantum computer and demanded that it be turned over to them. Humanity refused, knowing that the consequences could be catastrophic. But the aliens were persistent, and they made it clear that they were willing to use force if necessary but would spare the rest of humanity if they made this concession.
In the end, humanity was forced to make a difficult choice. They realized that their quantum computer was no match for the alien's technology and that they were unlikely to win a battle against such a formidable foe. So, they decided to hand over the computer to the aliens, hoping that this would be enough to appease them and prevent further conflict.

The loss of the quantum computer was a devastating blow to humanity. All of the progress they had made seemed suddenly insignificant in the face of this technological juggernaut from beyond the stars.
This loss was seen as welcome by very few who believed the advancements humanity was making were too quick and automating too much of life that the human experience was being reduced to nothing.
Most were frustrated by the loss and did their best to recreate the quantum computer to once again make progress at speeds that humanity had never before hopeful that it would allow them to eventually surpass or at least rival the aliens who had set them back.
Overwhelmed by the majority those who did not seek to use much technology could do nothing to stop the rush to gain back what was lost. A few more quantum computers were created all working in tandem to decipher and incorporate the aliens' technology into their own to hopefully expedite the process of progress even though they were already advancing at lightspeeds.
New insights and discoveries into alien tech occurred everyday meaning things were becoming obsolete as soon as they were learned. Humanity quickly expanded into the rest of their solar systems inhabiting anything they could, but their population could not keep up with their expansion.
More artificial clones and synths were used to quickly raise the population and just get more manpower within the human race, and they were treated exactly the same as any other citizen of the human race all focused on the alien menace that they united against.
The alien race once again returned to the milky way and once again humanity was no match against them. All their colonial expansion from earth was destroyed from orbit, humanity was pushed back to their homeworld Earth where miraculously they held on.
The aliens left once more, but humanity was battered. Most of Earth's resources are already expended and technologies lost what could they do? They returned to the old ways unable to fabricate parts or synthesize foods they had to give up their pursuits of revenge and advancement to survive as a species. Simple farming was all humanity was left with.
